Toews, who previously was a pastor in the Christian and Missionary Alliance, gives hundreds of talks each year. He tells groups both religious and secular the same thing: God deeply loves the poor and the marginalized. Level Ground invests in the communities it is part of. It pays its farmers well, and also pays photography subjects appropriately for using their images for marketing.

It offers incentives for its employees to bike or bus to work and has remained landfill-free for 13 years. The following is an edited transcript. This was always about farmers and what can be sustainably sourced. My wife and I got intrigued by growing our own food. That changed everything. Our world has systems in place that assume to get rich, you have to leave people and land in destitution.

I want a system designed for the good of all who bear the image of God, where justice and mercy infuse every pore of it. When the Christmas story was unfolding, farmers were first growing this strain. That was my reaction for years, but you can sound like the ethics police and make everyone feel bad, including yourself.

Men and Women in the Work of the Lord

We adopted three of our four children from Haiti, where Columbus killed the natives. I took my son to meet some Ethiopian farmers who were sleeping 15 to a room smaller than his bedroom. He asked them how much money they made in a year. My business partner Hugo Ciro got us into fair trade. We needed a name that could build a brand of products from the same types of places all around the world. How do you think about power theologically? My goal is to connect what is currently disconnected. For example, we have this notion that you have to work full time to pay the mortgage in 30 years.

We try to lead by being transparent. Then the product has to be good. Folks will reach for a product once to be morally virtuous, but not twice. All our products need to be high-quality to establish a loyal customer base. The fruit-drying facility in Colombia is in their 15th year in operation, their fourth facility. When we started, there was no organic farming in this area. Now we have acres certified and four competing companies which is wonderful for the market.

Working at Youth For Christ: 52 Reviews | leondumoulin.nl

Our only record of Jesus being angry is when the marketplace is misunderstood. I still work here and am only seeking opportunities due to some health concerns with a family member in Seattle. I love what I do and am hoping to continue this work in Seattle. I get the opportunity to impact the lives of young people in a positive way. Not every student is willing to accept positive reinforcement. Youth Core Ministries does their utmost to cultivate a healthy work environment. Not only to they fend the flames of growing spiritually but to also growing mentally.

I had the opportunity to start something and build something. I learned a lot. I worked in a culture that was entirely different than the one I grew up in. Very challenging but good. Opportunity to do ministry while going to seminary.

Steps to Christ

You don't make a lot of money doing part-time youth ministry. Completely volunteer work was lots of hard work but help me to grow in my faith, would definitely recomend. Working with Youth For Christ was amazing. Ministry experience. Costs money to volunteer. I worked mainly with Single mothers programs trying to develop support groups and outreach.

I do not believe they have Youth for Christ in this area any longer.

Working Out and Christianity

Emotionally rewarding job. Non-for-profit group so I had to do a lot of fund raising. I was already partnering with YFC in areas of ministry around the community in which I was serving as a youth pastor. When approached about becoming a team staff member I was more than happy to say yes. The staff loved serving the needs of what was then known as at risk youth. There was great joy in the job when a youth was able to find a sense of belonging and value in both community, self, and the church. I thouroughly enjoyed working alongside this team of people.

Working with youth and children in the inner city, does it get any more rewarding! Touching lives and helping families is such a blessing. I think they changed me more than I did them. Serving people is the most fulling task! Fundraising to foot your salary. Always with kids which was a fun filled learning experience, it makes you want to grow as a person not just because of the kids but because of what would learn from everything that would be going on.
