Bethany is one of the "quiet resorts" Families with young kids and teens love it, older people who want quiet love it, and young couples who just want to be alone and relax love it No, it's not like Ocean City. If you want the honky tonk atmosphere mixed with freak show and shoulder to shoulder people, go to OC. Just got back from the shore Bethany is what it is - a lovely small town.
Much too crowded in recent years, so no hard feelings, but if you don't like it here that clears up some beach space for the rest of us who do! In addition to quarters you can buy a day long permit at the kiosk near the boardwalk--you can't park on Garfield--the main street with that.
All the side streets have the central boxes where you insert quarters or a credit card select how long you will be there and print out a receipt you put on your windshield. Easy to do--and your other option is to pay the ticket! This is a quiet, CLEAN, family oriented beach that bans smoking on beach and boardwalk--how anyone can trash it is beyond me. Go to Ocean City which is not as clean and trust me they ticket also if you park illegally!
