This is only slightly better than the first novel. Format: Paperback. Told from his perspective, we follow him around the town from bars, diners, gift shops, the marina, etc, where he knows everyone. One can feel and smell the atmospherics of the seaside town. In this case, he is concerned about a middle-aged man, newly arrived in Binnacle Bay, who has apparently fallen to his death from a tall lighthouse on a very foggy night.

The Chief competently processes the evidence, but key to his success is his ability to persuade others to finally reveal their suppressed truths. In the end, the plot is pretty straightforward, the solution never really very far away. The story has an easy flow that is consistent with the laid-back Chief.
