There was a problem filtering reviews right now. Please try again later. Heitz is a good author. This is a good series and the Dwarves series is excellent. Lots of adventures for the main characters and loads of intrigue and twists. I hope he keeps writing and doesn't readers hanging like George R.
Martin did with the Game of Thrones series. One person found this helpful. I went into this thinking it was going to explain a lot more about what happened to Tungdil and while I wish that it had the story was still thoroughly enjoyable on the same level as the original series, I would definately recommend to anyone who is a fan of "The Dwarves" series.

Took a long time for the story to take shape. Ended on a nothing note. Left you wanting the next book immediately. I did enjoy it but not as much as the book before in the series. Possibly because they were entering a new world and I had to get my imagination a d head around that. It would be a good book to make into a movie as interesting characters involved. This books is fantastic. It diverges a bit from the previous 2 Alfar books but ties the Alfar series in nicely with the Dwarves series.
I would highly suggest reading this book before reading the 4th in the Dwarves series The Fate of the Dwarves. Given the opportunity I would have read the 1st three Dwarves books, then the 3 Alfar books and then the 4th Dwarves book.

Lists with This Book. This book is not yet featured on Listopia. As you can see, this book took me awhile to read. Part of this is due to less time to read changed my going to work routine, which resulted in less reading time and part of this is due to the slow progression of the book.
With that said, this book had THE most interesting ending and tying up of loose ends ever!!! The War of the Dwarves 4. The Revenge of the Dwarves 5. The Fate of the Dwarves 8. A new book yet to come With this knowledge the series becomes that much more interesting and makes me want to read it all again in the correct order, and all at once, to understand it all a bit better. Heitz belongs IMHO to the best fantasy writers of this time. Heitz is not someone who describes war as an adventurous and glorious thing, no he makes you smell the decaying bodies and feel the blood on your hands and shows the gruesomeness of it. On the other hand he also makes you smell the roses and enjoy the landscapes through the eyes of the main characters.

If you enjoyed it go get parts 1 and 2 as well. That series established the protagonists of this series as antagonists a little bit too well, so it can be difficult to warm to them as characters. This comes to the fore at the end particularly which implies that this lack of character identification might be intentional. Good bit of High Fantasy though readers that favour characters that are highly likeable may find it hard to get into.
