A wager and 30 days together brings back all their passion and desires. Loved Philip, but at first couldn't believe anyone would propose after a night and dream about that person for 18 years, but as the story unfolds by the end of the book I believed it.

In my opinion Philip in proposing was trying to keep control of his life with his choice of bride, and then when he was in the marraige from hell he dreamt of his fantastic night of sex with Helene to keep him sane. Helene was a great Heroine and I got the fact why she wanted to remain in control of her life. KP is on my auto buy list now. I loved every single erotic escapade but I didn't think this book was as sexually shocking as the first 2. I loved the fact MY Anthony made an appearance and cant wait to find out more about the other secondry characters especially David Gray.

I loved this book. I didn't want it to end, I couldn't put it down and the only reason I didn't read it in one sitting was because, you know, I have a job to go to. Book 3 of this series tells the story of Madame Helene - who is the owner of the House of Pleasure.

I love a good tortured hero. I also love a good tortured heroine. Fortunately for me, this book has both. The book starts out with Helene, traveling alone from France to England to start a new life f I loved this book. The book starts out with Helene, traveling alone from France to England to start a new life for herself.

On her way there, she meets Philip Ross. Initially, she ignores him At the end of their few days together, they realize that their little fling is really something more. Philip ends up proposing marriage to Helene, but is swiftly turned down because Helene just can't bring herself to trust him or think she's good enough for him. He storms off and they part ways Through a series of events, Philip comes back into Helene's life 18 years later, and neither of them can deny that the attraction and the passion they once had are still there.

So far, I have loved both books in this series. When I got to this one, I honestly thought I was going to dislike it. I mean, I really didn't care about Helene, the owner of the House of Pleasure Talk about breaking your heart. I would give this one more than 5 stars if I could. Philip was in India for awhile where he learned erotic delights. He returns to England where he meets and shows Helene what he knows. She opens a private club for men — a house of pleasure. Philip inherits This was ok, but not as good as the first two books, Simply Sexual and Simply Sinful. Philip inherits an ownership share in the private club from another relative.

He spends time with Helene concerning club business, and they fall in love again. Number of sex scenes: Dec 19, Charlie N. I really did love this book Helen is so witty and sharp tongued that it makes for a great and funny read, Especially when the target of her tongue lashings were often Phillip. I think they make an amazing couple and he is definately her equal in the sense he would never give in to what she wants just because she wants it. Dec 29, Joe rated it it was amazing.

More complicated than the first two in the series, and in some respects better. It was not what I expected as it wasn't as erotic as the first two. This was much more character development and history. I do like the real world problems and how the characters try to make them worse while claiming that they are just doing the best that they can.

I read this title for a couple of challenges this month.

The Pleasure of Reading in Bed Together

Somehow I'd left this title on the back burner. I don't know how it didn't burn a hole thru my e-library in the meantime. Loved this story, the heroine was so worth the wait. There were glimpses of her in the 2 previous installments, I had no idea she was being set up for her own book. There was a lot of time and history covered in this read, flashbacks abound.

Much of it I would consider dark, it did not take away fro I read this title for a couple of challenges this month. Much of it I would consider dark, it did not take away from the story for me. I found it added a great depth. Again, a historical and freakin' hot read. In the end, the emotional part of story is what has stayed with me. Nov 15, Meredith rated it really liked it Shelves: This was another excellent addition to the House of Pleasure series. It was somewhat thicker in plot and had a little less action that previous books in the series but that didn't really diminish its appeal.

This was a book that brought in aspects of the French Revolution nicely and gave light to some of the harsh realities of that time. It was very interesting to see how the House began and get to know the enigmatic character Madame Delornay and understand her history. This is an excellent read This was another excellent addition to the House of Pleasure series. This is an excellent read and readers of the series will enjoy this book immensely. I began the series with this one and had no problem with the story, which was nice. I really liked the hero and heroine in this one. Helene with her tragic past was a strong character, and I found Philip intriguing. There passionate encounter is absolutely hot, and I love that they get a 2nd chance at love. The dynamic between these two in wonderful, Philip and Helene are so passionate with each other, and I enjoyed watching Philip also rediscover himself.

Once I picke I really enjoyed this book. Once I picked this one up, I had a hard time putting it down.

Simply Shameless

Oct 30, Sherlyn rated it liked it. I just tried to get through this book as fast as I could.. Read the trilogy through the library and I found myself skimming more than reading. Nothing at all made sense to me. Helene is French and blonde with blue eyes. When she was a teen her family was captured during the French Revolution. In order for her life to be spared, she had to become a prostitute and service the soldiers. She was not quite fourteen and had a daughter, Marguerite, the following year.

