It was definitely weird. I have no idea what I should have been expecting, but I did guess at the ending theme. Would have been higher if not for the glaring typos. A lot of fun--particularly if you've done NaNoWriMo! I picked this book up on a free promotional day and started reading it at the beginning of this year's NaNoWriMo to get into the NaNoWriMo spirit, even though I don't participate.

I have to admit that I'm struggling to write this review. There's so much I want to say, but I want to be as objective and constructive as possible. Let's do the positives first: A fictional book about an author trying to write doesn't come along very often, especially with a time I picked this book up on a free promotional day and started reading it at the beginning of this year's NaNoWriMo to get into the NaNoWriMo spirit, even though I don't participate. That blurred the lines a bit between reality and fantasy, which can be very interesting. And now for the negatives. In my opinion, the book was hard to read, and I couldn't lose myself in it like I typically do. Here are some specific things I couldn't get past: Yes, I wrote it that way on purpose to give you an idea of what I'm referring to. I do not mean to boast, but I have a good vocabulary.

I don't mind large or obscure words in a novel and am always happy to learn a new word or two. However, I found myself checking the Kindle dictionary frequently on words like antediluvian and aliquot. The phrase that really got under my skin was "a snowball's chance in perdition.

There were sentences with missing periods or other grammatical errors, words that were missing, extra words, verbs in the present tense instead of the past, words that were singular instead of plural, and words that were just plain incorrect "you" instead of "your," "scar" instead of "scare," "al" instead of "all" Some of the errors were just plain typos while others seemed to be due to changing a train of thought while writing. One read through the book, and the author could have cleaned up the vast majority of these, which would have made the book somewhat easier to read.

I would love if the author would give this book another look and fix it up because it does have potential. Mar 08, B. The idea is a good one, but the book is difficult to read.

It takes a certain sense of humor to appreciate the excessive word padding and barely followable plot line present in this book but the author does a good job reading the book and keeping the action moving. My co-workers would stare at me when I'd laugh at something I'd heard. Billy, thank you so much for validated my efforts; you have no idea how much it means to me: I have to confess after writing, narrating, editing, and re-editing, there were parts that still made me laugh especially Piers interviewing Greg, the regret-neighbor - weird, eh?
