    7. It was interesting to note the effect of the far-off Crimean War on the people of the Orkney Islands. It was also interesting to note the religious conflicts that simmered among the Protestants, and how the people of the Orkneys often hearkened back to non-Christian beliefs with superstitions about henge stones, and visits from dead family members. I am always looking for books set in Orkney, and this one did have that setting.
