All the staff are very helpful and pleasant and make you feel very welcome. The views are amazing aspecially if you manage to drive through to Hebden Bridge you feel like you are on top of world. Would most deffinately recommend a stay here if you are in desperate need to relax!! The suite is absolutely stunning, with two main rooms and a conservatory. The bed is massive and very comfortable, and the ceiling canopy is a nice touch too.
At the foot of the bed is a decent sized seating area, with a double seater sofa, dressing table and coffee table. For me this made the room too hot, especially during the night, but maybe the fire is a seasonal thing. The bathroom is huge, with a twin seater whirlpool bath, a rainforest shower with body jets, and twin sinks set into a marble vanity unit. Theres also a large mirror screen which is slightly distorted, and therefore very unflattering! The bathroom is so spacious, it truly is the best hotel bathroom I have ever seen. The shower was a bit of a disappointment, as it was impossible to have both the body jets and the shower head on, and neither were really that powerful.
It definitely looks the part, but in reality it is a little disappointing. Attached to the bathroom is a little under stairs space with a clothes rail and a mini fridge with a nespresso machine. Through the bathroom is the suites own private conservatory, housing a massive hot tub probably big enough for 6 and a handy towel rack complete with tea lights and rubber ducks. The conservatory looks out onto the suites own private garden, beautifully maintained with 2 sun loungers available for enjoying the sun.
I would suggest booking at least two nights like we did to truly make the most of all this suite has to offer. We rang reception who were very apologetic and told us usually the gardeners check the hotel register so as to make sure they tend to the garden when no one is in the room, however this system obviously failed on this occasion. By way of apology though they did give us a free bottle of wine which was gratefully appreciated. We thought about not including this in the review as it must have been an isolated occurrence, but I wanted to mention how well the staff dealt with it.
All in all we had the most relaxing wonderful stay this second time at Ashmount.

The location of hotel was lovely as were the grounds. Slightly disappointed in the room. Was extremely small and cramped and taken up mainly with the four poster bed. We stayed in the sanctuary room.. The hot tub itself was lovely but not completely private. Was overlooked by another room. It was quite an old fashioned room.

We did receive complimentary sherry which we don't drink, but a nice touch I suppose. We were provided with bath robes for hot tub and candles were left out for us.
I just think the room needs updating a bit, especially for the price we paid. Breakfast was nice and average though. I can imagine the gardens are lovely in summer and probably a nice place for weddings.

We stayed at Ashmount Country House for our wedding anniversary and it was very romantic. I booked The Retreat at No. Upon arrival I have to admit the actual house wasn't as big as I expected and had a very small car park so get there early for a good parking space.

We were taken to our room by a lovely young lady, our room was actually the bottom half of a converted cottage over the road from the main house. The bedroom has a chair, a sofa and a huge comfy bed, there are TV's in the bedroom and the bathroom. We enjoyed chilling in the whirlpool bath while watching TV! We spent most of our time away in our 'room' because it's just so relaxing.
Now don't get me wrong there are little niggles that I'm sure certain people would pick fault with, because in places it is a little tired BUT it didn't bother us, as it was just so lovely and to us, a luxurious treat. Breakfast was run by two very young waitresses that had a lot of people to serve so service was slow but once we ordered and our full Yorkshire breakfast arrived we both really enjoyed it.
