Meg is obsessed with being a sheep farmer and stubborn as she is it more often than not comes before the people in her life.
The pain of betrayal by people she cared about causes her to make some bad decisions and personally, I just wanted to slap her. You have to give her credit for her success but she seems to have lost all common sense in her relationships. That being said I found all those British terms distracting and some issues highly improbable. The art of sheep farming was interesting I'm not convinced a woman could handle all that with the little help she had.

Freda Lightfoot writes a great story. She has continued on nicely with this story and Lissa' s mother comes to be with her for a day.

Meg continues her plight with Broombank. Tam's character continues to entertain and Jack finally returns from the war. The saga continues and I am looking forward to reading the next book. I did not enjoy this book. I was annoyed by the main character, Meg, most of all.
The writer made Meg a hard working woman, but Meg has little common sense. Especially in her private life. She is more than naive, she is just plain stupid. Her loyalties are totally misplaced and basically make her miserable and worried all the time. I couldn't wait to read the end, annoyingly, to see how it turned out. I like endearing characters for heroines, not women who make themselves and their loved ones miserable.
A young woman is "given" and baby from her best friend, tries not to love her but falls under her charms. Living in fear of the real mother coming to take back her daughter, she stuggles to make a home and business of her own. While she is successful she realizes that she is missing a relationship with a man who helps her along the way. She finally ends up making a family of her own.

I never gave raising sheep a thought,this novel was entertaining as well as informative. I assumed that wool was wool never thought about it and did not realize how much work was involved. This story is welL written and kept me guessing what would happen next. A good follow on to the previous book able to relate to all the characters.
