Kindle Edition Verified Purchase. Definitely worth the purchase. I am not finished with the book yet, but so far it has been very enjoyable. Brings a wide range of emotions. There is sorrow in the tragedy that has happened to the main character, but joy in his trying to overcome his sorrow.

There are also a few sarcastic comical comments that anyone with difficult family members would understand and appreciate. When digging through papers after a death in my family I found this book - written in German. Out of curiosity I research the book and learned the characters in the book are fashioned after real people from the author's home village, which is where some of my family came from.
I got it because of that. Have not recognized my family being in the book, but am very glad I got the English version anyway.
