Art suddenly decides that he realizes he was a fool for trying to resurrect his daddy that was rather lame. HEA surgical repair fixer-upper. Oh, yeah, and Dori decides she can be with Jake because.. Oh, it's the Eye of Bastet not 'of the whatever' Oh, yeah, he accepted her as a witch. That was decided so easily, simple, without horror or wtf-ness at her true self it wasn't believable.

Sex, btw, was the main reason why this story was written, that's what I suspect anyhoo. It was scorching so excellent job there. Overall, it was an ok read. Only read the SL novella. A hot mess with too much nonsense crammed into it, making it go all over the place. Really, covens just move in and out of Smithville, led by their gods to do so when the old coven is too weak or whatever? And Jamie has screamed at an archangel personally? A god cursed her and tons of other "powers" are gunning for her with what, ghosts? At one point she's fighting to be a champion of a god, Only read the SL novella.

Her familiar gets shot through with an arrow but was healed so she's totally ok um. A bird isn't going to survive hitting the ground like that. She is unable to stand a scent, which blinds her to the fact that another woman is a witch really? Not that good at her job, is she? She dislikes Smithville and doesn't want to settle for a backwoods nowhere town, but now she's all happy?

No more insatiable power hunger that had no purpose and made her want to go to the dark side? It says straight out that she didn't love her ex didn't seem to even like him , but then suddenly throws in that she gets super horny after magic but only sometimes, when it's convenient to the story, not every time she uses magic , and she is worried about making the same mistakes with Tully about scaring him off with sexual demands like her ex She survives being hit around by a shifter, you know, hitting trees with her face, can't think at all, but knows to go to a specific place, manages to kick him and hit him so he's temporarily disabled no, not possible for a full human , and just stumbles around through the woods until she reaches her coven.

It babbles about how the villain was killed for his plan to force-mark her gee, isn't that what Niles did in an earlier book? Which apparently just makes a human automatically your mate? Cam she not just kill him if that happened? Witches weren't even a thing in this series and now there's a new spin off about them. You don't actually run into anyone you know, so it's not obvious it's part of the series. I like this one better than the first one in that the H isn't a creep.

Was kinda frustrating that it took so long to take care of The Problem. And, I must admit, I don't generally care for her wolves Dee Ann and the Van Holtz bunch being an exception because they tend to play up that hillbilly angle a bit much Tully - the H - is a member of the Smith Pack He plays dumb a lot. He's not an ass either, though admittedly it's usually the females who take on that unpleasant nature.

Cynthia Eden's entry is yet another random pairing in her world. I did like this one but the end made me flinch a bit. Sherrill Quinn's entry is a PWP really. Oh there's a plot in there but for such a short story 80 pages or so , most of it seemed to be overly descriptive and crudely written sex. Jun 17, Catherine Rivera rated it really liked it. I love Shelly Laurenston's stories. They all tend to have scenes that make me laugh regardless of where I'm reading.

This book had a couple of those moments. Tully Smith yes, he's related to the Smiths we love from the Pride series is charming and I liked his laid back existance. Jamie is NY like I remember it. She's strong, a smartass and independent and hides a warm interior. I wish there were another of these Long Island Coven stories. I cant wait 2 read more of it from each of the characters that would find a mate like they did. Apr 05, Amy Webster-Bo rated it it was amazing.

The first can be found in the Sun, Sand, Sex anthology that I reviewed last month. Time has passed and it is now six months further on and Jamie's coven has settled quite nicely in town and in addition to running the hotel has enmeshed themselve Belong to the night is an anthology containing stories by Shelly Laurenston, Cynthia Eden and Sherrill Quinn. Time has passed and it is now six months further on and Jamie's coven has settled quite nicely in town and in addition to running the hotel has enmeshed themselves into local community. All except for Jamie herself. Jamie isn't interested in settling but wants to pursue power even to the extent of trying to become a champion to a Celtic goddess.

Tully Smith on the other hand, mayor of the town is absolutely settled and is perfectly happy with where he is and where he is going. And as mayor, he is asked to keep a close eye on Jamie given that she's already poisoned the lake which she cleaned up and set fire to the woods which she put out. Not such a hardship given that he's already doing something of the sort anyway. But not everything's so easy. You don't annoy a sex god without consequences and this is combined with the fact that trouble arrives in town in the unwelcome form of Buck Smith and his sons.

