And let me tell you if you adore conflicts just as I do, this story is packed with conflict from beginning to end. And the ending is Magnifique and mind blowing!! A beautiful story about true love that conquers all even a feuding family, where Luke and Melody may be the key to bringing peace to the families. A story full of passion, zest, and a sweet love story to bring tears to your eyes!! Jun 02, Katrina Epperson rated it it was amazing.

A wonderful, comedic romance with small town intrigue. I would say it's similar to the Hatfield and McCoy feud, but this one started over love not land. The history is in John Fant, the wealthiest man in town, was betrothed to Elizabeth Nielson, but left her at the altar to marry the woman he loved, Mille Greenwood, which sparked the family feud.

When Melody Spencer, of the Greenwoo A wonderful, comedic romance with small town intrigue. Luke Nielson was only 17 at the time and attracted to Melody. They would sneak off to ride horses on the back trails so no one would see them and not cause any family upset.

Loving A Cowboy (Hearts of Wyoming Book 1) by Anne Carrole

One night, 4th of July, they met at the picnic tables beside the lake and she got her first kiss from Luke, but that was all because her cousins happened upon them and beat Luke so bad he was put in the hospital. Melody decided then and there she was getting out of Cupid as to never have to deal with all this hatred again. She earned a scholarship to NYU and after graduation hopped on a plane for the Big Apple, New York where she has been living and working for 8 years. Luke Nielson still lives in Cupid where he owns and runs the Rocking N ranch, but is also at present the Mayor of Cupid.

Luke has never married, but thoughts of settling down are floating through his mind. He has his hands full right now with the extreme drought conditions the area has been experiencing and as a result the falling economy in Cupid. Luke got an idea to approach Melody Spencer about helping out by coming up with some ideas to boost the tourism thereby increasing the economy. What he didn't expect was for buried feeling and desires to emerge upon seeing her.

He needed to put that aside so he could convince her to help him and her home town. The characters are lovable and you can understand how trapped they feel by the feud. This is a delicious tale as characters find things more complicated than they ever imagined. This is the last book in the Cupid Texas series, but it is a stand alone book. The storyline will quickly draw the reader into the story and keep them turning the pages. I really enjoyed everything about this story. Lori Wilde's ability to weave words together is amazing.

I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a good romance interlaced with a little humor and small town intrigue. Feb 25, Clare O'Beara rated it really liked it Shelves: Madison Avenue advertising agencies seem to have firing policies that would be illegal in Europe. This isn't the first book where an employee is shown the door because she's more ethical than the client. Melody Spencer had not expected this news and seeks a quiet spot to recover. She wonders why nothing she does can ever be good enough. This small-town Texas girl has been in NYC for twelve years. Her fashion photographer boyfriend, of recent standing, has an overseas shoot coming up and decides Madison Avenue advertising agencies seem to have firing policies that would be illegal in Europe.

Her fashion photographer boyfriend, of recent standing, has an overseas shoot coming up and decides to dump her - and gets the doorman to break the news. She's got nowhere to go, having recently moved in to his apartment. Luke Nielson finds her distressed. He has just arrived in the city, and they grew up on opposite sides of a feud line. Luke and Melody liked each other as youngsters but their families kept them apart.

Since Melody's life couldn't get any worse, maybe eating dinner with a Nielson could even be an improvement - though she won't let her autocratic mother know. As elected mayor of Cupid, Luke wants to help the town through the difficulties caused by ongoing drought. Cupid had a tourist income but the lake has dried up; ranching and farming depended on the water, and people are finding loans hard to pay. He's come to ask Melody for a promotional campaign to help bring back visitors.

After dinner he offers Melody the hospitality of his hotel room and she suggests a sponsored chili and cornbread festival. Something else might have started too - like a magnetic attraction! The contrast in settings during this book is rich, our couple talking about burnt-brown land while traffic roars on in a city street, Melody finding Texas words coming to mind that would be derided in an office. Melody has no intention of dragging home, tail between her legs Lori Wilde's writing in this tale is excellently visual, showing us a white Corvette driving on the dusty road, prickly pears withering, lean-hipped aimless cattle.

We find grit in the air and unforgiving sun, an ATV race in the Chihuahua desert. There are also distinct shades of 'Letters to Juliet' as the town capitalises on the name Cupid. This makes a hot, concealed adult romance between two members of bitterly antagonistic families all the more memorable. Find out and enjoy this skilfully layered read.

