I love reading Emma Holly's books they are well written and this one was one of them. Sep 22, marlene rated it really liked it. Dec 22, Jane PS rated it it was ok. I've read the first chapter but this book is really not grabbing me. This could be a DNF I'll give it another couple of chapters and see how I go. Whilst the first pages has some steamy writing in it, I just couldn't settle into the book. Generally, if I'm reading erotica, I like it to be short and sweet. This was erotica but it was long; so it struggled to hold my attention.

The last pages then turned into more of I've read the first chapter but this book is really not grabbing me. The last pages then turned into more of a romance story - that's when I really started to enjoy the book It was still steamy - but I could relate better to the characters and 'feel' for them.

I really liked the resolution and the 'open' ending. The last pages deserve 4 stars, but I really did have to force myself to get to that point, so 3 stars overall. View all 8 comments. I'm just not into spanking, BDSM and the submission thing.

When I'm reading such scenes I'm always wondering and I read these scenes trying to understand what drives these people. So, if you enjoy these topics I can recommend this book to you. Emma Holly again manages to spin a real plot around her characters and tell a real story and not only lines up sex scene after sex scene with a flimsy excuse of a story.

Just for that one star more. Dec 31, Jess rated it it was ok Shelves: After all the hype about Emma Holly's work, I was expecting something much better than I got. I spent most of the time giggling over Holly's euphemisms and bad, purple prose descriptions of man-parts rather than enjoying the romance. Auntee (Aliquippa, PA)’s review of Four Play

Generally speaking, it's about Kate and Joe falling in love, despite the protests of Kate. When it first starts, Joe and Sean are a couple. Kate actually thought they were gay, though she felt like Joe had a bit of a crush on her, their older landlady. And when Kate catches Joe and Sean in a compromising position, they invite her to join in, which continues on for months and months.

Joe is apparently a talented actor and composer, a This story was interesting, though much longer than I expected. Joe is apparently a talented actor and composer, and Kate lived by the "if you love something set it free" mantra. She really felt like if Joe didn't explore his true potential, he'd grow to resent her.

She also felt like if she accepted his professions of love, he'd be ignoring half of is sexuality, and he'd grow to resent her. Plus, with her being older, she felt like he needed to really live his life before settling for her. She really felt this way! So she sent him away to live his life and become successful. Eventually, he comes back and grovels pretty well.

I have to say it was a little sad that Sean ended up not really being a part of their lives. It would have been nice to know where Sean ultimately landed, romance wise. We know he and Kate were in business together, so he was still very much in the picture, just not in a romantic sense. Sean sure was creative when it came to their play! Kate was too, for her part. She definitely rolled with the roleplay. While I generally liked the overall story, it was a little jarring to see all the British-speak in a story that took place in Philadelphia.

There also seemed to be several little story threads that never went anywhere: And I found myself just wanting it to be over already.

Secret confession – I love Dirty Talk.

But I am glad I read it. Apr 10, The Cat Bastet rated it it was amazing Shelves: This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. To view it, click here. There is so much that is wrong with this book. Both the roleplay scenes are absurd, as is the "BDSM" scene. Captain Blood is ridic.

All of this should make the entire thing intolerable. This book is a perfect example of emotional authenticity trumping everything else. His behavior toward the ends of the BDSM scene and the priest scene saved both of those. Sean's motivation felt true. Sean's occasional moments of vulnerability felt true.

His i There is so much that is wrong with this book. His issues and the arrangements he makes to stay in Kate's life felt true, and more importantly, they felt specific. The he does and the moment she realizes he's flipped made my stomach drop. The only thing that would've made this better would've been Joe disappearing entirely - and as a permanent MMF partisan, that is sacrilege - but again, emotionally, it has to be this way to make things work long term.

British English spelling and grammar and even speech patterns. Additionally, there's dubcon kink. It's dubcon when you have ZERO discussion of limits or desires. Additionally, the characters were beyond absurd.

Add in the gag-worthy OTT language ie quivering quims , and this didn't even work as spank bank material. Which, let's be honest, is all I was hopeful for. Feb 10, HJ rated it it was amazing Shelves: What really makes me like it? There is no way to disguise that this was written by a Brit and possibly for Brits. I admit, it would have just been so much more believable if Kate had just been written as a Brit living in Philly.

Still, even after several rereads, I reread- I know this book isn't for everyone. Still, even after several rereads, I love this book. May 05, Susi rated it really liked it Shelves: The start was a bit fast for me. I always need some more time to warm up to the characters but in the end I really like them all. Usually the build up, emotionally and sexually, comes before the first bedroom action but this one is good exception. Very hawt, dirty and kinky but I highly approve.