Eighteen years after the prologue she's thirty-six and co-owns a 'pleasure house' with two male ex-prisoners of war that she helped escape when she was a teen. Members pay a yearly fee to have sex there with other members. She's the mother of a twenty-one year old daughter and mother of eighteen-year old twins, Lisette and Christian. She's a terrible mother.

When the twins were one, all the children were sent away to school in Normandy. She lied to them about her occupation and never even gave them her address! I don't think they ever visited her. She seems uncaring and doesn't understand why the twins don't seem to like her, especially Christian. Philip is someone she'd met eighteen years before, right before she became involved with the pleasure house. They'd only known each other for one sex-filled weekend.

He's around forty now, has blond hair and brown-hazel eyes. He's got a nasty attitude and is uptight. Coincidentally he came back into her life. They both said, at different times, that she 'left him' eighteen years before, as if they'd been in a relationship with each other. That comment is so puzzling to me.

There was an unbelievably outrageous sexual incident that happened between Philip, his wife, and her lover years before that had me rolling my eyes, is was that ridiculous. She died after years of declining health but we were never told what was ailing her. Their marriage was a sham and the story behind it was ridiculous and not at all believable. One thing I didn't understand and found annoying was when her oldest daughter got married without telling her, Helene hired people to track her down.

I don't know why the daughter was even brought into the story or why what went down with her husband happened at all. Both were useless characters that didn't do anything for the story. George, one of Helene's business partners, is obsessed with marrying her, even though he's already married. It was discovered by Philip, who now co-owns the place too, that George has been stealing money from the business.

When Helene finds out about it she's not mad and offers to help him out financially! I really don't have anything positive to say about this book other than the sex scenes were explicit, just how I like them, and there were at least six of them, two of which involved Philip and a man named Adam, which I liked best. The characters were emotionless, except for Christian, and the whole novel just didn't make sense.

Simply Shameless is a book worthy of the proprietress of a pleasure house.

Both the characters and the book itself are intelligent, open, understanding, and wonderfully seductive. Helene is a survivor through and through. She has been through some of the worst life has to offer and has come out the other side successful, strong, and deeply caring. From the very first book in the series I admired Helene, but after reading Simply Shameless my respect for her reached new heights.

And nothing made me happier than discovering the hero Ms. Pearce created for such a fantastic heroine fit her to perfection. Upon first meeting Philip, it is clear he is a man full of joy and life and I was immediately charmed. It broke my heart to see that the intervening years of his separation from Helene sucked the happiness right out of him.

I enjoyed watching him take control of his life and sexuality; it made his reunion with Helene all the sweeter and spicier as well. It would be remiss of me to write about Simply Shameless without mentioning its blazingly sensual love scenes. Pearce has a knack for raising the heat of the room in the space of just a few sentences, nevermind an entire book.

Though the third book in Ms. Readers who loved Simply Sexual and Simply Shameless will catch a brief glimpse or mention of the characters they adored from the previous House of Pleasure books. All in all I must say that, as one of the finest works of a supremely talented writer, Simply Shameless is not to be missed! Sinceramente vou ler os livros 6 e 7, onde os filhos de Helene aparecem: Helene segue a sua vida mas com o fado de ser mulher: I tremendously enjoyed reading Madame Helene's story, it is a beautiful tragedy, a story of fate, desperation, triumph, betrayal, and eroticism.

Those are just some of the few things one could find while reading this, it heightened my senses, really engaged me and made me wonder, and I admired Helene's character, she's one strong woman who did what was necessary to survive. Given what she went through at the tender age of 14, she's more practical than romantic. I can't help but feel for her, as I tremendously enjoyed reading Madame Helene's story, it is a beautiful tragedy, a story of fate, desperation, triumph, betrayal, and eroticism. I can't help but feel for her, as a woman in her time, she's empowered.

I don't want to spoil such a good tale of her history, but my favorite part is Helene and Philip's moments of passion when they first met. I believe in fate, and the two are obviously destined for each other. I loved how they lived for the moment and one couldn't help wonder what would have been, as Philip did.

The sexual chemistry between them was perfect and they understood each other in a lot of ways. The vivid scenes of their lovemaking was smoking hot and carnal. Helene's determination to start anew was what made the House of Pleasure where it is now, with a suggestion by Philip that was meant to be a joke.

On another note, Helene suffered through hell and back, but her weakness is her children. I hated how her son scorned her and believed the worst of her through a misguided notion, there's a little mystery here that wasn't really difficult to solve. Both Philip and Helene are strong-willed and I'm glad for Philip's understanding - that the woman he's in love with doesn't need to be coddled or offered protection, but to be appreciated just as she is. I loved the redeeming qualities of the characters - Helene didn't give up her friendship with the obsessed long-time friend George, Philip as the father of Helene's twins, and how her children appreciated her and understood her.

I also loved how it ended, or rather did not end, there are a lot of other possibilities. I can't wait to read the next! Jul 16, Disneygal rated it liked it.
