Ask the short for an elf tricky Morticai if you can keep him long enough from his next adventure. I want another Morticai story! If you enjoy adventure and heroes who do the right thing against terrifying odds, this book series is for you! Bolesny's writing is exquisite in its details and makes the Duanor time, characters and places so vivid that you feel you are seeing it unfold right before your eyes.
It is a fun, well-paced read and one feels that they are standing next to Morticai as he careens from one adventure to the next. For me, I wanted to know more about Morticai and his compatriots and how they became the way they are. The dueling scenes are wonderful to read and I can only hope this book will be optioned for and made into a movie.

I think anyone who enjoys reading a book series will enjoy the first installment to the Duanor series, Morticai's Luck. It has all the elements anyone can ask for. It is very easy to get into. In fact, I found I couldn't put it down. The action is fast paced, and the dueling scenes were easy to follow. There were times I could feel myself in Morticai's shoes and almost believe I was on Duanor.

The element of Good v. Evil is timeless in any story and Ms. Bolesny has captured this struggle effortlessly; and yet, she has made it feel totally different from previous epics. Personally, I can't wait for the next book to come out and to see what kind of trouble Morticai gets himself into next. In "Morticai's Luck" Ms. Bolesny has crafted a compelling story and the beginning of what will hopefully be a new series. Morticai is a strong willed rascal who is forced to discover the depth of his own mettle to survive in a tale of adventure and intrigue.
I could not put this book down and look forward to more installments of Morticai's adventures. Bolesny is an exciting new voice in heroic fantasy. Not only is Morticai's Luck captivating and intelligently written, but I lost myself in the characters This is one of those rare books that makes the reader genuinely care for the people and the land so sublimely created by its writer, and Ms. Bolesny does it masterfully. I can't wait for the next book!

This book is amazing and I absolutely cannot wait until the sequel, whenever that may be coming. The story is full of intrigue and adventure. However, it is the exact book as another published under a different title, Trail of Darkness. This book was published in with a different publishing company. I am so upset that I purchased this book thinking that it was a different story. I think it is false advertising and it should be stated that it is a previously published story.
The only differences I see are that the older version has a brief history section and the new version has a map of the world created. I will be returning my copy of Morticai's Luck, as I already own Trail of Darkness, as a as to fact that the binding is separating from the book. I was excited to see that she had written more stories, but highly disappointed that it was not the case.

Darlene Bolesny has created a world of intrigue and characters while keeping the book easy to read. Morticai the title character is multi-faceted, and he has his friends not to mention his readers! Surrounded by people who either want to kill him or protect him, Morticai balances his life on the line. Apparently, that is the only way he knows how to live - on the edge and in the middle of whatever is going on!
Although this book would stand on its own, I must admit I can't wait to see what happens next!
