I haven't found anything close to what Carolyn is using. I am considering designing something myself and having it printed at Spoonflower. The other problem is that no thread count is given for the roof fabric, Permin. It comes in several counts and the best I could work out by counting her stitches in the photo.

It appears to be 30 blocks of 6 stitches each. The roof measures a little shy of 6 inches long so I am guess that I need 30 count linen. I am horrible at math so do your own. The instructions seem very clear but I haven't started the project yet, and the book comes with a printed pattern you can pull out which makes it easier to trace. I might just scan and then trace onto my fabric.

The pull out it printed on both sides so you can't cut it. The instructions are wonderful and the basic design can be adapted to 18 count Aida cloth and cross stitch. I made mine in red with white trim to resemble a Swedish cottage and adapted the flowers to Swedish wildflowers. I have been wanting this book for a long time and finally found a great copy at agreat price thanks to Amazon, my go to place for out of print books.

I already make handmade books good skills for the construction and embroider so I think anyone with intermediate skills can accomplish it. The instructions appear clear enough someone with basic embroidery skills could make it, however I have not tackled it yet because I wait until the long dreary days of winter to start and work on projects that will take some time to finish.
