It took years before I stopped going through the motions and gave it a try. I watched you spiral out of control, and it broke my heart. But what gutted me, what destroyed me, was when you told me to forget you. I saved each one like it was gold. Within those slips of paper over the years, you opened up and became my best friend again. The Josh I remembered. What choice did I have but to move on?

But on your time, when you felt you were ready. And, as usual, you took my choices away. Her eyes were red and swollen and when her mouth fell open to speak, no words came out.

I have been anxiously awaiting this full length novel ever since Ms. Rose introduced these characters in the novella by the same name in the Christmas in the City II anthology. Josh and Brianna have been best friends since childhood.

As time moved on feelings developed but were never expressed. But neither could fully let go. Even after 10 years. Yet as they get to know each other, much of their relationship feels just like it did when they were growing up — with one notable excpetion — their chemistry is off the charts.

But letting go of hurt and what might have been is easier said than done. I just loved these two. I loved them separately. I loved them as best friends. I loved them as lovers. Second chance romance is my romance readers additon and Ms. Rose did a genuinely stellar job of creating the angst and history and developing feelings a second chance needs.

In fact my heart dropped at one specific time that I absolutely did not see coming. Rewrite is a prime example of why I look forward to Stephanie Rose releases and why she has become one of my favorite authors. Provided for honest review. View all 12 comments. Oct 18, Vanessa nessreads rated it it was amazing. Oh, the feelings are rushing out of me. This friends to lovers romance was done oh-so-right. It was a story filled with sweet moments.

But, it also sucker punched you with the emotions. It was so endearing and heartfelt. Josh and Brianna have been friends since kindergarten. And even at that young age without knowing exactly what love is, Bri felt it for the green-eyed little boy. There's no denying the immense connection between Josh and Bri. As they grow up feelings are developed, but never expressed.

Josh's life has been a hardship and it starts falling apart. And in his mind Bri will be better off without him in her life so, he does the only thing he can do, he leaves. Though, without each other in their lives it doesn't diminish the fact that their still connected to one another. He's back, but nothing is the same. So much time has passed, but at the same time when they see each other, it's as if it hasn't. The reconnecting of Bri and Josh was beautiful to read.

I felt their chemistry. I felt their sadness and sorrow. I felt their happiness. They were always meant to be. But, with that said could it be enough, or would all those years apart take a toll on them? My love for Josh knows no bounds. He is the perfect book boyfriend. The love and devotion he has is beyond. I loved how caring he was. I loved that above anything he was there for Bri. He was the ultimate. And Bri, oh gosh how I adored Bri. I admired her selflessness and strength.

Josh and Bri were two souls that were always meant to be. If two people were made for each other, it was Josh and Bri. All I ever wanted was you. I loved Josh and Bri's story. It was beautiful, inspiring, and consuming. Thank you for writing it and giving us Josh and Bri. Oct 28, Emma Scott rated it it was amazing. Stephanie Rose never ceases to amaze me with her portrayal of real people. The drama and angst isn't lacking but it feels soooo organic and natural.

Like you're hanging out with friends and living alongside their struggles. Josh and Bri felt like friends I wanted to be with and help find their happiness. I'm typically not a huge fan of books that start with then main characters are children. IDK, I just don't seem to connect as quickly and the fickle nature of children make it hard for me to bel Stephanie Rose never ceases to amaze me with her portrayal of real people. IDK, I just don't seem to connect as quickly and the fickle nature of children make it hard for me to believe long-lasting anything can exist unless the kids are living rightnext to each other for years and years.

In this situation, it worked, mostly because Stephanie's prose is so fluid and effortless. There were some ups and downs on the road to the HEA, of course, but I didn't find anything so outlandish it made me suspend disbelief. I'm a firm believer in the idea that simply because I might have reacted differently to a situation, doesn't mean that I can't get on board with how the characters react. So long as it's believable, I love the idea of exploring life through fiction and no two people, in life or otherwise, are going to react to something the same way.

I love that about stories, and I loved how these situations unfolded. Stephanie Rose gets stronger every book she writes, but she's already a go-to author if you want the kind of book that makes you feel warm and good, and believe in true love. Oct 02, bookbruin rated it it was amazing. Both Devra and Tristan gave such amazing performances! Some of the scenes were so emotional and heartbreaking, but the narration really took it to the next level. Every feeling - joy, anger, frustration, elation, etc - was so much more profound. This is my first time listening to Tristan Wright, but I was really impressed by his heartfelt and charismatic narration.

My heart nearly exploded hearing him say "cupcake" for the first time! I've listened to Devra Woodward one time previously and have loved her both times. Her voice actually reminds me a lot of Julia Roberts! Both narrators did fantastic with male and female voices as well. Even if you've read the book, you need to experience the audiobook! No one can pull you in with such endearing characters and then gut punch you right when you get comfortable the way that Stephanie can.

Every one of her books is heartfelt, emotional, and beautifully honest. Rewrite is no exception. This childhood friends to lovers story hooked me from the start and I couldn't turn the pages fast enough to find out what happened next. The connection between Josh and Brianna is undeniable and you will mourn right along side them for the well intentioned, but heartbreaking decisions that kept them apart. I loved him from the deepest part of my soul, but in silence.

Told in dual point of view, in both the past and present, readers are slowly able to piece together Josh and Brianna's painful history. There will be times that you laugh at their easy going and playful banter, but also times when your heart will ache for all the missed moments and what ifs.

