Although I always wanted to be a writer, financial independence came first. Twenty-some years and a successful business career later I took some online writing classes and never looked back. So, I guess it works out in the end. Thanks for all the olives and pretty crappy customer service, Max!

A review of: Max's Italian Romance

Food was not good and had nothing to do with Italian food!! The wine was corked and didn't taste like a Pinot Grigio at all!! Sunday afternoon finds us hungry and ready to eat an early dinner before heading out of the city. Where to eat, my suggestion is Max. The space is clean and simply appointed. We arrive just after opening so we find ourselves to be the only ones in the restaurant.

We order a glass of wine and begin our dinner experience. The server gives us just the right level of service as we order. Shortly after our food arrives. It is hot and delicious.

I will definitely be back during dinner rush to see if we get the same experience but for now Popped In for a drink and dinner in the quiet lull that is a New York summer. Interestingly he place was busy but pleasant and they manage the right level for background noise and chatter. And now the food: Great wine selections as always and the food is simple but classic and well done on the selections. Generous too which is no longer the ubiquitous case in this fair city. They do take out. They actually listen to what you want and I am sure if there was an issue they would o the right thing.

One of my favorite Italian restaurants in all of NYC. I've been eating at Max for many years both at this location and when we end up in Williamsburg. Max gives you an old school, romantic, italian restaurant vibe with hearty italian food that lives up to it's warm cozy atmosphere. These are hearty plates that look too big to finish at first, but once you take a bite you just can't stop. The meals and drinks here are all reasonably priced, and this is a very sexy date spot as well as a fun spot to meet friends.

If you love great Italian food you will love Max! Food is fine nothing great. We came for pizza and were quickly told there was no pizza. So neighborhood recs, don't listen! The Srozzapreti was very good and is the only thing keeping me from leaving a 1 star review. One of the worst meatballs I have ever had. Mushy and very strange flavor.

Also, the sauce tasted like it came from a can. Their lasagna and their meatballs polpette are out of this world my gradma aside! Good food, nice ambiance and good service. I came here with a large party on a Friday night for dinner. They were able to accommodate the last minute change in reservation party, but we had the table only for an hour and half since they were booked up. The place is pretty small.

Aside from the time crunch, we had a good time here. I ordered the truffle fries and truffle ravioli. I'm obsessed with truffles.

The fries were good, but not truffley. Overall, my experience at Max was pretty good. The food is delicious, the space is so adorable and intimate, but the service is a tad spotty. My friends and I arrived about 30 minutes before our reservation.

We had a drink at the bar, and the place was mostly empty at that point. As soon as we were ready to sit down, the hostess was a bit weird about bringing us to our table since one of my friends was running late. But the restaurant was really filling up at this point, we had a reservation, and we were ready to start ordering appetizers immediately. Reluctantly, the hostess seated us and then put a little pressure on us to order quickly, making a comment about needing to turn over the table.

We had the Burrata special, which was possibly the most amazing thing I've ever eaten! We also shared a Margharita pizza. For my meal, I ordered the Spaghetti al Vongole, which came with over a pound of clams By the time we were leaving an hour and a half later, the restaurant was empty again, so the whole table weirdness seemed really moot. Still, I'd go back to try some more pasta dishes! The management is stupid - got out order wrong twice - tomato sauce from a can - meatballs are spam. The Mexican wait staff rested our food on the table, then walked off before we could ask for any condiments.

My date and I went there for dinner on a Friday night 7: It was loud and the people who sat at the bar were ,loud drunk, and obnoxious. The food had an ugly presentation like THEY dumped it into the plate and the taste was terrible!!! I had better microwave Italian food from the freezer section of my local supermarket than I had from here!! Unfortunately, I have to update my review based on our most recent visit to Max. This has always been our neighborhood go-to for great food and reliable service. We've even had family give us gift cards to Max because they knew how much we loved it.

Unfortunately, on our last visit our experience was not what we have come to expect. First, the wrong main course was brought out to my husband. Upon realizing the mistake, they took the incorrect order back and started on the correct one, which took about 10 minutes to arrive. Had I known it would take so long, I would have asked them to just take my dish back and keep it warm. So I ate my meal while he waited for his.

Unfortunately, my pasta was not properly cooked either. I like al dente but this was basically still uncooked. My husband finally got his dinner and enjoyed it. The lack of any real acknowledgement of the poor experience was extremely disappointing. Given the many options in our neighborhood and this experience, I don't think this will be on our go-to list anymore. I was craving Italian food so I decided to check yelp and see what's around that convenient and tasty! My husband and I and couple friends ordered and and it couldn't have been any better.

I was told to try the penne pomodoro. Great meat sauce pasta! We also ordered the skirt steak with truffle fries and their plain cheese pizza! We thought we'd have leftovers. To our surprise we finished everything. We'll have to actually stop in next time and try other delicious meals. This is my neighborhood spot , I frequent often AND tell many others about.

I am extremely disappointed because their customer service recently has been awful. This intimate restaurant has fantastic burrata and the eggplant is outstanding. This place was very reasonably priced. But onto the good stuff. They take opentable reservations which is nice and the food was great and we'll proportioned.

Standard bread and olive oil at the table. I had the black spaghetti with shrimp, it was amazing! Spaghetti was one of the best I've had and the black color was a cool dinning experience. It says it was spicy but the spice level was mild at best, for me. It was too dark to take a picture and I'm not a foodie ass who uses flash. So just take my word on it, cool? We came in towards the end of the night and they were happy to seat us, even though it was pretty late and tables were winding down.

The place is so warm and cozy inside. We sat in a corner table by the window. Staff was friendly and made for a lovely dining experience. The burrata was delicious, I believe it was off the "Specials" menu. Then split the barbaietola and orecchiet pugliesi. All our dishes were very tasty and came out timely. Topped off with a nice bottle of red! I would definitely go back again.

A true delicious hidden gem in Tribeca I'll admit it, we usually troll the highly populated, highly-reviewed places when we're in the city, but I had our friend, who lives in Brooklyn, pick a place for dinner and he chose here It's a small, dimly lit, quiet, and intimate place off the beaten path of busy streets.

We had a reservation and were quickly seated. Their bread is divine! As a fellow carb-lover, I had to restrain myself from filling up on the bread I ordered one of their daily specials- fresh fettuccine in a fresh spinach pesto sauce. It came in a bowl and appeared to be a normal sized portion, when in fact, it turned out to be a lot! I ate a lot, but barely made a dent in it. The pesto was so good, and just reeked of those fresh ingredients.

It came with a huge dollop of ricotta cheese on top which complemented it perfectly. Lasagna- hubby and my friend both ordered this, and turns out they could have shared. It was huge, and the small pot it came in proved to be quite deep. The sauce and cheese were delicious, but the noodles were kind of soggy in the bottom half and started to have the consistency of spaghetti-o's Lobster ravioli in spicy tomato sauce- my friend's girlfriend had this and it was also delish.

Service was attentive, my water glass was never empty I wish I was hungrier when we came here, because all the fresh pasta was really wonderful! But the portions are huge, I'd definitely recommend sharing! Max Restaurant Claimed This business has been claimed by the owner or a representative.
