It is the second book in the Chloe series, and it is about Chloe Miller and her Christian band Redemption trying to get famous. Where Chloe lives a lot of teenagers misbehave. But, when Chloe and her band are playing live, they influence a lot of people, including the misbehavers. A Christian recording company wants theme to play to see if they can make it big. What will happen to redemption?
Read Sold Out to find out. This book was pretty good. There is a little mix of romance but not a lot. This book kept me reading late at night, but not as badly as other books have. There is one adult themed instance, so I recommend older teens to read this. I like the writing style of Melody's, it was fun to read. Please try again later. In fact, throughout the book, we are led to believe that Minnie was an active and willing participant in the relationship. There are endless coming-of-age stories depicting young boys enjoying their budding sexuality without shame, many of them lusting after women twice their age. Usually we are given a view of women as sexual objects, yet deny that they are sexual creatures. This is a story of a teenage girl shamelessly exploring her sexuality with enthusiasm. She is intelligent, self aware, amorous, sexually liberated, without the usual consequential disaster normally associated with these traits.
This page book switches between prose and graphic novel, starting with a detailed drawing of Minnie, dark long hair with short bangs, big eyes looking up into the sky. The words on the opposite page read: My appearance has not improved so I suppose it was a lucky break when he was attracted by my youthfulness.
We also understand that this character has some insight because she knows it was her youthfulness that attracted the attention of Monroe. Her best friend Kimmie is the epitome of all Minnie dislikes in herself. As we get to know Monroe better, we understand that he is an insecure, needy, emotional child at best, and at worst, he is an all-out child molester who should be imprisoned for life. This book is unique, powerful and not for the tenderhearted. If you are bored reading about women that are usually the victim, always innocent, never responsible for their own decisions or their own lot in life, you will find this story refreshing in its truthfulness.
The artwork is beautiful and detailed. After accepting the Lord Jesus into her heart. Chloe Miller begins to face many challenges in life. One of the biggest challenges is her music. I very impressed with Chloe. Laura who is their base player is forbidden by her priest to play in the band Redemption. He think their music worships Satan. He also thinks that Chloe's church is teaching false doctrine. And he feels that the music Chloe writes should be all about God and not of the problems that everyone faces. So Laura is in a situation and does not know what to do.
So the band has to find another bass player. Does Chloe have enough bravery to stand up to Laura's priest. Does Redemption still go on. This is when the Chloe, Laura and Ally face celebrity life. Will they get signed or will they die down and just be another garage band. I loved reading this book and I can't wait until the third one.
I loved the first book in the series and the sequel doesn't disappoint! I read another review on this book saying the conversations were too deep and the slang oldfashioned making this book hard to believe. I am 15 years old and I could relate to every conversation in this book. Chloe, Laura, and Allie struggle with finding the truth throughout the book. Laura's pastor decides he won't allow Laura to be in the band because "it's not Christian enough" and the girls don't know who to trust because everyone starts acting like their friend.