This is so much better than My Kind of Town was primarily I think because all the major players are known and this allows for pure story without the need for introductions. The dynamic between the coven members is explored more fully and the interaction between Jamie and her cousin Mac is hilarious, especially the scene where there are serving a meal at the hotel.

Jamie and Tully are both excellent characters being perfect counterpoints to each other but then, apart from the bad people that we're not supposed to like, all the characters are likeable. All in all, a typical high standard release from Shelly Laurenston containing everything that's expected; witty dialogue, action pieces and of course, some hot loving. Finally, whilst there do seem to be hints of another relationship that could blossom, this is currently the last book in The Long Island Coven and I don't know if more a forthcoming. The second story is In the Dark by Cynthia Eden.

In Real Life - Tonight Belongs to You (Official Video)

The premise a simple one in that Sadie is on the trail of a killer when she spots her former partner and lover, Liam, cosying up to a redhead in a bar. Which is surprising considering she attended his funeral after he and his team were killed when attempting to take down a vampire. And that happened before she could tell him of her own secret that she is a leopard shifter who has been raised to kill vampires with prejudice. So when she confronts Liam at the bar and finds out that he didn't die but was turned into a shifter's prey, things are a bit awkward.

Whereas Wicked Ways had a full human as the heroine and had to be introduced into the world of Others where shifters, vampires and demons exist, both Sadie and Liam belong to that world so there was no hand holding the reader and explaining the world. Given what Sadie was raised to believe I did like how she overcame her beliefs and let her heart win out with Liam although it wasn't an easy process. Liam however, first came across as an arrogant ass especially when he took her blood without asking after she attempted to drive a stake through his heart.

However, the relationship quickly turns more positive during the hunt for a killer who is another shifter. The ending is very bittersweet and the HEA for Sadie and Liam shows how much her feelings have changed given the sacrifice she made. Dori is back in town searching for her brother, Art and tries to enlist the help of Jack, a detective. Unfortunately, the last time she was in town six months ago, things got to a certain point between them before she left without saying goodbye to him.

Dori's issue with pursing a relationship with a man she desperately wants is that whilst she's a witch, he's a normal human and she's afraid that he'll reject her when he finds out her heritage. This is the shortest story of the three but without a doubt the hottest. The relationship is very much the primary focus her with Dori's search for her brother just the glue that ties the sequences together. The only thing I found annoying was the use of the Cajun dialect but I get overdosed with that when I read an Anita Blake novel. But given that they are both set in the same city, it is to be expected, I suppose.

The sex scenes are scorching, much hotter than Cynthia Eden's and dare I say it, better than some of Shelly Laurenston's. Whilst I bought this purely for Shelly Laurenston's story, Belong to the Night is a very good anthology containing three quality stories.

Belong To The Night

May 27, TinaMarie rated it it was amazing. It really could have been a gem for me but rather than enhance the story the sex was a major distraction. This was one of those books I picked up simply because three of my favorite para-romance authors were behind it. I already know how much I will love it. This book is awesome! The hotness packed into these three stories will leave you aching for more and most likely on fire.

Protect the town they were entrusted with.

No one said she had to be nice while doing it. She is a rough and tumble woman through and through. Damn all those who defy her. No one stands in her way. No one, except Tully Smith that is. He is the sexiest lion shifter she has ever laid eyes on. He is cocky, smooth-talkin and the mayor of the town. Neither one of them needs a distraction when long-lost relatives on the wrong side of the law want to take their small town over. Together though, they are most definitely a force to be reckoned with. In and out of the bedroom. The town of Smithville is the main focus as is some of her other novels.

She gets you right in there with her characters and makes me feel for them. Mainly because he was supposed to be dead.

Belong to the Night (World in Shadows, #3)

Now the sexy leopard shifter has spotted him. He is a vampire. Ambushed and left for dead he survived to come back and fight those evil among us. Knowing Sadie would never accept him he left her behind, not knowing what she herself was. Now they have to team up in search of a vicious shifter killer. Emotions run high and everything is at stake. Her writing will transport you to another world. One where anything and everything is possible. Where its okay to be who you are and love with everything you have in you. The monsters that go bump in the night are NOT in your imagination and will come for you if given the chance.

