Please try again later. My cats 7 of them love this food so I was glad to see Amazon is carrying it again. The local stores do not carry a 15 lb bag, only the 3. This food is sealed very well, and is fresh. I have tried expensive brands and really cheapo brands of cat food, and so far 9 lives agrees very well with my cats. This food does not "rifle" through them or cause overly offensive litter pan odors like cheapo cat food and their digestive and urinary tracts are all healthy.
My cats ages range from 3 years to 18 years old, and believe me, this 9 Lives brand and flavor are something they all like. The price is a really good deal especially for prime as the shipping is free. I also buy the Iams in the orange bag for my cats for a variety and putting some of that in a bowl dry as well as wetted down with water in another bowl is something they really love. Again, no intestinal issues or litter pan issues as they have been eating this combination for several years now.
If you do try this, or switch your cat s over, be patient as it may take a week or so for your cats digestive system to adjust. In the end, I think you will be very pleased with the quality and price. Also, we used to take in foster cats, and fed them this 9 Lives brand, and they all did very well. Knocking off a star because while one of our cats still has no problems with it and both of our cats are less pukey, we noticed that pukey cat started biting himself a lot.
We checked him for fleas; nada. No mange, no dandruff, and we thought maybe he had itchy mats he's a longhair and mats very easily so we gave him a good few extra groomings and trimmings to make sure his coat was clear. He still kept biting, and got to the point where he was sometimes drawing blood, and then one night pretty much mutilated his own stomach gnawing at himself; we found him the next morning with most of the fur gone from his belly, and covered in scabs and rash-like irritations.
We took him to the vet immediately, and it turns out he's allergic to either the food coloring or the grain in this cat food. We've fed him cat food with grains corn gluten and oat meal in it before, so it's likely the dye in this one. Either way, that was an unpleasant way to find out that he's allergic.
We're switching him to a vet-recommended food without allergens and hoping he gets better soon. I'm not going to rate this one star because the food's fine and cost-effective for cats who aren't allergic.
7 Steps To 9 Lives
The other cat is just fine, wolfs it down with no side effects. But be aware of allergen ingredients and watch your pets, especially if you have older ones who might develop sensitivity later on--our pukey cat is almost ten years old. This is true of pretty much any cat food with grains or food coloring, which is why I can't really fault this one for being the same as any other on the market. But it is unsafe for cats with food allergies, so bringing my rating down to three stars and switching to a different brand. This one might make our cats puke less, but I'd rather clean up puke a few extra times a week than feed my cat something that causes him to self-mutilate.
It's not the absolute best cat food out there, but it's better than a lot of the generics that cost less, and overall for the price you're getting a brand-name cat food that does what it's supposed to do. It feeds your cats. That's pretty much all you expect. I'm not exactly going to taste it myself to testify to the flavor and quality, but our cats have been eating it for nearly six months now and they've been content with it.
One shake of the bag and they're lined up at the bowls, and they nearly take my hand off before I can even finish pouring it in. More than once I've suddenly had a shower of food pellets bouncing off the top of one of their heads while they thrust their face in the bowl. My main reason for using this particular product over the dozens of similar products? Our cats puke less of it up. We have two cats, and they're pukers one more than the other, but the one who pukes less seems more prone to what I'd swear are deliberate spite pukes There's nothing wrong with them; they've been checked out by the vet, they've tried all kinds of special foods to improve digestive health and reduce vomiting, and guess what?
It's what they do. We like to think it's their way of saying "Hey, we didn't tell you you were allowed to have a clean house. Oh, those were your new shoes?
Well maybe next time you'll pet me longer. And, well, the puke frequency has gone down since we switched to this one. It could be coincidence, utter causation without correlation.

For all I know it's the season or Tibetan butterflies or part of the global lolcat plot to fool humans into complacency. But it makes me happy to think that feeding them this brand is why I'm spending less time on my knees mopping up ucky things, so hey, whatever works.

As the ingredients contained in this food are not the optimal food sources essential to a cat's well being, I don't actually feed my cats this dry food. Corn is the first ingredient, which is a food my cats really don't crave.

There is a meat source as the second ingredient, but unfortunately, it is a by-product. Although there are a couple of other meat sources listed in the ingredients, the addition of artificial preservatives and coloring make this cat food a less than desirable food staple for any cat. However, the Amazon price is good and with Amazon prime 2-day free shipping directly to work, this is a very convenient food for the shop cats I feed. While the ingredients aren't the best, feeding it along with canned food, it is a balanced diet and seems to keep the shop cats healthy.
One person found this helpful. I was worried by the large size of the bag because my cat can be very fastidious about repeatedly eating the same food. But she's surprised me by eating it eager, and she's still eating it.

She's an adult normal-weight cat with no eating restrictions. She enjoys this food and is a very lively active year-old. When we finally finish this bag, I plan to buy this again because she seems to really enjoy the taste, and it seems good for her. One person found this helpful 2 people found this helpful. They still hang around our property so of course we feed them. They really like 9 lives and I believe it is good for them.
Being old and my husband handicapped, it is so easy for us to have it delivered right to our door step instead of wrestling with the bags at the store and unloading when we get home. I am very satisfied with the product and Amazon. The subscribe and save option is even better as I don't have to remember to order it. I gave it five stars because I always start off rating a product highly and then take away whenever something doesn't work as it should or a promise by the company isn't kept, things like that.
