You moved your hand and pressed. You assumed there was some kind of marker on you for being new. You woke up the next day. Itzal still sleeping. You checked the Arena's page for any new posts and you found that your challenge had made a small splash. Already people were falling into two camps about your chances. Yuuka was a known name so she got more of the sympathy. People had obviously heard about your gimmick as everyone was sending pictures of various people in stages of bondage. Captioned with 'when Rune loses' or 'Yuuka's gonna get tied up'. You took a few notes.

You checked and saw that your fight was scheduled for the middle of the day. Leaving you free to get something done this morning before you needed to be at the arena. You decided to be productive. You looked up Yuuka's record. She was sort of new. Only joining about a month ago. Interestingly enough the slave she had wasn't the one she started with. That one had gotten taken in a match. She had risked herself afterward to raise enough money to buy a new one.

This one had three matches under her belt. One win with her mistress and two losses on her own. The win had been enough to cover the money lost on the other two but you were starting to see why she was so willing to do a friendly match. She primarily fought in ranged battles but she had two melee ones that you could find. She fought using a sword and her slave used a spear. Sort of like the combo Itzal and you had used against Jasmine. It was time to take Itzal and get to the arena. You wouldn't be sitting around for very long.

Just to make sure you were ready to go when you got there you qued up your weapons. For the record in testing, these all balanced out very well with the dummies of equal level winning against each other pretty evenly. Even the dummies with variances had a pretty even shot. You arrived at the Arena still just under an hour before your match. It was easy enough to make your way down to the armory to get equipped. As you made your way through the hallways. You ran into Jasmine. You didn't have time to talk but she made sure to remind you of your dinner plans.

Then she rolled her eyes and shoved you along. Your gear was pretty straightforward. Just a pair of spears. You were almost certain you would have been stereotyped with an axe but you didn't care. The audience would have put horns on your helmet if you let them! For their debut match!

Rune and Itzaaaallllllll. This was nothing like a combat drop.

This was Dropped even lower and is now on her way to the top! Vanesa Yuuuuka. This was the first time you saw her in the flesh. She drew her sword and did a flourish for the audience, they loved it. Far too late for you to try something similar. One of these beautiful ladies will be bound for your pleasure when this is done! Another cheer resounding. There's not a lot of room for tactics.

Just an open field with you facing off against your opponent. There are four main plans to try. You take her slave. Whoever takes out their opponent first comes to help the other one. Let's go! The start to your fighting career was a bit less than auspicious.

You and Yuuka charged each other while Itzal did the same with her opponent. While it was fair to say that in the first clash you came out ahead that wasn't saying much. You barely managed to wack her in the arm as she tried a clumsy swing at you.

It was nowhere near as spectacular as what happened with the slaves. Itzal got trucked. She obviously had expected the other girl to slow down before running into her. She didn't. Your slave got slammed back to the ground. Fortunately, the collision also winded Yuuka's slave so she couldn't follow up but it was still a bit embarrassing as your slave rapidly scrambled to her feet. You truly were well matched with Yuuka.

After the weak start, the two of you were rapidly trading blows. Coming together in a furious flash of violence before separating again. The audience was loving it. Especially when you finally managed to get through her guard and land a blow against her ribs. Not enough to knock her out but more than enough to wind her. Once again the slaves just had to upstage you. Itzal was furious at what had just happened. The other slave raised her weapon, obviously expecting to enter a standard duel.

Itzal was a wrecking ball. She didn't have the momentum to knock her opponent down but she knocked her back.

Following up with a series of fierce swings, one of which connected with her opponent's helmet. You got cocky. You'd been doing all the damage. As she feinted to the left she managed to bring her weapon back around. You barely managed to bring up the rear of your weapon to block.

She applied a bit more force and you felt your arm get zapped with energy. Forcing you to jump back. Itzal was in a more standard skirmish now. Focusing on her footwork as she circled her opponent. Unlike their initial clashes, this was a more hesitant fight.

29. Why Should I Worry? (Oliver & Company, 1988)

The two stabbing at each other weakly, hoping to get through. Her opponent achieved it first. Managing to hit Itzal's arm directly. Fortunately, she wasn't experienced enough to follow up on it, letting Itzal regain her proper hold of her weapon. She had obviously adapted to your style. You were forced on the defense as the sword flashed through the air.