The longing and yearning is palpable and you won't be able to stop yourself from rooting for these two to find their way back to each other. I loved you then. I love you now. I loved you all the years in between. The heavier moments are balanced perfectly with plenty of swoon and steam, as well as fantastic secondary characters like Josh and Bri's other best friend, Reid. He brought some much needed levity to the more emotional scenes and was the best friend we all hope for, providing clarity and support in the most critical of times. There are some twists that I didn't see coming that really almost tore my heart out, but it's in these moments that we see our characters really shine.

Ty Dilek for the heads up! Oct 13, Andi Isack rated it it was amazing. They always said friendship is impossible between a woman and a man What Josh and Brianna have is more than an ordinary friendship, it's way to far, it's an deep an unbreakable bond, they understand each other without words, they perfectly know what the other think or feel, it's a telepathic communication, that makes their friendship stronger and stronger.

It will let you speechless, really cause it is so real, it will be impossible to miss it! Usually when I write a review I find myself saying so often how much I loved the characters or the story, or how beautiful they are together I really wish to have such a great and intense bond with some guy out there!!!

Love for them it always been there, owning a huge part of their hearts! Because from the first moment they met, in kindergarten they destined to be together, as BF and as lovers! Neither time, distance, people, can put them apart!! Sep 29, Mia Kayla rated it it was amazing. Stephanie Rose has done it again! I loved it from beginning to end. There were so many plot twists that I was flipping the pages like they were on fire. Just when I thought it was smooth sailing for this couple, Stephanie threw something in their way that was so unexpected that I threw the book down but then picked it up again because I needed to know what was going to happen.

I just needed to know. Swoony Josh and head strong Brianna were meant for each other. There's no denying the attraction t Stephanie Rose has done it again! There's no denying the attraction that they have for each other and their destiny to be together. Second chance romances are my absolute favorite tropes to read. Nov 27, K. Allen rated it it was amazing. Rewrite gripped me from the start and never let me go. My heart was all twisted up while rooting for these two, I couldn't put it down until I was done! What a beautiful and somewhat unsuspecting story for Josh and Bri, childhood friends who always wanted to be something more to each other.

The misunderstandings, the second chances, and that unexpected twist that makes you stop and go "whhhhhaaaat, noo Rewrite gripped me from the start and never let me go. Oct 02, Yvette Booksandbandanas rated it it was amazing. This second chance romance nails all the emotions only a true love story can make you feel.

I devoured this story and these two destined characters. Through the good and the bad, the highs and the lows, no amount of time can truly tear apart what was already rewritten. This author knocked it out if the park with this lovely story.

Sep 26, Logan Hr rated it it was amazing. This book man this book It hit me right in the feels Be prepared to swoon, laugh and cry within this pages Our love was primal and raw, the kind of stuff people wrote about. And, actually, the entirety Rewrite by Stephanie Rose. I was tired but smiling, sleepy but content. Rose hit on all points—including a believable story arc, where this couple meet at age five and are inseparable until.

But there again, I also laughed along with them, smiled in joy for them, rolled my eyes at them. And it was perfect. Rewrite was one of those books that ran the gamut from high to low and, I confess, I was super worried about it being too angsty for my poor, weak heart. It was, in fact, just the right levels of all the things because this book? Oct 01, J. DeRouen rated it it was amazing. Get ready for Josh and Brianna to steal your heart!!! The only thing I love more than a childhood romance is a second chance romance, and Rewrite is the perfect combination of both.

Josh left to be come a better man. And when he returns, Brianna is in the arms of another. It echoes the beauty in finding the one the heart loves the most. Without going into detail, this is no love triangle. Josh and Brianna never tell you about their love.

They allow you to feel it through their words and actions. These two have the kind of love that will have set your literary heart a flutter. Their love is infinite. Through each obstacle, twist and turn their love remained absolute. Their story consumed me. My heart is racing just thinking back at just how this story moved me. The emotional journey of their love story is one I will never forget. This is demonstrated in not only the crafting of the storyline, but in the development of her characters.

If anyone were to ask me the book that left me breathless this year? Sep 29, Dawn Nicole Costiera rated it really liked it. Rewrite is my first Stephanie Rose book and I adored it! I don't know why I waited so long to read this lady. Now that I have, I plan on reading more of her books. I loved her easy, breezy writing style. Rewrite has an effortless flow that kept me turning the pages. Stephanie's dialogue between characters is spot on.

She writes how people speak, which made the story and characters perfectly relatable. This book is drenched in sweetness. Who doesn't love, best friends, wh Rewrite is my first Stephanie Rose book and I adored it! Who doesn't love, best friends, who turn into first loves then eventually need a second chance??!!!

The love between the two was incomparable and endless. Josh was just a kid when he had to become the parent and bread winner in his household. A mother who left him and a father disabled. It all fell on him. Brianna was afraid to tell Josh and Josh never felt good enough for her. Leaving many things unsaid between them.

Things went horribly wrong for Josh and he found himself in major trouble. His only way out was enlisting in the army. Ultimately having to leave Brianna behind. In return leaving them both broken hearted Years later Josh is back to get his girl. Is it too late? Did he wait too long? Does true love ever die? And I also strive to work that much harder the next day. I hope that my mental telepathy works enough, so that you know I still love you with all my heart.
