I list this book as one of the recommended reading titles in Chapter 5: This book is a perfect example of why I continue to use this series as a resource.

The book offers a great overview and gives readers the tools they need to navigate any restaurant safely. Chapter 3 focuses on ingredient and preparation technique guidelines and has really handy color-coded charts, lists of potentially unsafe ingredients, and examples of questions diners can use to ask a restaurant about the safety of a dish. Several chapters focus on specific types of cuisines and contain sample menus with information about common dishes, including gluten free decision factors and food allergen preparation considerations.

In addition, many of the dishes contain photographs which help the reader get a sense of what a dish might look like. Overall, this book offers a wealth of gluten free and food allergy dining information and is the perfect book to have handy while traveling with special dietary needs.

Traveling is hard enough without allergies but when you add this to the mix, it is near impossible. What I like about this book is that it provides the traveler with basic information about many ethnic foods around the word.

Not everyone is a foodie, so this book is very helpful. Approach to Safe Eating Experiences provides the diner with the basic steps when interacting with service and kitchen staff. This is a great reference book worth reading before you take that dream vacation. This is a great book to use as a manual when traveling, eating-out, or grocery shopping. This is not a good book to sit down and leisurely read unless you have a fantastic memory. I appreciate how every detail is well-researched and organized logically. I will be using their online resources for my trip to Europe.

The 4th edition of this informative book is a must for every gluten-traveler's bookshelf. It is packed with handy advice that Kim and her co-author have assembled from their personal experiences with celiac disease, food sensitivities, and world travel. Especially helpful are the sections on eating out in various ethnic restaurants--such as Mexican, Italian, and so on--and what one should be aware of. This book also makes a perfect gift for newly-diagnosed friends and relatives, but you will want one for yourself as well.
