Once you visit you will no doubt want to return. For your information - Tesco will deliver to the cottage. Inn - 5 minutes walk. Dog Bowl - Restricted to ground floor. Bright light and airy feeling cottage, overlooking Badachro Bay, with parking opposite. Going in the front door the staircase is in front of you with the kitchen diner to the right and sitting room to the left. Under the stairs was the " utility room ".

The kitchen diner and the small half open plan passage linked together. The bed rooms were bright and airy with front windows and velux's in the roof. The bed in the master was one of the best beds we've had in a holiday cottage. We found that downstairs always felt cold even though the sun was often focusing through the windows - we had the heating on sometimes but it made the house stuffy and airless.

The pub is called " oyster catcher"in Gaelic. We were in luck and there were a couple of tables to choose from and enjoyed a gorgeous 2 course meal which being coeliac the food was all cooked as though " gluten free" A must is the drive via Shieldig to the road across the Applecross Peninsular - we found out that the road goes past the Applecross Pub and goes on for several miles which is very picturesque.

We've been over Applecross several times Prior. We enjoyed the return trip using the road down to Garde from Ulapool. A drive which is a must is the road through Strath just turn left at the Heritage Museum and follow" you're nose" this single track road gives great views over the coast and across to the mountains on Sky and at some points The Apple Cross Penninsular - this road is not marked as no through road but you come to and end at Reed Point Lighthouse where there is a turning place to turn round.

We saw an eagle flying low just out of Strath, a pinemarten ran across the road near the village in Badachro saw plenty of herons in the bay and seals near the Shieldig hotel in the bay. Many deer generally all over plus more eagles near Sheildig village near Torridon.

Some ideas to get you inspired

Mr Stephenson - May The house itself was fine for what we wanted and the location is quiet with a lovely view. The property is right next to a road so you occasionally have to be careful of some vehicles that speed past, although this is not the property's fault! However on arrival we found that 1 it had not been properly cleaned, meaning that we had to spend time cleaning before we could properly move in 2 Some of the crockery was chipped and cracked and should be replaced 3 the microwave has a damaged lining so it should also be replaced.

These issues were reported and we did receive an explanatory response, however we still feel that the issues should have been addressed before we arrived for our much-needed holiday. As was explained by personal email there was work done on the chimney in the week before this booking which unfortunately left the entire house covered in soot. In our efforts to ensure all the soot was removed before your stay a couple of other areas that would normally be checked on every changeover were overlooked.

Your email was discussed with my housekeeper and the areas which you highlighted have now been dealt with. As I pointed out in my email to you, the visitor book contains many comments about how clean the house is and the high standard of the fittings, so this slight drop in our standards on this occasion was a temporary blip. This was a great cottage in a lovely location, the views from each window are amazing. Cottage is well looked after and very comfortable. A great place for our family to relax and enjoy the holidays.

Handy for the local inn. Cottage was clean and tidy. Mr Thomson - September We'd been to Gairloch many years ago, although never to Badachro, where Blacksmith's Cottage is located. The setting is beautiful looking out over the bay at Badachro, sheep wandering past a couple of times, and no street lights - a true get-away-from-it-all setting.

That said the Badachro Inn, a five minute stroll along the road, has fantastic food and a great atmosphere. We'd highly recommend this cottage and location - as long as you were looking to switch off and really relax. Mr Byers - August Blacksmith's Cottage was a fantastic base for us during our holiday to Gairloch and Badachro. Everything you could want from a holiday cottage. Plenty of storage downstairs for coats and walking boots, fully equipped kitchen with a gorgeous solid wood table and comfortable faux?

Secure and large garden for dogs. Really handy for lots of beach walks and great local butchers. Some fantastic winter sunrises and sunsets. The cottage was in an excellent location, close to beach and some really good pubs and restaurants all within walking distance. The cottage was very clean and welcoming, and extremely well equipped, we cooked Christmas dinner with no problem. The bedrooms were warm and comfortable and bathrooms clean and efficient.

Really good supply of logs. Very comfortable accommodation in a fabulous setting, close to shops, pubs and beach. We even sat out on the terrace in February as it was sunny!