Melody a big ad campaign job in NY City has just been fired and her world known famous photographer boyfriend has dumped her. On the way leaving the complex she runs into Luke from her hometown of Cupid, TX. What the heck is he doing in NYC? They do share a meal and so much more later when he tells her of what's going on with the town and asks her for help. She confides in him what the latest in her life. Hometown life and there are many secrets.

The family feud that has lasted hundreds of years is in force still. You do not cross into enemy territory but stay true to your family. She devises many projects that might help the town recover from it's financial loss due to lack of rain. Loved hearing of the different festivals they sound like SO much fun. Luke, the mayor uncovers a secret that holds all the plans together and he confronts her about it. Nothing seems to be going right but their steamy sex scenes which nobody can ever find out about. You wonder if the feud will ever end Also loved the travel, parts I may never see for myself in my lifetime and being able to catch up with the others in the community.

I received this book from the author in exchange for my honest review. Very committed and full of drive Melody obtained her goal.

Yet Luke came to NY for Melody's help. Her hometown is drying up, literally. Luke and the town he loves needs Melody Spencer's help. Cupid is home to the legendary caverns that house a 7' stalagmite that resembles the Roman God of love flexing an arrow. The local legend is full of possibilities and promise, just write a letter to Cupid and he ll grant your love wishes! Melody agrees to come home and work with Luke to save their beloved home town.

But can Luke let her go when she's ready to leave? A letter to Cupid written by "Modern Day Juliet" changes everything. Integrity and truth are worth it! Unfortunately Melody and Luke have a past together, their first kiss was on the 4th of July when they were teenagers and because of a feud reminiscent of the Hatfields and McCoys, Luke was left beaten and they were torn apart. Now she's back in Cupid to try to help save her hometown.

Will Melody and Luke ever get back together? You'll have to read the book to find out, but I do want to say that this book was as great as the first books of the series! I received a copy of this book from the author in return for my honest review. May 31, Brenda rated it it was amazing. This a bittersweet story of the Cupid Texas series. This was my favorite of all the books and I loved them all. Luke and Melody are caught up in their attraction that had a 15 year history. Melody is trying to help Luke revive there hometown when a long drought has taken a serious toll on the town.

Their attraction is hampered by the family fued that exist between there two familes. This is a book that when you start it you will not put it down until you've finished it. I totally recomment this This a bittersweet story of the Cupid Texas series. I totally recomment this series and this book, they are definite keepers. Lori Wilde has done it again. I recieved this book in exchange for an honest review. Jun 02, Abby rated it it was amazing.

Think of them like a modern-story of Romeo and Juliet. In their hometown of Cupid, Texas there is a family feud between their familes — the Fants and the Nielsons. Melody Spencer moved away from Cupid, Texas and went on to work for a successful advertisement company, Tribalgate, in New York. What makes it worse is her boyfriend, Jean-Claude, dumps her and removes all her belongings from his place. In comes Luke Nielson. Luke sees Melody coincidentally the same day this all happens, and he takes her out and provides her with a place to stay for the night.

Luke is now the mayor of Cupid, Texas. He came to find Melody hoping with her credentials and connections, she could somehow bring people and money back to Cupid. The drought is scaring off movie companies, tourism, etc. Everyone in town is losing business and struggling to make ends meet. At first, she tries and calls in a favor to get Quaker out to Cupid and have judges from the Food Network judge a Quaker-cornbread event. But once her contact finds out that Melody was fired from Tribalgate and about the drought, they rescind their offer leaving Melody and the Cupid people scrambling to figure out what to do.

So how will the town of Cupid, Texas bring back people and money into town? Well, Melody suggests bringing the Fants and Nielsons feud back into the spotlight. Luke, however, quickly shoots this down. He wants peace between both families. But what the town is well-known for… their Dear Cupid love letters… there are a series of letters from a young teenage girl who loves a boy from a family her own family despises.

What is she supposed to do? The Dear Cupid letters sets off a storm in social media. People call in to Cupid giving their opinion, and they want to visit the town. News agencies want to interview this young teenage girl. And despite Luke constantly telling Melody to stop printing these stories, she still does. There might be a lot of drama and desperation in the town of Cupid, Texas, but through it all, the readers get to enjoy the love story between Luke and Melody.

They have always loved each other even as teenagers, but this feud and an event that happened in their past broke them apart. But now that circumstances bring them back together, Luke and Melody find a way to see each other in secret. Now, the questions that remain are… will their relationship come out in the open, and will both families look past their feud and get along?

