Unfortunately my camera failed miserably. I don't know why Alex looks seasick in Barry's picture; maybe it was because my reactolight specs were completely black on entering the tunnel and I couldn't see a thing steering Absolutely ace day, all thanks and praise to Amelia for organising it.

It was good to put faces to user- names and to meet at least one person I hadn't seen for a few years. Ich hatte auch die Gelegenheit, mein Deutsch zu verbessern. Der deutschen Familie sei Dank!

Just a few photos to add to those already posted. Jockeying for position at the start of the first tunnel.

Dudley and Netherton Tunnel tour a huge success!

Strange how no-one really seemed to want to be first! First tunnel almost done and dusted - Amelia's tunnel-itch well scratched, but still niggling away! The bank-support crew had a bit of a party to celebrate the SotP's first penetration of the Dudley Tunnel. I bet there's many a member could give them sound advice on lighting that brazier! Out of the tunnel, and everyone was blinking like a rabbit caught in the headlights of a juggernaught!

We made way for the mother-ship that had nudged, nursed and nurtured us through our dark times in the tunnel. After a bit of a portage the first of a few, did we but know it! Time for lunch at one of the most civilised and sophisticated canoe lunch sites I have ever experienced. Are all SotP outings like this?

The Netherton Tunnel was as long and as straight as a very long, straight thing, and, although we could see the end of the tunnel as soon as we entered it, the more we paddled, the further away the light at the end of the tunnel appeared to be. However, we tucked it under our belts in around 25 minutes.

Time for another portage One last push and we were back where we started from strangely, no-one was interested in doing another lap! Don't you just love circular routes? No hassle, no shuttle, just get off the water, load up and head off home. Many thanks to everyone who made my and Dom's first ever SotP trip truly memorable.
