I'm a relatively new adult banjo student and learned about Bob Carlin's work at a banjo camp. Then found that two of his classic early recordings were available.

He also lectured and offered workshops, spending much of the early '90s researching a comprehensive history of the banjo's place in American music. About Bob Carlin

I was expecting a collection of old time fiddle tunes but I have never heard of most of the song in this book. Several of the songs seem to have been written fairly recent to the publishing of the book. I considered returning it but after listening to the few songs I could find on YouTube, I decided to keep it. However, I would not recommend it to anyone looking for old time fiddle tunes for banjo.
