The content is the best of the Wanna Be Published blog, organized for writers to find what they need. Early on, DeMuth was frustrated when an author she was friends with was unwilling to share the knowledge she'd gained on her own journey. DeMuth was determined to share what she learned with others, helping writers along, instead of viewing them as competition.
DeMuth's ebook is rising quickly in the Amazon rankings. This is likely due to the short, easy-to-digest sections. It's a great book to read in the small gaps of time in a writer's day. The book is broken down into the promised 11 secrets: The first examines the excuses writers give for why they're not published yet.

I'm adding 11 Secrets to Getting Published to my annual read list. A fresh perusal on occasion will help me hone my writing, my knowledge, and my marketing.
She's done it again: Mary provides easy-to-understand and easy-to-follow steps for beginning writers.
I've had the privilege of being in writer conference workshops with Mary, and these written steps track her classroom information. Mary's passion for writing and encouragement find their way onto every page. I would like to see the book in hard copy so pertinent portions can be highlighted for future reference.
This was a very readable book about getting published that helps me realize the cost in time and effort to being a published author. For the novice writer hoping to one day be a published author, Mary deMuth navigates the publishing world with you, giving direction and insight from her pre-published writing days to having authored many books.
She breaks down intimidating aspects, like proposals, queries, acquiring an agent, attending writer's conferences, and establishing a web presence. A great book to refer back to when needed. One person found this helpful. Mary has done it again! I have loved every book of Mary DeMuth's that I've read so far. I bought this book in anticipation of an upcoming writer's conference. I was completely overwhelmed and needed to know how to prioritize my time, as well as adjust my expectations regarding my first attempt to meet with an agent.
Reading this book completely reset my compass, showed me where I wasn't ready, and the specific steps I needed to take to prepare. I finished the book with not just a game plan, but restored calm in my spirit.

Mary is continually reaching back to those of us coming along behind her. This book is a God-send! How to get you first piece of writing published? Great and inspirational book! I particularly recommend purchasing the query templates. DeMuth was not kidding about how quick the turndown will be without one, and why reinvent the wheel?
Worth every penny in my book,and that goes for the book AND the query templates. I appreciated Mary DeMuth's book because it invited me into her personal journey as an aspiring writer, as well as advised me on my own journey to write. Many of the tips she gives simple and easy to implement, but are not obvious to the typical writer. As someone who likes both fiction and non-fiction genre's she helped me understand challenges unique to both, and caused me to want to focus my work on non-fiction writing as I get started.
She emphasizes discipline and the need for experience throughout the book, and helped me gain an understanding of what working with an agent would be like.
