Clemens Hartford: American Publishing Company, Profusely illustrated throughout by Brown, Williams, Day and others and with original illlustrations by Twain himself. Housed in a fine morocco backed foldover case, the blue morocco spine panel with raised bands gilt, the compartments of the spine with gilt ruled panels enclosing gilt tooled corner devices. A superb copy of the book.

Beautifully preserved, bright clean and very fine. The cloth in excellent condition and virtually without wear, the text-block clean and tight, the hinges sound. An excellent example of a book notoriously difficult to obtain in fine condition due to the content of the cloth. Copies of early states of the First Edition are scarce.
Tom Sawyer. He had been a riverboat captain and could steer a boat up or down the river through snags or chutes, around islands and bends. The main goal of the trip was to walk most of the way, but the two travelers found themselves using different forms of transport as they traverse the continent. A very enjoyable and humorous work, in which the author blends autobiography and fiction, facts and tall tales. Samuel L. Clemens , who wrote under the pen name Mark Twain, is considered to be one of America's greatest humorists and writers of all times.
Hartford: American Publishing Co, Brown cloth with gilt lettering. Binding has been professionally repaired, new head and foot, new tan endpapers. Last two hundred pages or so have some darkening or smoke damage, mostly to margins. All text legible. Name penned on fep.
Tissue guard intact, foxed as is portrait. One page of table on contents worn at edges, A few finger smudges. A solid copy with sturdy binding that should last for many years to come. Very good. Day and other artists - with also three or four pictures made by the author of this book, without outside help; in all three hundred and twenty-eight illustrations.
