When I first started the series right after "Left Behind" came out years ago, it was difficult to wait for the next one to be published! Both my daughters read them while in college and finished the series as fast as they could. Several friends of mine were reading the series around the same time as I did and we all traded books among us whenever possible.

It was the hot topic of conversation whenever we got together. Now my second husband is reading them and could hardly wait for book 2 to arrive after I ordered it! Now my oldest daughter wants to start reading this series to her 2 kids when he is finished with the 1st 3 books This successful follow-up to the runaway bestseller "Left Behind" continues the story of a group of new Christians trying to keep the faith in a virtually de-Christianized world following the miraculous Rapture. As Nicolae Carpathia continues his rise to power behind a facade of peace and reconciliation, will even America dare to oppose him?

And will the Tribulation Force be able to stay under the Antichrist's radar even as Rayford Steele and Buck Williams find themselves drawn deeper and deeper into his malevolent web? Exciting and extraordinarily well thought out, "Tribulation Force" is both fun and thoughtful and inspiring as well. Some criticize the authors for injecting a heavy dose of romance into the story with this book, but in fact the burgeoning love between Chloe Steele and Buck is handled particularly well and it's not as if Christians are universally called to celibacy.

God is the father of love and saw fit to put the first couple together, after all. Yes, Christians need love too! Theologically the authors stay in tune with modern Evangelicals, but in my opinion even Christians from other churches can still derive a lot of pleasure and satisfaction from this moving saga. A great book on its own terms and a compelling lead-in to the next entry in the series, "Nicolae," which promises to be even more exciting. One clearly has to read this book in order to follow the story of the series.

However, the book is not well written, with many pages taking up seemingly arbitrary story line, only to be followed by a rush job at the end to move the story along. One almost gets the impression of disjointed ghost writers being asked to do little bits which are included at the end. But the styles and story telling of these paragraphs vary from the main book - almost as if the plot is not quite clear. The oddities of the first book hand over here too - e. I have gotten tired of the books that are out there that simply seek to titillate you with sex or horror with no real message. I have read 6 of this series at this point and will go back for the other 3 however on my Kindle. La Haye and his writing partner have created a wonder understanding of the prophecies in Ezekiel, Daniel and Revelations.

There is something exciting going on every five minutes. In the first book millions of people disappear, and the series follows the problems faced by those who are left behind. The main characters correctly guess the disappearances to be the Rapture, where Christ takes his faithful to heaven. After the Rapture there is a huge upswelling of interst in Christ, especially among the Jews, and thousands of conversions.

I'm the opposite of a fundamentalist, but these are some of the most exciting and uplifting books I've ever read. It was actually better than the first one. Excellent suspense and great characters lead the way for the sequel of Left Behind and I actually liked better than the first novel.

This novel is for anyone that wants to read a great story regardless of spiritual beliefs. The world has been turned upside down by the rapture. Loved ones have vanished and people that are left are asking questions. And now they must survive the horrors that lie ahead. As the Tribulation force must is preparing to survive at any cost they must become face to face with the antichrist Nicolae Carpathia who is already put his plan into motion to rule the world. With the horrors to follow, World War III, disease and natural disasters our heroes are trying to stay ahead of the evil that is Nicolae.

This novel does an excellent job of continuing to develop characters and keeping the pace fast and interesting and as I mentioned above is actually has a better pace than book one. This novel continues the relationship between Buck and Chloe which is fun and familiar to those who have been in love. Whether you are a Christian or not I highly recommend this novel and this series. If you are a believer you will find this conforting because you won't have to experience what is coming and what takes place in this novel.

Regardless if the reader sees the story as possibly happening in real life or not, it's hard to put down! When I first started the series right after "Left Behind" came out years ago, it was difficult to wait for the next one to be published! The second is that there is a focus on the rapture that could happen at any time, so we need to be prepared. Graeme Goldsworthy supports my view on this in that whatever the idea of the rapture, we must remember that we could die at anytime, and the fact that I could walk out onto High Street and get hit by a bus sort of makes the idea of the rapture a moot point.

Yes, the rapture could occur, but then so could my cold blooded murder. I think we need to be aware of the fact that we all die more than the belief that all Christians could suddenly vanish. If that is the case, at least we get a second chance. There is no second chance where death is involved. Another problem is Jesus' warnings about calculating times and dates.

He specifically says that we should avoid trying to pinpoint a time when he is coming.

Product details

As he says, he will come like a thief in the night, suddenly and unexpected, and that we should actually avoid those people that try to tell us when he is coming, or even pointing to events and saying that these events say that he is coming soon. Of course he is coming soon, he told us that when he was on Earth, and he has been coming soon for the last two thousand years. Time to God is not time to us. God is patient, and to God a thousand years is a day and a day is a thousand years. We should be aware, just like death, Jesus could come at anytime, and there is no actual event that will signal this, beyond his death and resurrection.