I own almost her entire backlist. What she never meant to find was love with sexy, Cajun cop Jake. Her focus needs to be on her brother and a missing amulet that would destroy all witches. Instead she keeps finding herself in the arms of Jake. Actually surviving the evil out to get her, that will be the true test. She definitely has a voice all her own. There is one particular scene…. The sex scenes, wow. Need I say more? Not that I am surprised. If you like short para romance stories hot enough to singe your hair, you will love this!

Dec 20, Amanda rated it liked it. My individual ratings for the short stories are as follows and are listed by the name of the author: Shelly Laurenston-1 star or less -The reason that I have given this story such a bad review is because it was just that horrible. I only got through the first 20 pages before I felt like I was slowly pulling my eyeballs out of their sockets!

The character names, for one thing, were so horrible that you couldn't help but want to cry in shame for the characters. Also, the author couldn't decide if My individual ratings for the short stories are as follows and are listed by the name of the author: Also, the author couldn't decide if the female lead in this story was going to just be a needs-to-be-sent-to-the-crazyhouse-bitch or if she was just misunderstood. The author also had trouble deciding if the female lead was going to be a lesbian, bisexual, or straight which is very distrubing if you think about it.

The author also wrote what has to be one of the most disturbing male leads ever. He has such mommy and daddy issues that it is a miracle he could think about having sex with anyone else. He also had a really bad case of daddy worship and didn't care that his daddy would beat him up a little.

Belong to the Night (World in Shadows, #3) by Bridget Blackwood

The other really bad thing in a long list of bad things is that this story never gets any better or more romantic! You continue to think that the female lead cannot stand anyone of the male gender and that he thinks she needs to be thrown in jail and possibly executed. I read forward in the story to see if it got better and was sorely disappointed. Because of this story I will never read another book by this author again because I already have horribly irreversible images in my head from this one!!

This story was almost good enough to give 5 stars to, but the reason I didn't was because I felt that it was a little bit rushed and that not everything really got resolved as it should this could have been the publisher's fault and not the author's. I highly recommend this author to anyone who enjoys adult paranormal romance!

The romance was pretty hot and there was a good storyline, but the author had such a great storyline and I felt that she didn't do as good of a job as she could have with it. The paranormal character that this author picked to write about was a witch, only you would never know it until you got to the end of the story though. And this story just felt very cheesy and forced when it came to the paranormal aspect of the story. I think that this story would have been a lot better if it had just been a contemporary romance instead of a paranormal romance.

Jul 25, Djg rated it really liked it Shelves: I've read a story by her in another anthology and I did not like the heroine at all even by the of the story she didn't improve. She is a good writer with an interesting imagination but I just don't do "Mean Girls" authors. This is not her best but that does not mean it's not good. Shifter and FBI agent Sadie thought her lover had died 2 years ago so she's shocked when she walks into a bar and sees him with a red-head hanging all over him.

Liam is no longer human which is why he stayed away from her for 2 years. Liam took many lovers during their separation. It is explained that the exchange of blood is very sexual and it's "all part of the process". I get that he thought he would never see Sadie again but I dislked it. Some people are naturally brilliant, others have to buy it. What would you pay, to be one in a million?

I have to state up front that I purchased this book for the Shelly Laurenston's story only and that's the only one I read. Just like all of Shelly Laurenston's stories, it had romance, action, sex, crazy supporting characters and a whole lot of humor! I am just in awe of this author's ability to create such amazing, insane, unconventional, fun loving, yet always entertaining characters!

I just don't know where she pulls it from, but I so hope she keeps them coming! One person found this helpful 2 people found this helpful. I lover her characters, how she builds them and gives them layers I also really appreciate her ability to tie all the characters together regardless of which character she's focusing on for that particular book One person found this helpful. I bought this for Shelly's story and I enjoyed it. I did not care for the other two stories.

As always, Shelly Laurenston's contribution to this is really excellent, and I really enjoyed Sherrill Quinn's contribution also. They were both amusing, steamy and well written. I thought Cynthia Eden's story was a bit of a letdown; not terrible but nothing to keep me reading. Still worth buying for the other two.

