It is important that we not separate the word from the Spirit, the Spirit from faith, and faith from Christ. These four all are one. In this universe there is God.

The Spirit of Faith, Part 1

When God speaks, we have the word. As we hear the word, the Spirit is infused into us and becomes faith, a faith which is Christ Himself. When we hear the preaching of the word of God, faith is thus produced within us. In our experience, the word becomes the Spirit, the Spirit is the living faith, and this faith is Christ. The proper speaking in the meetings of the church will always produce faith in this way. In the first two chapters of Galatians Paul speaks of Christ, but in chapter three he begins to speak of the Spirit. Through the hearing of faith we have received the Spirit.

Also, the Spirit is supplied to us by the hearing of faith. This indicates the urgent need for the hearing of faith. The hearing of faith as mentioned in 3: It distinguishes God's elect. It is of the work of God. As a gift — we receive it gratuitously from God. As a work — it is wrought in us by the Spirit of God.

As an act — we put it forth as the effect of the grace of God. Faith is divine in its origin, nature, and end. Without the Spirit — there is no faith. Without faith — there is no receiving Christ. Without receiving Christ — there is no salvation.

We are therefore under the greatest obligation to the Holy Spirit, and ought to acknowledge our obligation, and speak well of His name. The Holy Spirit produces faith in us. He quickens us — and we feel our lost and miserable condition. He enlightens us — and we see the exact adaptation of the Lord Jesus Christ to us. He is just what we need.

He is everything we need. A desire springs up in our heart to possess Him. We feel as if we would give a world — if Christ was ours. But doubt, fear, and suspicion works. We cannot exercise confidence in Him. We cannot cast our souls upon Him. We are afraid to trust for eternal life only to Him. Sometimes we question our warrant to do so.

Sometimes we feel as if we would at once venture on Him.

Do you believe, like Joshua and Caleb?

But there is no faith which brings the knowledge and enjoyment of salvation — but by the direct putting forth of the power of the Holy Spirit. He unveils Christ before us, opens His loving heart, exhibits the efficacy of His precious blood, shines upon some portion of His holy Word — and confidence springs up. We see that we are welcome to Jesus.

We feel that we can venture our everlasting all into His hands. We cast ourselves at His feet, confess our sin, grieve over our unbelief, appeal to His mercy, trust our all into His hands — and we are at peace. We believe the love that God has to us. We trust in the finished work of Christ alone for acceptance with God.

A Spirit of Faith: What can we learn from the story of Joshua and Caleb

We renounce our own works. We put self out of the question. Jesus is our Savior. His glorious work is our salvation. He is everything to us. We have entrusted everything to Him. He is to answer for us at the bar of justice. It is a spiritual force! The Bible calls it "the spirit of faith. What is the spirit of faith? It's believing with the heart or spirit and speaking with the mouth Rom. Biblical faith is not mental assent or intellectual agreement.

Faith is a spiritual force that grows and develops in the heart or spirit of man. Jesus said that His Word is spirit and life John 6: Therefore, Bible faith comes from God's Word: God's Word has the ability to produce a spiritual force within our hearts called "faith. As we hear the "logos" or the written Word of God, it develops faith inside of us.

THE SPIRIT OF FAITH - 2 COR. 4: 13, PSALM 116:10

We believe the logos—the written Word of God. Then as we speak the logos Word of God, in a sense it becomes a rhema Word of God to us. The word "rhema" is a Greek word. In its literal sense, it simply means "speaking" or "the spoken word. Therefore, the rhema Word of God—the Word of God spoken—is a spiritual force. It must be dealt with spiritually.

Unless you understand it spiritually, there is no way to explain the rhema Word of God.

The Bible says that spiritual things are spiritually discerned. Faith is a spiritual force, but it is not an isolated spiritual force. That means faith was never meant to work by itself. It must work in conjunction with other spiritual forces. For example, scriptural prayer is a spiritual force that releases the power of God.

But it takes faith to activate prayer. The love of God is also a spiritual force, but it takes love to make faith operate. The natural and the spiritual must also function together. Man's threefold nature—spirit, soul, and body—must work together.
