I really enjoyed reading the stories of people that are not so different than me and the people that I meet each day. The only difference is that the people in these success stories capitalized on their strengths and looked for ways to help others achieve success in life and in business. The subtitle of this book refers to "techniques for achieving success" but in my opinion, everything depends on having a mindset for success.
This is what Henry Ford meant when observing "Whether you think you can or think you can't, you're right.

Ivan Misner and Don Morgan have collaborated on several volumes including this one , selecting and then assembling material from a remarkably diverse range of sources, including themselves. There are several different ways to read this book, including cover to cover. A word of caution: Peter Schutz, former head of Porsche, who shares his thoughts about "a culture of success. Excellence will build the manager who strives for it. First, a great deal has been said and written about the importance of "balance. For whatever reasons, many men and women have found that very difficult to fulfill all of their obligations in both areas.
I have become convinced that a person cannot balance everything but it is possible to balance what is most important, and be willing to accept compromises, adjustments, trade-offs, etc. It remains for each of us to decide what is most important, both in business and in life, and then maintain a proper balance of these priorities. Directly or at least indirectly, all of those who contributed material to this volume can help readers to develop the right mindset so that they can make that determination, and then maintain that balance.
Those who share my high regard for this book are urged to check out other works authored or co-authored by Misner and Morgan well as two books by Tom Butler-Bowdon: Lovely book which gives anecdotes of those who have risen above adversity and mastered success. Read it along with Optimal Thinking: How to Be Your Best Self to learn how to master emotions, bring out the best in others and make the most of every situation and The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People to learn how to move from dependence to independence, from personal victories to public victories.

The three books together are all you will ever need to be successful and inspire optimal success in others. If you are looking for practical, how-to this is definitely not the book. But this is the book if you are looking for sparks of inspiration, a wide collection of what success can mean, and interesting tidbits across careers, walks of life, and demographics. A terrific mix of accomplished personalities are represented here, sharing their wisdom and experience in a humorous, down-to-earth fashion. Dvorak has captured something rare that differentiates his and his co-author's messages from those found in standard "success book" fare - accessibility, identification and true encouragement. One person found this helpful. This book is great! It's also a real value: I got 16 Authors for the price of one. I highly recommend this book to college students or business people. It's great to have insights from so many leaders bound into one book!

A book that helps I thoroughly enjoyed reading Masters of Success. It provides real life experiences and how the authors were able to apply those experiences to better their lives. I thought Doug Dvorak's story was truly uplifting, a real inspiration. He is so funny and the ways he uses humor to better himself and to help other separates him from the talking heads. I hope to see more from him. You usually can never go wrong with Blanchard, but it's refresshing to get him to get a professional opnion on REAL team buildng and the way it gets results.
