Written in a relaxed, conversational tone, this book is an easy read. Often we hear of practitioners coming to the craft from other religions, but the story of their journey is rarely told. I think it is important for fellow witches to hear these stories, especially those new to the craft.

Kudos to Elaanie for writing this book. For those considering the ebook version: I read the ebook version and I found it to be well formatted. No issues with it at all. Elaanie S offers a pointed look at Christianity as she takes you through a shockingly honest journey away from dogma to a more personal path of spiritual freedom through witchcraft. It allows you to live the transformation with her as she critically examines all the questions and inconsistencies on her quest for enlightenment and personal power.

This book is perfect for anyone who has been questioning the confusion and restriction of Christianity, but has been too frightened or even guilt stricken to leave the confines of their birth religion. For those who have already taken this adventure, it serves as a reminder of the subtle influences Christianity has in perspective and judgement on our society as a whole and how easily we can fall prey to it again, even after having forcibly removed ourselves from that lifestyle.

I have been on this path all my life but only realized it this past year. I have struggled with my "awakening". At times feeling I was going to go to hell because I no longer believed the church doctrine I was taught my entire life. The Witch's Journey by Elaanie Stormbender has helped me considerably with my feelings of guilt, shame and even despair. Now I know Elaainie's story and how she found her way, that she felt the same feelings, concerns and worries that I have felt by realizing that I did not choose the path of the witch, it chose me! I now know I am not alone and that others have been through similar awakenings as I have and that its ok!

I have never been afraid of my witch's path, only what Christian society has told me my entire life - that to believe in anything other than the gospel you will go to hell! Well, Elaanie has taken the sting out of that hell fire for me by shedding light on the Christian dogma and for that I am eternally grateful.

Thank you Elaaine for standing in your truth! Elaanie S has given us a remarkable book. As someone who grew up in a very conservative and Pentecostal background I can relate to much of what she has written about. I highly recommend this book for anyone interested in a different view but definitely for those who have left Christianity and embraced a Pagan lifestyle. Well written and provides really great insight into the pagan community and one woman's journey.

Struggles, hardships and acceptance of the lifestyle are real issues faced among those with "different" beliefs and this speaks to each of those as the author breaks free from the stigma associated with the pagan way. A really good read for anyone carrying the weight of a guilty conscious and the fear associated with breaking free from christian dogma. That cycle of fear and guilt is no way to live. Yay for Amythyst for writing this and sharing her wisdom with her readers! One of the aspects that I really enjoyed about this book is the key of using intuition and the tarot which is how I read cards using intuition, my psychic sense, and the traditional meaning for the cards.

I really liked this whole book but the parts I really really enjoyed were the breakdown of each card and its meaning along with her personal voice or experience with each card. Anyone can re-word traditional meanings of the cards but Amythyst adds in her own VOICE, I feel like she was right in the room with me sharing her knowledge and wisdom.

The section on Tarot and crimes really hit a nerve with me because of my involvement criminal justice system. Amythyst shared her personal readings of missing people cases and shared an outcome if there was one. This chapter just made me respect the author more.

I can see though, how it relates to the tarot. She has given me food for thought for further exploration in this area when I am ready to tackle that next step in my learning. I wish that there was a "look inside" option for this book, look inside really helps a perspective buyer seal the deal, rather that relying on other buyers reviews, I think Amazon should require that on all books but that is just my opinion.

Either way if you are on the fence about buying this book, I really enjoyed it, I could relate to it, and I know that it will be a treasured book in my library for many years to come! I can't promise it will move mountains for you, every person is different, but it did for me. I was given this book for an objective review.

I am often disappointed in books about the craft but this one has a lot to offer. Each card is described, not in great detail, which there are videos out there that do, and while very informative, they can get quite boring. This isn't like that - the author has taken each card and broken it down for the reader in such a way to give the reader an intuitive grasp of the card.

This is exactly the insight that most beginners and intermediates to the tarot will need to understand in order to advance. There's also a good bit of helpful tips if one wants to give Tarot readings professionally - how to handle customers that are overly needy, talkative, or what to do for customers you just can't read. The middle to end of the book dives deeper into readings - readings to help solve crimes, with case studies, and then goes deeper yet into magickal correspondences - using the cards along with numerology and systems of Western magic in spells.

Several examples of spells are given.

Students that have studied Crowley's system of using the tarot may particularly enjoy the very last of the book - it may not be as clear to beginning students but serious occultists should find it quite useful. I would have liked to have seen the author expand her section on spreads and organize them with the case studies that were included with those a bit better.

The Witch’s Journey

As a collector with over volumes, I would also add that had the section on spreads been as clear as the rest of the book, I'd have given it a 5. It might have even put the book up there with some of my most beloved classics- IE Cunningham on herbs. It's definitely a keeper and I look eagerly forward to more by this author.

Waste of time and money. One person found this helpful 2 people found this helpful. I like the Gray Witch and was expecting more from this book. The best part is the way she has grouped suits and number cards so that she describes energies common to a single suit or a single set of numbers, such as all the sixes for example. The author didn't really try to implant and unique or complex magic ideologies into the story. I didn't really mind, but if you always want something different in your fantasy books, this is probably not the one for you.

Witch's Journey is the story of Jinissa, a young woman accused of witchcraft who is summoned to the king for questioning before she can be served her punishment. It is the responsibility of Lord Stephan to bring the convicted witch to the king. The "journey" in the title appears in many different instances throughout the novel. The actual physical journey to the king is the obvious one. Jinny herself goes through a self-discovery journey during the trip, trying to understand what her ultimate fa Witch's Journey is the story of Jinissa, a young woman accused of witchcraft who is summoned to the king for questioning before she can be served her punishment.

A Witch's Journey (Lobster Cove, #1) by Tena Stetler

Jinny herself goes through a self-discovery journey during the trip, trying to understand what her ultimate fate is as someone who has her abilities. The romance that predictably evolves between Jinny and Lord Stephan is another journey. The author did an admirable job of capturing these different journeys. While the author did take time for the romance to evolve, once it did, it escalated at a really rapid rate. I think readers will find themselves torn on how they feel about Lord Stephan.

At first, he comes across as being a ruthless man who hates Jinny's people and, therefore, feels very negatively about Jinny.

He won't speak more than two words to her and treats her more like an animal than a human being. As time evolves and he gets to know and understand Jinny, he becomes more forgiving and opens up to her. I just felt this whole evolution happened very quickly, making it harder for me to wrap my head around. At times, the pace of the writing dragged.
