Jones is also a member of the Poetry Society , and his poems have appeared in Poetry Review. Apart from a cameo in Terry Gilliam 's Jabberwocky and a memorable minor role as a drunken vicar in the BBC sitcom The Young Ones , Jones has rarely appeared in work outside his own projects. This was Jones' last performance with the group prior to his aphasia diagnosis. Jones married Alison Telfer in , and they have two children together, Sally born in , and Bill born in Jones and Telfer had an open marriage.

In , Jones was diagnosed with primary progressive aphasia , a form of frontotemporal dementia that impairs the ability to speak and communicate. He had first given cause for concern during the Monty Python reunion show Monty Python Live Mostly in July because of difficulties learning his lines. Jones has published a number of articles on political and social commentary, principally in newspapers The Daily Telegraph , The Guardian , The Independent , and The Observer.

Many of these articles criticised the War on Terror , belittling it as "declaring war on an abstract noun" and comparing it to attempting to "annihilate mockery". In August , Jones was one of public figures who were signatories to a letter to The Guardian expressing their hope that Scotland would vote to remain part of the United Kingdom in September's referendum on that issue. As you would expect from the Quick Reads series, this was a fast-paced read. Best known as a member of the Monty Python comedy team, Terry Jones has written a humorous yarn which is in similar vein to their sketches. One scene in particular involving a meeting of a residents' association felt like it would work very well as a performance piece.

As well as being consistently funny, there is also a mildly satirical aspect to the story which looks at aspects of modern life such as bureaucracy, As you would expect from the Quick Reads series, this was a fast-paced read. I enjoyed this very much and would recommend it to those looking for a quick, funny story with the occasional laugh out loud moment. I had to read this for book club, it was such a fun quick read that I struggled to put it down. Its hard to describe this book but all i can say it will have you laughing. I wish this book was a big book as it would of been nice to get to know the characters more.

What I was concerned about- im not a dog lover but how did Nigel the dog stay with when Malcom went to stay with his sister?

I am not entirely sure I'll share it as intended with my budding urban planner son - Trevor the planning officer describes the problem in a nutshell but he is also shown to be someone who does not know how to look on the bright side of life.

Never read anything by Terry Jones before and this taster of his work makes me want to read more. Very comical throughout. Basically a planning application is put forward and people disagree and this leads to a kidnapping and murder.
