I try my best to keep those on a leash I tell myself a promise I will lock myself up, I will end myself Before I let those demons Command my hands to hurt another. I am aware of the damage I can cause And that which has been caused to me Making me weaker to myself For their sirens call of sickness Beckons with respect for my fight Whispering it will be alright They will take care of me, just let go.

finding myself

It is agony to be alone, for me, The awful reality sinks in And what once was seems to merge With the slow happiness I work so hard to achieve each day. A vision is forced to my mind That these sunrises Are no longer beautiful, but a lie That no hope can be found Among any smiling face Or around any countless corner.

Now I have no more burning liquid Only everything coming at me full speed No drugged shield to stand guard My only guardian caused its own demise But I consider it now gone To be a better option Than giving into the hell I must keep from the worlds eyes For their sake and my own. I never knew myself before I lost you. I thought I did. I thought I was just this shy girl who liked to keep to herself, just a girl who lived to see you smile. I became this version of myself made up of you. Of your laugh and your smile. I lived and breathed and thought of only you. And so all the things I did in my life that I thought made me, me?

It was always tainted by you. Then I lost you. And I hurt like crazy. How can I ever be the same?

Finding Myself - Poem by Rebeckah Schroeder

It felt like a limb had been torn off my body. Turns out losing you was the best thing to ever happen to me. I am no longer the girl who does everything to please everyone, just so people will stick around. I was never me when I was with you.
