Okay, not so sure about how you review a 20 page prequel to a series of books, but here goes. First off, in order to read a horror, occult story like this, you sort of have to have a strong stomach, or believe in the occult or that things occult could happen.

And this does not say that there was anything to upset any stomach's of readers in these 20 pages. It is just some do not believe in the occult. While I personally do not practice any type of occult ritual, I know some do. So, do I believe in it??? I do believe these practices exist.

I also believe that any time you open up a door to evil, you can rarely be sure of what will happen. This is a great story, although a very short read. It is well written, well thought out, and well put together. The storyline is very believable. And yes, the horror is also believable. But, the couple had no knowledge of the dark forces and the brutal acts of violence that had finally driven him to the edge of sanity.

They moved into his former residence with the thoughts of living a quiet life in the suburbs. Sadly, things did not go quite as planned. Jane began to experience some strange and deeply unsettling things. Soon it became clear that she and her husband had unknowingly walked into what would become a desperate struggle for their lives and their very souls. The characters in this story are believable.

I have to say I especially like Steve. What he attempted to do, he tried because he was trying to save Jane. In so doing, he lost his own life. That, my dear friends, is love. I do recommend this book. There is no blood and gore. There is also no sex scenes, so rest easy.

If you like horror and occult, I think you will like this story. One person found this helpful. The first thing to know is what you're getting. It's a short story, not a long novel.

It reads like a pilot episode for television series. I hope that the author makes it a serial.

Unexpected darkness

I could read a serial with more-or-less self-contained chapters. I don't normally read fiction which is funny, because I write fiction all the time as "warm up writing" , but I know that I should.

Bonds of the Skies Gameplay Part 13: Nero, the Darkness Grimoa

Evil Under Our Feet was recommended to me by a friend. Because I don't normally read fiction I read a LOT of non-fiction , starting with something short was a good idea. McClellan does a good job wrapping up this particular story. It leaves it dangling open just enough to make me wonder what happens next which is what makes me think that this might be the start of a serial.

The cloak shrouded his face and hair but woven at the edge of his cloak was a black omega sign. The guards were edging closer but did not strike. Lenore felt panic as she was the first who would meet this man being at the front of the thrones.

The man approached her without hesitation. The king wished to yell at Lenore to get back but he knew it would stir trouble and his daughter could defend herself enough to get away. Red flooded her vision as the man now stood in front of her.

The mans hand lifted to his cloak she could see he wore a gauntlet of that same strange armor that strapped onto his fingers and held sharp dragon-like claws. Lenore could feel the darkness radiating off him and thought she might faint. The man pulled back his hood and vermillion locks were revealed another gasp rang out, red hair a mark of a demon.

The demon had a handsome face with pale skin and eyes of blood. If she wasn't so frightened by his presence she would have swooned at his beauty. The demon then did the unexpected, he kneeled before the princess and bowed crossing his arm over his chest. Lenore was unsure of how to greet him so she stood stiffly watching him. The demon turned his head up to her. I know my presence must be startling but I mean no harm.
