The s were full of experimental U2 but this is where I went to from Achtung.

Fits nicely along War, Joshua Tree, Achtung! Baby and The Best of U2 - with the B-sides. I've observed that U2 has left their old label, Island Records, for Interscope. I hear, on this cd, U2 sounding more pop and mainstream than they ever have before. This could be an attempt to find a new audience after 20 years, but it could also be that the band's fans are mostly over 22 years of age. That means we don't expect U2 to sound like the Backstreet Boys and that we are able to know the difference between a band that produces bland, slickly manufactured pop and the kind of pop U2 have created here.

The band hasn't sold out on this cd, but they have the potential for the most Top 40 hits this time. More power to them. I'd rather hear a smart, poppy song from U2 than most of the new artists making music today.

U2 don't repeat themselves, they travel to new ground instead. Every three cds they reinvent their sound and this cd is no exception. The band sounds very relaxed this time around, something they've never accomplished until now. These, alongside stadium stompers like "Beautiful Day" and "Elevation" and acoustic strummers like "Kite" and "Wild Honey" round out the cd. It seems like there's something for everyone on this disc. U2 seem to being saying, "Let's have fun, let's sell a lot of records and let's make smarter pop songs than Britney Spears. One person found this helpful. I thoroughly enjoyed "Zooropa" and "Pop," but it's nice to have a new CD from them with a classic-U2-feel to it.

One of the things that makes U2 an enduring part of the rock scene is their ability to adapt and reinvent when necessary. The limited edition of the CD includes a bonus CD called "Summer Rain"--definitely worth a listen, and definitely interesting to die-hard U2 fans. While I like "Beautiful Day," I feel that the other tracks overshadow it. But you won't be able to turn off the song if it's a nice day outside! Bono's voice and the music will work magic on you The CD hasn't left my posession since it arrived last week. It lives in whatever CD player I have with me at the time. I've already gone back and purchased another copy as a gift for my sister.

The CD is a departure from "Pop"'s electronica, and "Zooropa"'s odd experimentation, but the sound is not a retread of the late 80's early 90's like so many critics have said.

All That You Can't Leave Behind

Sure, when you remove all the electronic effects from their music, there's no way to not draw comparisons to "Unforgettable Fire", "Joshua Tree", or even "Achtung Baby". Bono's voice is too unique for there to be no parallels. The Edge's guitar playing is what it is, and again when you strip away the electronics, the sound is instantly recognizable. The strength in this CD is the maturity of the songs, and the overall flow of the songs. Very uplifting and cheery. Overall, there's not a bad or even weak song among the bunch, and that's a rarity in most CD's.

In Grace song we find the balance and the defense for particular situations that may occour in life: This tour it's so beautiful. I make a tatoo on my arm. When i look Luv it frm ma heart I remember the first time I heard this. I fell in love with U2 with this album With a new millennium dawning, U2 were working on another reinvention or return to a sort of stripped-down and more classic approach.

Instead of experimenting with humming electronic sounds they concentrated on the main vocabulary of rock music: The track was dedicated to Aung San Suu Kyi, but the theme of travelling is also relevant on a more general level. With The Edge playing such a distinctive and unique guitar riff that only The Edge can deliver that way, it is obvious that U2 decided to include their trademark sounds again.

Listening to "Kite" I can feel that U2 put their whole heart and soul in the music.