I got this book because of Shelly Laurenston. I buy everything from Shelly. She is the best at "feisty girls". Take a look at how her career has taken off in the last few years. That just shows you how good she is. I love all her shape shifter novels. Mass Market Paperback Verified Purchase. I really only got this book to read the story by Shelly and it was as good as all her other books. I cracked up a lot during the whole thing. I read the other two and didn't like them as much, but hey that's just me.

Not only does he act in that capacity but he also has worked in collusion with the therians. We get to see Manias from a greater angle in this story, mostly because he is directly involved in the story, but also because Blackwood is building up the story leading us even further on the journey that encompasses each book as the story grows. There is an endgame involved here and each character, species, etc has its role in it.

The things from Manias' past have to come to a head to alter the paths of many characters which further changes some outcomes and brings other things to light all with the great purpose of expanding the story as a whole. Elisavet is a wonderful character, arriving on the scene for the first time in this story, we see her as a loving young woman who desires more out of her job and has a wish in her heart to understand the Shadow World better.

Unfortunately she gets what she wants in an unexpected and somewhat horrifying way. After an attack leaves her changed, Elisavet isn't sure how to proceed with her new life, she only knows she isn't human anymore. She feels lost, alone, and afraid, but also determined to find out who she is now and be that person.

While Elisavet adjusts to being a Sang, human turned vampire, she struggles both within herself and to find her place in the new world she's been thrust in. None other than Manias. As she comes to terms with her new place in life, Elisavet uncovers answers to a mystery from Manias' past and the keys to bringing things to light.

Manias and Elisavet both fall for each other, but both are afraid of what such a relationship will mean, its kind of nice to watch a big strong Alpha man sort of fall all over himself for a woman. While he's nothing but professional in his role as Regis, Elisavet is able to bring out a playful side to Manias and take a little bit of weight off his shoulders. She brings a nice sort of balance to his life in a totally adorable way, no spoilers here, but they share some fun moments.

Belong to the Night brings to light many interesting things that not only affect our characters in this installment, but things that will be brought further out in future stories. What I love about this series is how each story builds onto an even larger back story and foreshadows things to come in future books, so while there is a definite couple focus, there is also a grander scheme to all the smaller elements. Elisavet comes through as the sweet girl we meet briefly as a human, but also shows a greater depth of change in that she finds her place in the world, albeit not in the way she expected.

This story brings us adventure, mystery, secrets, lies, and tears. Each element adds up to a larger, grander plan for our vampire royal couple and those surrounding them. Things just keep getting interesting and the future books are sure to bring us more pieces to the masterpiece that is the World in Shadows. Feb 21, Jasmyn rated it it was amazing Shelves: I love going to visit World in Shadows. There is such a great build up of the story that continues from book to book that is hard to resist.

The characters are so dynamic and developed. While each book has its own story, they also add a new layer and progression to the overall series. Elisavet is the first of her kind in hundreds of years. Her change is dramatic and the shock waves travel well beyond her family. The world is outraged than a human can be changed and this could be devastating to th I love going to visit World in Shadows. The world is outraged than a human can be changed and this could be devastating to the constantly evolving relations between humans and the preternatural community.

The build up for this was amazing! Now Manias is a man full of responsibility. He has sooo much on his plate, but he gladly takes the care and teaching of Elisavet on - there's just something about her. As a vampire that is constantly in control, he quickly finds himself overwhelmed and the only way he can guarantee Elisavet's safety is a very drastic step. I got to learn a lot about the vampire culture and history, and it really helped build the world to something even more than it already was. The ending just about gave me a heart attack.

It was so well done. I had a feeling of satisfaction and conclusion for Manias and Elisavet, but there's a hook - not a cliffhanger - that is pulling me back to the world to read some more as soon as I can. Belong to the Night starts out with a bang and never slows.

They mystery that is edge of your seat addictive. How did Elisavet get turned? Who's the mysterious killer who wants to take over the Vampire Hierarchy? Elisavet is determined to find out. Manias and Elisavet's chemistry is electric. They work together to find out "whodunnit". I enjoyed the banter between Elisavet and her guards Joao and Lorcan. Comedic relief they are.