Some are gruff ranch hands working their way up the ladder, while others are sensitive souls who love to croon a country tune while strumming on a guitar. They always saved the day and were especially kind to the ladies.

I love to write about cowboys, the wild West and everything in between. Growing up in the Western states writing about cowboys, and the girls who love them, comes natural to me. I will never give a book 4 or 5 stars if I didn't connect to the characters and care for them. And if you don't develop them, I can't connect to them and the story just won't be as good. I never really fell in love, or even like, with these characters.

They were just sort of Roan and Patrick have a 20 year gap. This might not bother me so much if Patrick hadn't known Roan since he was 10 and watched him grow up. But he did, and I found it a little creepy. I kept imagining if this were a straight romance, with a 25 year old woman and 45 year old man whom she had known since childhood And Roan's father Finn, Patrick's best friend, knows all about it and is totally supportive. It just seemed weird to me. Again, if your 25 year old daughter told you she was in love with your 45 year old best friend and wanted to begin a sexual relationship with him Maybe in some circumstances this could have worked, but it just didn't work for me in this story.

Great idea, poor execution. Apr 17, Elisa Rolle added it. Even if the title is the same of the first story, the book is really two complete stories of about the same lenght. In the first, To Love a Cowboy, Patrick is a 45 years old foreman of a wealthy horse ranch. To Love a Texas Cowboy

But soon after Patrick had chicken out on the prospective to be in love with a so much younger man and Roan went to college and never back home for seven years. Now he is again at home and he has every intention to bring down the walls Patrick has built around him. I like the story, even if I find strange to read of a total acceptance of manlove in a small town. No one says nothing, nor Roan's father and maybe this is due to his long date friendship with Patrick , or the people on the ranch, or in the village. And around the ranch there is not one but even two gay bars, or at least a place where gay couples can hang out without problems Apart this strange feeling strange but not bad Patrick is a a one piece man, who believe in the forever love and family.

Maybe a bit stubborn in refusing a good thing when it's right in front of him, but ready to admit his mistakes. Roan is the classical eager puppy lover: And to prove a point. When refused at eighteen years old he has not adopted the mourning lover beahviour, and instead he has made as much experiences as he could, and now he is ready, and willing, to admit that his first love was the real one.

If said love is willing to say the same. The second story, Justice, has an historical setting in a late nineteen century Far West small town, the Justice of the title. But it is also a alternative world setting. In fact, in the small town, all the main characters are gays: Three gay brothers arrive in this fantasy land town in search of vengeance upon an old enemy, and instead they find love. The younger, Nate, is involved in a threesome with Luke and Jamison saloon and brothel owners and the middle, Noah, with Simon hotel owner ; instead Adam, the older, is a bit reluctant to surrender to the courtship of the librarian, Dale.

Most of the romance is spent telling us of the newborn couples and the revenge plan is put aside until almost the end. Probably the characters who win the main scene are Noah and Simon. Adam and Nate play the role of supporting characters. Again the total acceptance is a little disconcerting, but in this case is more "normal", given also the introduction of the author where she tells us as she dreamed on the old western movies imagining to remove the weak heroines. I don't have much to say about it besides that I didn't really like it. The boy is pretty promiscuous and he has fun making the foreman jealous by flaunting his conquests in his face.

Turn off for me. The second part of the book is the western story called "Justice" about three gay brothers coming to a town in search of vengeance for their parents' murder. The town is everything they didn't expect, full of gay men and very accepting of them. Instead of the revenge they sought, they instead each find a place they could easily call home in this small town. That is, until one of them is found bleeding and shot. Will Justice be served and will they finally be able to move on? The youngest brother was the less interesting, mostly because he hooks up with the tavern owner and his brothel owner boyfriend Personally don't like threesome and the couple already makes it clear that they're just playing with the brother and they only love each other.

Much drama with the brothel owner too. But I pity the guy that's the apparent third wheel.

The middle brother was okay. Nothing much to say besides that since it's a short story everything happens very fast. While he saw his younger brothers settling down and getting happy he refused to do the same until his parents could rest in peace. The first story was okay. Not great by any means, but okay. I like the older man thing but this one was a little creepy. Patrick knowing Roan from the time he was 10 kind of gave it the creep factor, though nothing happened between them until Roan was The second story Justice was almost funny and I'm not sure it was meant to be.
