The Paladin of Callendro

The Paladin of Callendro is a very enjoyable read. It involves adventure, warfare, deception, romance, and allows a common person-Sian- to use his physical and mental skills to make a huge impact on all those around him. This is Tom Nelson's 2nd book and I am very much looking forward to his 3rd. A richly detailed fantasy that provides plenty of drama and adventure. The characters are vivid and lively.

The Paladin of Callendro by Tom Nelson (2010, Paperback)

This book is not yet featured on Listopia. The personal and religious conflicts add a gritty realism and the fantasy world is as credible and tangible as history of the ages. Nelson has a keen eye for detail and talent for submersing the reader into the realm of Callendro. I'm not an easy reader to please but this book caught my attention like few do. Medieval fiction is not a widely popular subject because nearly all of the books sing the same tune: While this book has some of those qualities, it twisted them and made them more interesting, suprising, and detailed then most books do.

This book isn't just romance, the battle scenes and there are many are incredibly detailed and make you feel like your a ghost, watching over Sian's the main character shoulder as he fights. I would definately recomend this book if your a fan of Medieval fiction, huge battles, and suprises.

The Paladin of Callendro by Tom Nelson

A story of good vs. This book goes into moral issues regarding the church, it's leaders, and the role of a knight.

Issues that surprisingly can be of interest today. Nelson's passion and concern for nature is evident throughout the book. Very good descriptions, easy to visualize the various locations in the story. A good book for discussion groups.
