Cat helps Nick and Sally turn potentially scary situations into empowering ones by acknowledging what frightens them and working to fix them. For instance, squeaky doors can be oiled, branches tapping a window can be trimmed, and you can bring light to a dark room. Songs and mantras reinforce this message throughout the show, including "Take charge and fix it! Cat is impulsive, optimistic to a fault, and not always entirely responsible, but there's a method to his madness, and what he teaches the kids is solid. He's knowledgeable about a lot of things, from how and why leaves change in the fall to why thunderstorms are so loud.

Sally and Nick are receptive to the lessons they learn and look at their fears in a different light afterward. As Cat and his human friends prepare for Halloween, they also learn about nature and its changes during the fall. The story's primary theme relates to fear and courage, and there are many excellent examples of the characters bravely facing what scares them, always with happy results.

This is a great pick for families because of its positive messages, wonderful music, silly comedy, and spirited Halloween story.

Lacking inspiration, the kids are swept away on a fun-filled adventure in the Thingamajigger with Cat to locate the Oooky-ma-kooky closet and the costumes it holds, but getting there is a little harder than they imagined. With detours into a dark forest, a spooky cave, and a haunted fun house, this story is filled with Halloween spirit, and it challenges Nick and Sally to face some of their fears along the way.

Field trips are never as fun with anyone else as they are with Cat in charge, and this rollicking romp through all things Halloween is no exception. There are ghosts, monsters, and a few creepy-crawlies, plus some time spent exploring nature's changes in autumn and why they come about.

Fun music, silly laughs, and a recurring gag that sees Fish attempting to scare Cat keep every moment lively. Kids: What are some of your biggest fears? Do you have to face them very often?

Hi Pam. We're not sure if you read the article or not, but the secular Halloween celebration actually comes from the Catholic celebration of "All Hallows Eve," the day before All Saints Day. While we can promote the truth behind the holiday, we can't stop people from turning religious holidays into secular celebrations just like Easter bunnies becoming the focus instead of Christ's resurrection, etc. Also, we don't believe that praying for the dead will make the "hellbound" go to Heaven instead.

The practice of praying for the Holy Souls in Purgatory is based on the fact of needing final purification before we can behold the beatific vision. As members of the Mystical Body of Christ we can pray on behalf of the other members, including those faithful souls who have passed.

Gretchen, thanks soooooo much for your explanation to Max. Cesar Cancino says.

The fact that you want something to be different doesn't change the origin of the things. This come from a Pagan tradition with even human and animal sacrifices, please investigate. Jesus said: " if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? So why should we let other things in our lives that represents dead instead of the light of our savior. Why would you dress your holy home of old demoniac symbols, did you know the black cat uses as a symbol was one of the main demons in this old pagan Celtic tradition? Please investigate, the pope said, you don't dialogue with the devil, because he will stab you you with the tail.

He is the father of the tricks and lies. Don't deny kids have said "I love Halloween" when they should say "I love jesus" You all are saying is fun and is great. But you are falling in the trick. From the beginning humanity things they can deal with death and satanic things without getting dirty, but that's the first sin, pride, we think we are stronger that Satan.

Yes Jesus defeated death, but not us. We will by getting closer to him by letting him be the only one in out hearts. According a lot of your perspectives, we can dress our houses of dead but having Jesus on out hearts? So is ok to dress my kid as a little Dracula?

King of undeath and blood sucker? Kids are not able to identify this things in the way you think you are. Please be sure you pay attention, the materialistic culture is all over in here. They just know they can change their identity and receive candys because they deserve it. And even worst because you will "Trick or Treat" 1. God bless you all. Gretchen Filz says. Hi Cesar, there has definitely been a rise in the occult and New Age in recent years as Christianity in America has been in decline. However, the origins of Halloween as the Catholic celebration of All Hallows Eve is not pagan in origin.

Patrick's day as an opportunity to get drunk; Christmas becomes the celebration of Santa Claus a distortion of St. Nicholas and snowmen. However we as Catholics should not avoid celebrating our holy days, we should instead strive to celebrate them faithfully according to their true spirit, centered on Holy Mass and the veneration of the Saints.

As such, Catholics should definitely avoid all signs of the demonic in their celebration of Halloween. Alexis A says.
