Dec 07, Du rated it really liked it Shelves: planning. This is a super fun book looking at a once popular dive hamburger chain built upon the simple ideas that White Castle also championed of quick service, limited menu and low overhead.
The book has all the elements that make an architectural book thrive, it is quick, pointed, and has narrative that not only tells the story but allows the reader to insert mental notes or observations without the author dictating too much to the senses. We are then in the eleventh century. When the tower was rebuilt in stone, towards the end of the eleventh century, a stronger wall was built, but it was still a mere defensive wall.
It was in the 14th century that the white tower received the protection it deserved: A true fortified enclosure, with defensive towers regularly distributed. It was the first campaign of fortification. The second came two centuries later, with the construction of a second enclosure much more massive.
