Let me start with the things I liked: A girl who has immense power and the last of her kind, wicked queen, promise of a love story, great reviews I wasn't reading his moments of sensitivity and thinking how completely cliched and cheesy they were, I believed him!

I am from the south myself and laughed at quite a few phrases and personality quirks of hers that I could relate to. Mostly, she is a genuine friend and it comes across very well in the writing. I don't think anything big, but just heads up Things I didn't like or that just started to irritate me: I felt like the book dragged quite a bit in the middle.

I did, however, stay up reading all night so it is possible I was just tired. The beginning really set the book up for me and then I felt like we kept repeating pretty much the same scenario over and over until the end. Amelia flirts with Aiden and leads him on, then decides she can't be with him because she is betrothed to someone else, Amelia gets lied to by Yes there were a few things that happened in between but that was pretty much the gist. I was able to skim through multiple pages without missing anything interesting, and at the end I felt like we didn't really find out much that we didn't learn in the first few pages.

Make a choice and stick with it!! She kept saying how she hated lying and moping about it, but that didn't stop her from doing it when she felt it necessary. I get it, you don't want to lie but you have to, so come to grips with it and move on! I don't mean to sound mean, but the phrase "get your big girl panties on" came to mind. She was just a wreck for most of the book.

But I will say it was poorly set up. It came out of nowhere and made me feel like the author was trying to wrap the book up and just threw that in there for a little spice. If you read the book, and you read really often, you are going to know exactly what I'm talking about. I don't want to give big spoilers so I will leave it at that. So after all that Would I recommend the book?

Sure, it wasn't awful by any means, it just wasn't everything I hoped it would be from all the raving reviews and the great beginning. The black knit shirt, jeans and knee-high boots spoke of someone trying not to stick out, and yet she chose to wear a come-get-me red coat. And then she would run from him. Another woman, not all that long ago, had needed his help. Her pleas for protection, promises of love and affection had dried up. The Babineaux family should be capable of taking care of their own.

Lisette blinked and her mouth worked soundlessly for a moment. She blew out a breath and shook her head, appearing to collect herself.

See a Problem?

Lisette gulped down at least half of the cold coffee before setting the mug down with a clink. She sighed and folded her hands on the table in front of her. He smothered memories wrapped in warmth of Lisette doing exactly this little act with her hands a number of times before saying something serious. Come to a cop, off duty? When it came down to it, he was part of a system of government that did its job when people allowed it. But he hated saying no to those cypress green eyes.

For Lisette, it is her last hope. She doesn't know where else to turn and going to Mathieu for a safe haven is her best chance for survival. Lisette is being stalked by her ex-boyfriend who is some kind of wet works covert agent. The premise of this story is a scary possibility for those entering the kinky lifestyle.

For Lisette, she journeys into kink and makes the mistake of dating a man without a conscience. Seth is the ex Turning to the man who dumped you, for help, is a humbling experience. Seth is the ex who equates BDSM with beating a woman to a pulp. His delusional grasp of the lifestyle is typical of those who vilify kink. While this is an extreme shown in the story, it is something which can happen in real life. Bristol does a good job of showing the extreme as well as a more balanced view of BDSM. The flogging and bondage in this story is accurate and delicious. Bristol does a decent job in her flogging teachings.

The tone is just right to give those outside of kink factual information whilst avoiding a lecturing tone. For example, those who have never been flogged before probably didn't know there are different types of sensation when being flogged. The two most prevalent are thuddy and stingy. Explaining how it feels as well as which kind of flogger would create these two different sensations is well done in the story. There are a few other examples, such as the rope bondage scenes where Ms.

Bristol provides more factual information. The suspense part of this story is written in a manner easily understandable. What woman doesn't fear for her life when her ex-boyfriend attacks her and sends her to the hospital? Bristol uses social media as a tracking mechanism is actually more on point than she gives herself credit for. For those who are not aware, in the electronic age, anonymous is not so anonymous. Once an on-line personality is revealed, many social media applications can identify location of the person.

In this one, it dealt with blogging and photos taken. Many applications will track and post the location of a picture taken. Sometimes, just updating a blog or twitter feed will post the location too. Seth tracking Lisette so easily is plausible as part of the story. From a character perspective, Mathieu is the battered knight riding in to save the day. He's an easy archetype to like because he's a bad boy with a heart of gold.

Plus he's an alpha male with a sensual touch. What romance lover doesn't sigh over this type of hero? Lisette is the typical damsel in distress who is a victim. Perhaps later she will be a survivor. She didn't do much for me because she classified herself as a victim and her actions were not conducive for staying alive. Still, this is probably true to most women in reality so I can't really pick on her that much.

Overall, this is a sweet erotic romance. The suspense is mild and predictable. The characters are likeable if a bit forgettable.