Thoroughly enjoyed this page turner! I was surprised that it has a good plot and an HEA!! Honestly, I was just looking for a very steamy romance. I got that and a whole lot more!!! Would have rated it 5 stars but I don't want to take away from the books that do have complex plots, characters, and steamy scenes when appropriate. And that's all I can really say. A GOOD hot, if you know what I mean ; Really about going out of one's comfort zone, and trusting your lover s to accept you and be vulnerable with you. I loved this and it was relatively plausible. Two It took three to find out that each of them can and will be what they each need to be. Although love and friend ship all the difference I. It also didn't feel like I was reading a story about a menage couple in the US. Too many words and phrasing that doesn't sound like the lingo here. I believe this author is one of the many that friends have recommended to me for a steamy story. The characters are all likeable and the passion Let's spill the bad first. Sean and Joe hooking up in Kate's room. Things get even hotter when Kate walks in on them in the middle of sex. People are more likely to lose their shit and throw down anger. I liked the honest freefall of all of them giving into their desires. People don't really do that often enough, and, even if they do, there's all these needles of regret, shame and stuff.

It's nice to start the story off with a little honest fantasy and dive into how that resolves in reality. Dreams aren't actually impossible. They can come true. She's the new witch in town. While in New Summit, the reader will encounter interesting new characters, rediscover old friends previous characters and find love and laughter. The characters in Dirty Talk experience problems that are relevant in today's society. The author shows the characters' fears and weaknesses, as well as how they deal with them. Dirty Talk has romance, two sexy alpha males, a feisty heroine, a little bit of intrigue, a menage relationship and a happily ever after.

Cassie is a sassy woman, who is busy running her store. Every morning two attractive men come in for coffee. They repeatedly ask Cassie out on a date. She tells the men no, because of who they are and what the men do for a living. Cassie doesn't think twice before standing up for her friends and the men. She will even go out of her comforter zone for the ones she cares for. James and Lucas recently have moved to New Summit and find Cassie very attractive.

The men have been friends for years and are partners in the Dirty Talk show. After they are unable to convince Cassie to go out with them, they don't hesitate to step in when she needs their help. Lucas and James want to protect, support and love Cassie. The men can be very dominating and boss when they want to, but they are most importantly sweet and caring. Will she allow love to blossom between the three of them? There are many times that I laughed out loud, and times that I needed to fan myself while reading Dirty Talk. I highly recommend Dirty Talk to everyone.

You will not be disappointed with this story. I am looking forward to the next book in this series, Dirty Games. I volunteer to read this arc book. This is my honest and unbiased review. This quick read was pretty steamy! If you read Dirty Therapy You can see my review here then you've met Cassie before.

Cassie is still trying to overcome her childhood, she was called trailer trash by her classmates because her mother would enter her into beauty pageants. Lets face it, kids are harsh and the group of "Popular Girls" that were in her school were the worst. I would love to see them get whats cumming to them Cassie's an interesting character although she is lusting over James and Lucas she will not go out with them, separately or together.

You'll have to read the book to find out exactly why, but I really liked James and Lucas they were not only HOT but they had a strong sense of honor, if they told you something you could take it to the bank because they would stand by what they say. There is some angst from both sides, hers and theirs, but it doesn't distract them from the chemistry that is bubbling between the three.

Dirty Talk is a quick read, for me almost to quick. I really hope that we get to see more of this threesome in the next book in the series. Cassie is made to feel like an outcast in her community and this is because of how she was brought up. However, she does not allow anything or anyone to get her down, she continues striving, contributing to her community in her little way.

Then she met James and Lucas and her every thoughts are about them. The way they make her feel all gooy inside and a bit scared because of who they are and the work they do. But James and Lucas as set their sights on her and are willing to persist in pursuit of her until she finally says yes to them. One person found this helpful. I'm a fan of menage stories that are not sleazy. While the steamy scenes in Tara's books are graphic, she leads them in the direction of intimate and romantic. Her characters are in their relationships for the long haul and value and respect each other.

Don't miss this one! One person found this helpful 2 people found this helpful. James and Lucas are home to help out James' father. Cassie owns a bakery shop. All 3 are attracted to each. The guys have a show called dirty talk. Cassie is camera shy with good reason. One night Cassie has a date with someone from high school.

Bad night for him but not cassie read what happens. The 2nd book of this series was as good as the 1st book maybe better. If the 2nd book is good or better the 1st then the 3rd should be even better, can't wait. This book is the 2nd in a series, but can be read as a stand alone.

It's a quick, easy read with likeable characters, some predictable drama but no angst. See all reviews. Most recent customer reviews. Published 9 days ago. Published 3 months ago. Published 7 months ago.
