Welcome!!!

They help promote women's suffrage and Prohibition. It seems they have been ruffling a few feathers, as Abbie Ann has received several threats, which are being investigated by Sheriff Gabriel Devlin, Hannah Grace's husband. When Abbie Ann meets Noah Carson, a renowned shipbuilder, and his adorable six-year-old son, Toby, they find themselves caught up in an instant attraction. Abbie Ann tries her best to ignore her feelings, especially after she finds out Noah is a divorcee, nor does he seem to be a devoted Christian.

He is harboring hatred and unforgiveness towards his own father; not to mention his rage at the people involved in the events that caused his sudden and shocking divorce. Along with his divorce, he also lost his lifelong best friend, and his highly successful shipworks business. Needless to say, he arrives in town with a very sour outlook on life. She knows for a fact that there are a few living in her relatively small town, and would love nothing more than to be able to help them. As she works hard to put her dream in motion, she is forced to deal with even more threats, which in turn cause her father and Sheriff Gabe to recommend she drop the WTCU meetings until things calm down.

They want nothing more than to keep her safe. Though I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the Kane sisters, I have to tell you that Abbie Ann's story was my least favorite. It seemed to move along much slower than the first two and I had to make myself buckle down and keep reading a few times. I'm so glad I did though, because everything came together just fine in the end. I'm really sorry to say good-bye to all the wonderful folks I met along the way -- I'll really miss them! Noah Carson used to run a successful shipworks in Connecticut until his business partner cheated him out of his share of the business and stole his wife. Now divorced, Noah is hoping for a fresh start, so he moves with his six-year-old son to the west shore of Michigan to join a window business. What will have to happen to bring this couple together?

I enjoyed getting to know Abbie Ann and Noah as well as his young son and revisiting the other characters from other books. Set on the shores of Lake Michigan, I know the area where the fictional town of Sandy Shores well, and it is one of my favorite areas, even in the winter, the season the book begins with. The author did an excellent job letting me feel the blustery wind and the heavy lake effect snow that accumulates fast. A preview of another book by Ms. MacLaren is included at the end. Abbie Ann is a vivacious young lady intent on changing her world, one act of kindness at a time. A Sunday School teacher, the president of the local chapter of the temperance movement, and working in her father's store, in between all the visits she does with the elderly and people who need help, she sees these acts as part of her mission in life. Unfortunately the young man she is seeing, does not see them as Third in the Daughters of Jacob Kane series, we find the youngest daughter Abbie Ann.

Unfortunately the young man she is seeing, does not see them as such, in fact he is sure most of it would be below her station in life as his wife. A parting of the ways opens the door for a new young man in town to pursue courting Abbie Ann. A divorced young man, which is quite scandalous for the time of this book.

Noah Carson moved to Sandy Shores after divorcing his wife, catching her in the act of infidelity with his business partner. Loosing all his savings to her in the divorce proceedings, his main concern was keeping his young son with him. A new beginning, which he was sure did not include a new love in his life, until he crashed through the window of the store where Abbie Ann was working. Now he thinks of nothing but her. I enjoy Sharlene MacLaren's writing, she brings out so much in her stories that you just don't want to put down the book! This book did not disappoint.

It is disappointing that this was the last of the series, you felt like it should go on. I loved the book, and thank Cathy at Whitaker House for providing the book for my review. Definitely a 4 star book!! Oct 15, Trinity Rose rated it really liked it. This is the third and last book of the series The Daughters of Jacob Kane. Abbie Ann is quite a lovely, spirited young lady who knows what she wants and how to get it. This book has many surprising twist and turns.

I was really intrigued by it and like the way when I thought it would make a good ending another thing happened to cause havoc and shook things up. One thing happened in this book that I was hoping would happen to the father. He is such a strong, capable man, but still has a very soft side. I like how the whole family got together at Christmas and how everyone got along and they each show such love to the others. Noah and Abbie Ann met in quite a strange way and I like that, I sometimes get tired of the usual boy meets girl scenes. Thank you to Whitaker House for providing this book for review.

I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. Apr 21, Holly 2 Kids and Tired rated it really liked it. Third in the Daughter's of Jacob Kane series, I think this was my favorite. Abbie was the somewhat annoying younger sister in each of the first two books. Here, she comes into her own and readers will find a delightful young heroine. As Abbie falls for Noah, she must also work through her issues of his divorce and her fear that he doesn't completely walk with God.

Noah must heal from the struggles of his past and as he does, he learns about forgiveness. I found the subjects of boat building and w Third in the Daughter's of Jacob Kane series, I think this was my favorite. I found the subjects of boat building and women's suffrage fascinating. I'm familiar with the Christian Temperance Union and its work to help women, and Sharlene McLaren's approach to the subject was terrific.

With engaging, charming characters and a bit of drama and mystery like we find in the previous two books, this is a fitting end to the trilogy. Although, I'd love to see a fourth book about Jacob and Rita Jan 06, Carman rated it it was amazing. I have read all of her books except one, and I have never failed to be thrilled by them! You can see her love of children in each of her books, and this was no exception.

Abbie Ann's Story - January 22, 2013

Abbie is a character that, despite her flaws, you love. Her drive to defend others and stand up for what she believed in was really inspiring. I loved her idea for the Hope House! Noah had been hurt by so many people and was struggling just to get by, day-by-day. Jan 13, Donna added it. When the recently divorced Noah Carson comes to town with son Toby in tow to pursue a shipbuilding business, Abbie Ann tries to keep her distance-espe Great book. She is the president of the women's group and very outspoken about women's rights and prohibition. She has always believed that she doesn't really need a man, he would be more of just more fluff in her pillow her words. Of course that was before she laid eyes on Noah. I enjoyed this last book of the series, although it was a little draw out and it could have been shorter. Apr 29, Brooke Barenfanger rated it it was amazing Shelves: It was longer than the first two so I thoght that it would be too long, and drag on.

But, surprisingly, it didn't. The author needed the extra pages to complete a sweet, lovely tale about a hurtiing young man and an enchanting woman named Abbie Ann, the youngest of the Kane sisters. As always, MacLaren did a wonderful job in creating the characters. If you're looking for a book to get lost in, it would be Abbie Ann. Feb 24, Zette rated it it was amazing. I'm so sad that this is the last book in the Daughters of Jacob Kane series!

I enjoyed all three of the books and will read them all again in the future. My favorite part of the story was seeing Noah's feelings for both his father and his wife change as God brought healing and forgiveness into his heart. The romance between Noah and Abbie had the right amount of spark and conflict to keep my interest and it was fun to see Jacob surprise his daughters with a romance of his own!

Abbie Ann (Daughters of Jacob Kane, book 3) by Sharlene MacLaren

Another wonderful read by Sharlene MacClaren. I loved this series. Sharlene's books are a cut above. The story lines are creative, original and very inspiring. Everything about this book was believable - nothing felt contrived. Now I've read all her books and will have to patiently wait for another. It won't be easy! Slow and too many cliche sayings in this book for my liking. The characters were characters, they didn't feel real or alive. I wasn't drawn in. On to the next book.
