If you want to go to Psalm , you have to page through from Psalm 1 till you find The only saving grace here is that verse numbers are all marked as chapter and verse I've found with some Bibles it's not always easy to know where you are. Every Book in this volume is titled as "Young's Literal Translation: Young's seems to be a step in the right direction, though it could be debated just how "literal" Young was. There will always be tension between literal translation and what makes sense in the target language, English in this case.

I think maybe Young erred on the side of making sense in English, but that's my uneducated opinion. The original Hebrew is very rich, and there is a lot of nuance that gets lost in translation. There is so much more to be learned by comparing the original words and the translations of what the translators thought the original was trying to say. This is a very worthwhile book if you're a thinker looking for answers. One of the best Biblical texts ever. An exceptional tool of comparative translation for the serious Biblical student and practitioner.

The version was based on the TR, easily confirmed by the word "bathe" in Rev. The "Publishers' Note to the Third Edition" explains, "The work has been subjected to a fresh revision, making no alteration on the principles on which the Translation proceeds, but endeavouring to make it as nearly perfect in point of accuracy on its present lines as possible. The translation is not perfectly literal. It renders one passage as "And on the first of the Sabbaths" while it translates another as "And on the first of the week" even though the two phrases are identical in the Greek texts.

To quote the preface "Every effort has been made to secure a comparative degree of uniformity in rendering the original words and phrases. It is the Translator's ever-growing conviction, that even this smaller number may be reduced still further.