It is also interesting that in one of the epistles I cannot remember which one we are warned against focusing on times and dates as it is distracting. It seems that even as far back as the early church people were caught up with times and dates, whether it be when he would return, or the exact age of the church, or whether God created the world in a literal or figurative seven days.

We are told that this is not only irrelevant, it is also very distracting. It takes us away from the centrality of Christ's death and resurrection, and gets us caught up in fringe arguments that have nothing to do with our salvation. 4. This "Pre-Trib Rapture" teaching began as anti-Reformation propaganda created by a Jesuit Priest, but was rejected as false doctrine by the Protestant Church up until around , when it was reintroduced as a "new revelation" from God and erroneously "supported" by Scriptures that were then, and continue til this day, to have been completely and repeatedly taken out of context, and during the mid to late 19th century, became "doctrine" within some denominations after being adopted and spread throughout the United States by D.

Moody in his Prophecy Conferences, John Darby in his commentaries, and probably the most significant contributor to its widespread popularity, C. Scofield in his "Scofield Study Bible" which is still in print today. The "Pre-Trib Rapture" teaching later had a resurgence in the late 's and early 's with devotees and self-proclaimed "prophecy experts" like Hal Lindsey "The Late Great Planet Earth" , Jack Van Impe, and Tim LaHaye, amongst numerous others, who have all made millions of dollars peddling this erroneous teaching through books, TV shows, and movies.

Mar 03, Boundless rated it liked it Shelves: DNF - I read the first book as a kid, so obviously when relationship drama happened in the second book, I got bored and stopped. Now that I'm an adult, though, I don't feel like picking up this series again. For the most part, I enjoyed reading this book.

I think three stars is a fair, accurate assessment of the enjoyment I derived in the reading. It moves at a somewhat decent pace until close to the end, where it suddenly jumps eighteen months ahead in time. That was kind of jarring. The character development is okay; still hit-and-miss, but improving all the same.

It is kind of an "odd" book, though, in that I would say it focuses more on Chloe's and Buck's burgeoning relationship than anything el For the most part, I enjoyed reading this book. It is kind of an "odd" book, though, in that I would say it focuses more on Chloe's and Buck's burgeoning relationship than anything else to the extent of almost ignoring world events going on around the soon-to-be happy dating couple.

This book starts about two weeks after the events in the first book. It was not a bad read for me, on the one hand. There is a lot that happens in the book, though, which I think helps move it along despite the large number of conversations that occur throughout the book. Some things that stood out to me and not necessarily in a "positive" way: However, I never had the sense or impression that Rayford truly missed his wife and son in the first book.

I know a lot was going on, but, still, he never truly seemed to spend a lot of time grieving over his loss. The only times his grief was mentioned in the first book seemed merely as points to move the plot along; in this book, he still does not do much grieving, either. Granted, when it jumps ahead eighteen months, we discover he is considering getting engaged to another late-comer to Christ and Christianity, an Amanda White. I do not know; I almost wish the authors had used some of that "eighteen month gap" to further develop the relationship between Rayford and Amanda, as it seemed quite sudden and out-of-nowhere other than Amanda being mentioned in the prior book.

Then, there was Rayford's conversation with Buck about Hattie Durham. Rayford initially tells Buck that he knew Hattie, that there had never been any kind of relationship between the two of them on page Then, on page 76, he tells Buck that he nearly had an affair with Hattie and had the Rapture not occurred, he would have initiated such a relationship with her. I am sorry, but either you had some sort of relationship or you did not; you were either friends or you were not.

In the first book, we learn that the two of them spent a lot of time together in restaurants and bars, carrying on as if they were single. They were more than "just friends" even if they did not want to recognize it or acknowledge it. It was clearly more than just a 'causal, professional, platonic working relationship' if he was thinking of cheating with her on his wife and she was more than willing to have an affair with him! Also, Buck's response to Rayford's "confession" bugged me as well.

I just found his reaction completely hard to believe, especially when Rayford "finally" came clean and admitted to nearly having an affair with the woman. Buck's response was completely unbelievable to me unless he was thinking about Chloe the entire time. On page , Buck mentions that he wished he had met Chloe "years before. Buck is, at best, eight or nine years older than Chloe assuming he is "only" 30 while we know she is 21, 22 years of age.

    7. So how early does he wish he had met her? It sounds kinda creepy, on the one hand. On the other hand, I have a friend who told me about a similar situation where he said "where were you fifteen years ago! So I do 'get it' in terms of Buck and his reaction; he was in love and not thinking. Be that as it may, it still sounds a little creepy. It was nice to have that as a reference point if I wanted to look something up. It was just funny to me; I am not saying it was actually funny, per se, but I found it funny.

It got pretty old, pretty quick, to be honest I know Nicolai is the anti-Christ, but I still laughed at some of his reactions or how he manipulated people and possibly some events in order to get what he wanted. I had a specific moment in mind from the book, but have forgotten what it was. If it comes back to me, I will add it. At least Buck and Chloe had some relational trials and tribulations of their own before they were married even if they seemed a little childish, immature, and forced. Amanda was just mentioned in passing, and then, BOOM!!!!

