Lenore overlooked out the back window of her restaurant and spotted a dark spot in the snow. Could one of her sons have carelessly tossed garbage outside? She marched outside to investigate, and the truth struck her sense and in front of her eyes was a lifeless body of a young woman, her hair was in a ponytail, and she seemed so young. Why hurt someone young and beautiful, Lenore thought.

Later on, no one came forward claiming to know the young woman. However rumors quickly spread that she was an angel sent to protect Fog Point from danger. Had the entire town gone crazy?

Many left gifts; others prayed in the snow banks while others came in search of inner peace. Guests arrived and left on a daily basis but then suddenly disappeared. When Jake and May, two part-time private investigators discover that danger still lurked in the blinding whitening snow, fear spread fast like a rushing snow. As the clouded past eventually collides with the present, the truth gradually starts to surface.

But the question is, when the whole truth is finally revealed, who will be set free and who will drown in their lies? Black Ice, the second book in Fog Point series, is full of imaginative and intriguing characters. Each person in Fog Point seems to have something to hide, in other words, it is a town full of secrets. The author manages to keep different threads open to keep the mystery element of the book interesting.

Apart from the mystery itself, Linda Hall also tackles the theme of Christianity and faith. She does relate the mystery and the real world and encourages the readers that the lack of faith in God does not in any way change the truth or God- small children believe what they are told, but this does not in any way change the truth. Set in a fictional town Fog Town, and narrated from the different point of view and featuring different themes, Black Ice is brilliantly woven and promises to hook the readers from the first page to the last.

WEIRD ICE FOG! (11.26.12 - Day 759)

On a morning in the summer, Peter Glass finally makes his way on the island, tired, and fleeing for his dear life. He meets Zoe, Naomi, and Jo. Within few hours, he forms a special bond with Jo. But Peter is devastated when he discovers that his friend Jo has been murdered. Hall does not present the usual cardboard perfect Christians either. Her portrayal is much more realistic and honest. In addition, the details in the setting of Fog Point make it feel like it's a place I could drive up and see.

I can't wait to read another Linda Hall book. Another good mystery by Linda Hall From Amazon Winter comes to Fog Point, and for the first time in forty-five years ice has moved into the harbor. It snows every day, and as if that isn't bad enough, Lenore Featherjohn finds the body of a young woman back of her bed and breakfast. Lenore has two sons, who are a long way from being saints, and she doesn't want anyone suspecting them. She tells one little lie, just trying to protect her family, and it mushrooms until she is piling lie upon lie, with no end in sight.

Amy McLaren, minister's wife and a mother, knows something is wrong with her family, but she doesn't know what to do. And she's not sure she believes in God anymore, a disaster for a pastor's wife. Her husband is keeping secrets from her and her daughter is rebelling. Something is seriously wrong in Fog Point, and Jake Rikker and May Williams, private investigators, are on a hunt for a murderer before anyone else gets killed. Black Ice is a tangled story with too many people who have too much to hide. Fans of Linda Hall's Fog Point series will welcome this one.

A New Favorite Author I will be rectifying this. Black Ice wrapped around me and pulled me in, holding my attention until the very satisfying conclusion. Multi-dimensional and realistic characters. The Christianity elements resemble the Christians I know, chipped, cracked and broken in progress and process. Guests arrived and left on a daily basis, but the TV reporter and cameraman stayed for several days then suddenly disappeared.

When Jake and May, two part time investigators, discover that danger still lurked, fear spread like a rushing flood. After the snarled past eventually connects with the present, the elusive answers are just a stroke away.

Apr 15, Ashley Daviau rated it it was ok. I started off by enjoying this book more than the first in the series but by the end I was just bored with the story. I mean, the mystery was intriguing but I felt it just plodded on much longer than necessary and that spoiled my enjoyment of this book. I found myself skimming the last 40 pages or so just so it would be over.

Dec 16, Melanie rated it it was amazing Shelves: Linda Hall is one of my favorite Christian Suspense authors. I love how she weaves the stories of the characters together.
