Better Read than Dead.

Honestly, I felt like I was reading about another hapless heroine, the one from New Jersey that's always blowing up cars. There was just too much "madcap adventure" feel about this book, and definitely not enough "plot". I'm hoping when I pick up the next one it's better, or that's the end of the series for me. Guess time will tell. Dec 28, Patricia rated it really liked it. Abby Cooper has a psychic gift that allows her to know certain things about people including whether they are dead or alive.

An interesting, amusing story with a surprise ending. Jul 09, Amanda rated it liked it. Much better than the previous two in the series. There's still too much rehashing of plot here though. Why can't authors trust that if a reader is on book six of a series they most likely remember the name of the handy man, her sister, her boyfriend, and what a photograph of a dead person looks like to the psychic. One of the best things about these books is that they are very light, and can be read in a few hours. I woke up way too early this morning but by the time I eventually got up, at 7: Nov 18, Elizabeth rated it really liked it.

Psychic Eye Mystery

When Dutch learns his cousin Chase, an employee of Rivers Security, was kidnapped along with the person he was protecting, he rushes to where his cousin was last seen, Las Vegas, accompanied by Abby. However he made her promise to go home if something happens to him. Abby senses her beloved is hurt and soon finds the crime scene where his crashed vehicle with blood and an amnesiac woman inside are. In Death Perception , Abby and Dutch head to Vegas after learning that his cousin, who is like a brother to him, has been kidnapped. In the process of searching for Chase, Dutch goes missing.

Abby's partner, Candice and her sister, Cat join her as she desperately tries to solve these mysteries. Having lived in Vegas, Candice has a contact for everything. With her know how and street smarts and Cat's unlimited funds, these three are unstoppable. It was great seeing more of Candice and Cat's always In Death Perception , Abby and Dutch head to Vegas after learning that his cousin, who is like a brother to him, has been kidnapped.

It was great seeing more of Candice and Cat's always a hoot. However, Abby continues to frustrate me. One minute she's "reading someone", telling them things about their lives that prove she's a powerful psychic and the next she's questioning her visions. Of course, she only questions them when it comes to Dutch and those closest to her. Maybe it's that closeness that causes her to question everything. It feels very contradictory and out of character when it happens. These books are always a quick read about mysteries I enjoy trying to solve before all is revealed.

Jun 15, JG rated it it was amazing Shelves: I am so glad to say our Abby is finally learning I was a little hesitant to read this because from my previous reading; Abby and Dutch's relationship usually make me cringe. I found Abby's character on the girlfriend department a little deplorable but the mystery and the thrill is good. Still their relationship is one hell of a factor in the stories so i want it good. In book 6, the thrill and the mystery is the same It kept me in the edge of my seat and adrenaline was rushing in my blood while reading this.

Nov 08, ette rated it it was ok Shelves: So far, this is disappointing me. Granted, it's a paranormal mystery, and bubble-gum fiction, but still. The psychic used to have some "rules" around her abilities. Now, it seems when she really needs to know something--to keep someone out of danger or from being killed, her "intuition" is vague and filled with images that are not always clear.

However, when she wants to "prove" to someone she's a psychic, it's like she has access to a full vita on the person. There are also parts So far, this is disappointing me. There are also parts that read like fan fictionthere really needs to be a better editor, not of spelling and such but of the plotit's it far too undrealistic even for a psychic detective of sorts , it should be edited out. Oh well--it's bubble gum Jul 14, Barbara rated it liked it Shelves: Didn't like this one as much as the previous books. Dutch wasn't in it enough? Not sure that was it, but really can't put my finger on what seemed wrong.

On the whole, totally enjoying this series. Can't wait to get the next books to read them. While Dutch and Abby are all too human, and get into communication spats that bug me a bit, I really like these characters and am invested in their relationship. Hope it continues to develop. I think they are meant for each other; even thoug Didn't like this one as much as the previous books.

Reward Yourself

I think they are meant for each other; even though their emotional baggage may get in the way at times. Aug 05, Sharon rated it really liked it Shelves: This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. To view it, click here. I found this book in the series frustrating due to Abby's inability to recognize the need to get Dutch to the hospital. Still an entertaining read. I liked the new character Nora that was introduced, and it was interesting to learn more about Connie, her private eye friend.

The psychic involvement is still interesting. It's a little hard to take though when she doesn't want to use her ability, or just plain misses what is going on right in front of her. Jan 11, Lynda rated it really liked it. I really like the direction the books are taking. Jun 21, Stephanie rated it it was amazing. May 06, Kristine Hansen rated it really liked it Shelves: C'mon Abby, just look at a picture of Dutch already! Sometimes I wonder if the author forgets that Abby has psychic abilities. I have a hard time understanding Abby's refusal to ask her guides for help when a situation becomes dire - especially in regards to someone she loves.

Add to that a lot of quirky characters, and this book just gets more and more fun as it goes. Psychic Eye mysteries are light and crazy fun, so long as you don't mind suspending disbelief quite a bit. I like Abby and her sister, and am quickly coming to like her new partner and the even Dutch which has taken some time to warm up to. While the mystery itself is nice and twisty, it does get a little predictable, but that can be forgiven because the rest is silly fun.

If you're a fan of the series, then by all means, don't miss this one. Jun 01, Crystal Anderson rated it liked it. This series is back to being good again. I wasn't annoyed with Abby at all this time and it had some very funny parts in it. I enjoyed the fast pace and excitement. The only thing that bothered me is the blatant heavy handed foreshadowing that the author seems to enjoy: Aside from those moments it was a fun, entertaining read.

Jun 17, Whitney rated it really liked it Shelves: However, Abby is learning some things about Dutch that he never told her before, and she's not sure how she feels about that. So, Abby and her friends will do everything they can to save Dutch and figure it out before it is too late. This book was another good one to the series. I really liked how Abby and Dutch were working together. But I didn't like they he kept her in the dark so much, that annoyed me a lot. Other than that, I thought this one was great, and I can't wait to read more.

Jun 14, Sandra DS rated it really liked it. This type of story just makes me wish I was a medium too. I thought this book was awesome, the intrigue kept my interest until the last page. I loved all the characters, including the villains. I find that the characters were dimensional, not just one type of person Also, the wrap up of the story at the end was pretty cool, no loose ends which I like.

What is Kobo Super Points?

I walked away knowing everything that went down and why it happened. Overall, a quick and fun read, lots happening and loved Abby's gift and what This type of story just makes me wish I was a medium too. Aug 10, Sherrie rated it liked it Shelves: I have read the series and so far Victoria has done a very good job with working with Abby and her side kick Candice along with her boyfriend, Dutch, who does believe in what she does. She always seems to have to prove herself to certain authorities but yes fun to read and hard to put down.

Aug 04, Donna Tarver rated it really liked it. Some good character development. It felt like the mystery was second place behind being in Vegas. Pretty solid book in the series.

Aug 31, Debra McEathron rated it it was amazing. This was a great story, I can't wait to read the others in this series. The characters were well developed with plenty of surprises with their abilities. So good Twists and turns I did not see coming. Another great book in this series. On to book 7, I can't wait.

May 18, Kelly Mannion rated it really liked it. What I enjoy about this series is that it is a great, mindless read.