It was interesting that Egypt stood by the United States of America and the United States of Britain; I had forgotten it was Egypt that had stood by the two long-term allies and friends. I could see the U. I thought I remembered Bruce dying by the end of this book; I had forgotten the circumstances behind it and where his death had occurred.

It was not anything like the shock I remember it being the first time I read the book! Hahahah funny, how that works. It was fast, fun, and friendly. I finished it relatively quick. The book ends on a bit of a cliffhanger, so it will be interesting to read the third book to rediscover how it all turns out.

Dec 31, Elle rated it liked it. In the second book in the Left Behind series, Tribulation Force, we continue following the lives of those left behind after the rapture. Rayford Steele, his daughter Chloe, and Buck Williams have all become followers of Christ and along with other new followers have committed to fighting off the Antichrist Nicolae Carpathia and introducing as many people as they can to Christ. Throughout this book Buck and Chloe have married, and Buck and Raymond have each taken their own assignments in finding In the second book in the Left Behind series, Tribulation Force, we continue following the lives of those left behind after the rapture.

Throughout this book Buck and Chloe have married, and Buck and Raymond have each taken their own assignments in finding the truth. Much like the first book this one will keep you involved in the story and characters, there is some time that is unaccounted for within the book, but overall has set up a great story filled with study of the prophecies and how they could come about. The Tribulation Force allows you to see the characters grow in their walk with Christ during a time where the world is in chaos and their search for the truth.

The Left Behind books will keep you entertained and wanting more, although some of it is unbelievable they are great stories to read. It would be wise to remember that these books are also the work of two authors and how they see the book of Revelation coming to pass. Take these as a grain of salt as only one interpretation and be sure to read the book of Revelation and studying the book yourself before committing the Left Behind Series as how things will turn out. Dec 15, James Rieser rated it it was amazing.

This is a great book. After Nicolae Carpathia asked Buck to join his team, Buck has to chose his decisions carefully because if he picks poorly, Nicolae might find out his secret. While this is going on the rest of the gang are trying to recruit more people to become Christians to join the tribulation. This is an exciting sequel to the book Left Behind; I loved it.

This story has a great plot and I hope you e This is a great book. This story has a great plot and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Now I suggest you read the first book Left Behind before you read this one. I think reading this book would be confusing without have read the first book. I actually enjoyed this book more than the first one. Tribulation Force was more intriguing than Left Behind in my opinion. It dragged out details at some points, but this book was much more interesting to me than the first. The Bible speaks of the tribulation in Revelation and that is exactly what it depicts in this book.

The depiction the book gives is very vivid and one thing you may learn from this book is how to trust God with everything. The book shows how in the end times we will be reliant on God to help us; we must have faith in Him to protect us, our friends and family. I enjoyed this book very much and can't wait to read the next one.

Sep 10, Sara Parker rated it it was ok Shelves: Hey, Nicolae is the Antichrist. Did you know Nicolae is the Antichrist?

      Tribulation Force - Wikipedia

I'm certain Nicolae is the Antichrist. That is how the first third of this book went. It was repetitive and boring. The repetitiveness didn't end. Fortunately, the plot picked up - in the last chapter. Raymond was a badgering nut. I get wanting to share your faith, but at the cost of pushing people away? At the cost of repelling them from Christianity forever?

His character is the epitome of why the world holds us Christians in Hey, Nicolae is the Antichrist. His character is the epitome of why the world holds us Christians in ill regard - pushy and judgmental. The other characters weren't as bad, thank God. Buck is the realest one among them, and I actually enjoy reading his sections. But they did keep coming to the same conclusions over and over, and I almost quit. Cheesy to the max. LaHaye and Jenkins were trying to write clean interactions, I get that, but apparently "clean" means "kindergarten.

I bet you even kissed once! This in reference to a couple considering marriage. Not my favorite, but suddenly exciting things are happening. The horsemen are appearing, and I'm interested in the theology some of it sound, some questionable , so I'll keep reading. Of course, I said the same thing at the end of Left Behind, but third book's a charm?

Feb 23, Connor rated it really liked it. After reading Book One of the "Left Behind" series, I read the second book "Tribulation Force" hoping it would be better than the first one. I know part of that was because they had to build all the characters, but in Book Two the story really gets going. Book Two was great for me because it moved faster and had a stronger story line. If you're a religious reader and you want a good series, even though I have only read two After reading Book One of the "Left Behind" series, I read the second book "Tribulation Force" hoping it would be better than the first one.

If you're a religious reader and you want a good series, even though I have only read two of the books I would definitely recommend this series. Book Two in the Left Behind series was great. The action in this book is paced much faster. The group of four who call themselves the Tribulation Force move closer to the signing of the treaty. This will start the seven year Tribulation period.
