And he launches into action back in the States. The word is getting out from those who clearly can speak from the first person, and the author is one. Once you get started on this you will find it hard to stop reading it.

'Real-life Pennywise' - the killer clown who slaughtered 33 teenagers

Lieutenant Paul Rieckhoff's story of day to day survival in Iraq as a platoon leader is an in your face narrative. It puts you in the action of an obscure daily mission. A mission filled with question marks. No support from higher ups. Killing innocent civilians, children and mothers. Riceckhoff entered Iraq as an idealistic American citizen. He thought, to set a people free. What he discovered was different although he can not give all the facts. He was not aware of Dylan Avery's dvd on Too bad, it would have awoken Paul to the reality.

The over all evidence shows our government was complicit in to use it as a trigger to invade Iraq and cover up money stolen from accounts. Much blame is put on Bush but I see him as more of a pawn in this game. Others, are pushing his buttons from Cheney on down. Closed doors, executive orders, controlled media, are all part of this attempt to develop a police state in America. And from Paul Rieckhoff's experience the middle and lower class will be canon fodder for the elite to rule.

Rieckhoff's nature shows that the common man is sometimes capable of uncommon valor. His soul will endure. The souls of those who perpertrade this madness will not. The book is a fast read and should be read by every idealistic American who thinks of volunteering to serve in this Iraq war. Being there is not what the media shows. The media does not show all.

Just enough to inflame our rage against the enemy. Pogo said it best, "We have met the enemy and the enemy is us.

The 25 Best Romance Authors (And Their Most Swoonworthy Reads)

If you are a veteran and know anything about the author, or take the time to review his background, you will appreciate this book and it clarity and honesty. Paul returned and has worked tirelssly to promote ways to honor, serve, and care for our military. He has had a visceral impact with his generation of warriors and this book will help any reader understand what happened, what is happening, and why we need to support his efforts and other organizations with similar goals. Paul Rieckhoff is a true patriot. He volunteered to serve in Iraq.

He kept a journal of his day to day activities during the early days of the Iraq war. He captured the meaning of this war for all soldiers and Americans at home in this wonderful book. His book relates both the tragedy and humor of this war. A must read for anyone wanting to know what the war was all about. The author is a brave and honest man in tellling the way he feels the war is truly going. You can see how his feelings about this conflict start to change because of his actual first hand experiences. My hats off to this man for his honesty and courage.

I think he gives an honest asessment of what is actually occuring over there without having an "axe to grind". I found this book riveting and well-written. Rieckhoff's stories made me feel as if I was serving right beside him in Iraq. He doesn't sugarcoat the situation on the ground and gives a soldier's eye view of the war that you won't find anywhere else.

"The Conjuring 2" is about a girl being possessed by a demon in London.

I highly recommend it! One person found this helpful. A very candid, informative narrative on the author's tour of duty in Iraq. He has, indeed, "Walked the Walk".

Now this was a tough one for me, it is said this can be read as a standalone and I partly agree with that. However, I haven't had the pleasure of reading the previous books so I found I lost out on relating to the characters stories as much as i expected. If I had of read the previous books the rating may of been higher. I love books in the war era, so I was very excited to read 3. I love books in the war era, so I was very excited to read this book.

I did like the subjects in the book, especially about shell shock PTSD it's very real and still happens to soldiers now. It's not often you read about the after effects war has on soldiers and their families so it really was insightful. Claire and Mitch are married. Mitch however wasn't so lucky when he was captured by the Germans.

I would of loved more of his story Mitch escapes but gets shot. Luckily he survives. So it's no wonder he is suffering with Shell shock. The trauma of being captured, more than likely tortured then being shot, is simply horrifying. It's from this point things go horribly wrong for Claire and Mitch, when he suddenly disappears after undergoing treatment for his condition. Where has Mitch gone?

Can Claire uncover his whereabouts? Chasing Ghosts is a slower paced read, that slowly builds up the mystery and intrigue.

The characters are well written. The plot is well researched and it fits perfectly with the era. I only wish I had read the previous books, which I plan to do, as I'm thoroughly intrigued to see more of Claire and Mitch's story. I also want to just mention how Poignant and Captivating the Book Cover is. It caught my eye straight away! I love it! I do recommend reading this book especially if you enjoy WWII family Saga books, with intrigue, secrets, danger and mystery.

But I do suggest you read the other books in the series, especially this books sequel China Blue.
