- Why Women’s Ministry?
They engage issues of hierarchy in the church when they discuss the priesthood of all believers and the mission of the church. Finally, they write about the ordination of women as it relates to the pastoral office in the church. Although the authors are decidedly egalitarian, they take time to explain the complementarian view of women in the church and how it differs from the egalitarian view.
I appreciated the explanations of the differences in the two views and the reasons behind them.
Why Women’s Ministry?
They carefully explain the complexities of exegesis of the scripture passages. They use specific examples from history and denominations that clearly illustrate their points.

The clear explanations of differing positions, careful exegesis of scripture and specific examples, make this book a helpful tool for understanding the debate over women in ordained ministry. The book is about pages, contains many citations and endnotes as well as an extensive bibliography.
Book Review – Women in the Church: A Biblical Theology of Women in Ministry
It is organized in an easy to read and reference format with subject headings in bold and sub-headings italicized. The endnotes, bibliography and subject index make the book a good tool for further study and easy reference. The one disappointment I have with the book is the statistical information is dated, since it was published in and some of the statistics date back to Otherwise, I highly recommend this book as a resource for education toward understanding of Biblical, historical and theological affirmation of women in ordained ministry in the church. His dad was a Baptist pastor for 30 years before he passed away in After high school Stan began his undergraduate studies in with the idea that he would become a nuclear physicist. Div from Denver Seminary in , the same year in which he was ordained into the gospel ministry. During the years of study in Colorado he served as a youth pastor and an assistant pastor. Their son, Joel was born in Munich in Stan has authored or co-authored twenty-five books, served as editor or co-editor for two Festschriften, contributed articles to more than two dozen other volumes, and has seen to print more than a hundred essays and an additional eighty book reviews.
He had plans to write many more books. Two more of his books will appear in print within the next year. In addition to writing and lecturing all around the world, Stan loved preaching. He served as interim pastor of several congregations and as guest preacher in many churches.
He loved the Church, both locally and worldwide.
Stan wholeheartedly supported and encouraged his wife Edna in her pastoral ministry, her studies and in the enlargement of her ministry gifts. At First Baptist Church, he played the guitar and trumpet in the worship team and sang in the choir. He was proud of his children and their spouses, Joel and Jennifer and Corina and Chris, and delighted in his new granddaughter, Anika.

Stan was a friend and mentor to many, always encouraging people to strive to new heights. As a theologian for the Church Stan wrote from the deep, interior vision of the sure hope that we would enter into the community of God in the renewed creation.
He articulated the reality of this new community as the compass for Christian theology: They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God.
