It is a wedge but it is also contoured to your sit bones and has a cutout for the tail bone. This releaves pressure on the hips and spine and makes me sit up straighter with better posture. I have used it now for 3 weeks and my hip and leg pain are gone. My chiropractor is amazed at how much he didn't have to adjust my hips after using it and I believe it has to do with the Freedom Cushion.

I have recommended it to my coworkers in the office. You can tell the difference the first time you sit on it that it is truly different than an ordinary wedge cushion. Do not buy this. I went back are read the reviews from to some present. I can't believe it is the same product being described by some.

So either they change the material that the product is made from it doesn't fit the description of what I got and after sitting on it for less then 5 minutes I think my ass and back are worse, I won't go into how my cockal feels since I didn't even know where it is. I has given me a major headache and literary I can say a major pain in the ass. I am returning it in the box and then in the even bigger box it came in. I will say I should have read the reviews before ordering.

I have a problem with lower-back pain on long car trips, and I have a little ten-year-old Ford Escort with hammocking seat cushions, and I was planning a ten hour road trip to Washington D. Since all I really needed was a replacement of some kind for the car seat padding which had been mashed flat, I was having a problem finding a therapeutic cushion that was slim enough. Most were so cushy they boosted me up until my head was hitting the roof. Since I read a lot of reviews on Amazon from people who specifically mentioned using this cushion in their cars, I decided to make it my last gamble before I left.

It raised me up just high enough so that my seat was level, back to front, again! The contour was nice, and then, when I'd been driving so long that my back started hurting anyway, I flipped the cushion over to the flat side and that did the trick for the rest of the drive. It didn't shift around when I got out either.

I can't yet attest to it's life-span, but for the price and for my needs, this was the perfect choice. I have an injured tailbone, and this pad only minorly helped with my pain. I used it both on a plane and in an office chair, and while it helped a little bit, my pain would still return after about 30 minutes. I've since purchased a large donut foam pillow, that was cheaper, too, from Amazon. I love it to pieces and recommend it over this pad for tailbone pain. For pain, I recommend this one: Blue - 18" Diameter This pad is still very nice, and promotes good posture and has decent cushion to it, it just didn't meet my need.

I suffer from chronic low back pain and was considering upgrading my 05 Dodge seats to power seats to try and get some relief. Decided to try these first. My wife is now using mine on the kitchen chairs so have to buy another. One person found this helpful.

I really wanted this pad to be as awesome as some of the reviews claimed it is. However, I have given it several hours of use over 2 days, and I honestly have to say that it causes me more pain with it than without it. I have compressed discs in my lower back. I tried this pad in an office chair, on the sofa, and in 2 more living room chairs. It literally made my rear sore! It aggravated my sciatic nerve, too. The only reason I didn't give it one star is because it does seem to be well made.

It just doesn't do what it claims to do. I have a pinched sciatic nerve in my back that makes sitting in or driving a car a painful challenge. This product helps me ride more comfortably in the car. I wasn't sure if I should get the chair with the Headrest as the one I have in the company office is the standard one. I was amazed how comfortable it is. I am programmer and recline a lot while coding. This provides perfect support.

The only chair you will ever need to buy! As a chronic back sufferer there are good days and there are some very bad days. I have found just after 30 minutes on my Freedom chair makes my pains go away. I can't say enough about the quality and craftsmanship of the chair. Just get one and you too will be a believer. I don't have one but I'm sure it rocks. I do, however have a Freedom task chair which I recently purchased replacement armrests for.

Customer service was excellent! Essential for any job I take-I bring it with me. I have had scoliosis surgery, I have herniated discs-allover regular back problems. This chair fits my body like a glove and gives support everywhere it's needed. It has been moved a few times over some long distances and the wheels are fine. I came into work this Monday and the custodian had shoved it under my desk. When I pulled the chair out, there was a rip in the arm material. I just casually looked up the website to see if I could figure out if it was vinyl or if I could glue it and low and behold the arms are STILL under warranty.

I ordered this chair for my home workspace because I had developed tendonitis in both shoulders from sitting at my computer day in and day out on an ordinary dining room chair. Now, thanks to the chair and a lot of physical therapy , my condition has improved markedly, and every time I take a seat, I feel ensconced in luxury and comfort.

The HumanScale chairs are fantastic. Everyone in our office has a Freedom or Freedom Headrest and loves them. The HumanScale Liberty chairs in our conference room look great and are comfortable and easy to adjust. You won't regret it! Good looking, VERY comfortable, our first one lasted over 15 years! Comfortable support all day. I work at the computer hours a week so having a quality chair is incredibly important I've used a handful of other chairs but I like this one the best.

Everything can be adjusted to make sitting all day very comfortable. The price tag is pretty high but well worth it for all day sitting. There is no upright setting. I find myself unintentionally pushing them out to the sides. Do not use them to get up out of the chair.

    6. Makes it difficult to type and mouse. They should stay horizontal. I ordered replacement parts in technogel, which was more expensive than ordering gel with the chair originally. It has a pronounced front lip, which feels like it is forcing you further into a recline. While my SI joint was more relaxed, I noticed increased neck tension at the sides of my skull near the SCM insertion point. Did they run out of screws? You must take out the set screws with an allen key and pins, and remove the arm.

    You can then insert an allen wrench and remove the arm pad screw a little bit at a time. Adjust the tension so it is less firm. If I am leaning back, I need the backrest lower than usual because if it is higher it does not provide adequate lumbar support. Yet when sitting upright I need the backrest higher. When I ordered the chair, the website told me I would be getting an aluminum base.

    The chair arrived with a plastic base. I contacted customer service and they sent me an aluminum base, which arrived damaged because of poor packaging. They sent another base, but packaged it exactly the same, and it was also damaged. Base 3 arrived in good condition, purely by luck. It was packaged the same way as the other two bases simply placed in between a few pieces of paper , and the box was damaged along the sides where the base broke through. The base escaped major damage. I was very disappointed in the incompetence of their shipping department during this ordeal.

    This was not a complicated task, and they managed to screw it up not once, not twice, but three times, after my feedback that the packaging was inadequate. How can they put a heavy aluminum base in a cardboard box and expect it to arrive safely? Have they heard of bubble wrap? I had to call customer service and get them to give me the numbers.

    Most comfortable chair I've ever owned! I love the adjustability and the way the head rest supports me in every position. Combined with my QuickStand Lite, my office is now my happy place. I've had this chair for 10 years and couldn't be happier. When I had some issues with the arm rest pads, Humanscale replaced them promptly and free of charge. The best chair I've used. I was fortunate enough to "inherit" a Freedom chair from someone who was retiring at work.

    Even though it was used, I liked it right away. So much, that I wanted one for myself at home. I am a writer and spend many hours a day at the computer. This is the only chair I've found really works for me. I had a horrible chair at home. This year, I was redoing my home office and decided that I'd invest in myself. The first purchase was getting the Freedom chair. I was delighted to find that the customized one I bought for myself was even better than the inherited one at work!

    Later I got myself a new Uplift desk, too. What a difference it makes for me to have both of these items.
