Ahhhhh daaaamnnnn. Let's see I think the first bit was mostly me going yay fairy tale retellings are my fav! And that the only reason I consistently read more high fantasy than fairy tale retellings is that there's simply more high fantasy out there, especially as I've demolished pretty much all of the staples of fairy tale retellings.

And then I talked a lot more about Gregory Maguire, but I'm going to just sum it up 1. Gregory Maguire is definitely a mixed bag for me 2. I honestly can't remember like It just left no impact, which seems weird since it's his most famous work. And I've consistently liked each sequel less and less, so I've abandoned the series. Mirror, Mirror is I don't know that I exactly liked it, and I didn't dis like it I'm looking forward to seeing what you think on that one!

Overall his writing style seems like it's a you sort of thing and that's pretty consistent across the board although Confessions is probably his tamest work , so I think you'll at least like the books especially since it sounds like you enjoyed Wicked? Or at least I hope that's the case since you're planning on reading them all! I hate when that happens!!!!!! I only had the heart to type like one paragraph after that and then the blog owner totally misunderstood what I was saying.

Yes, I loved Wicked! It was all about the politics of Oz. After I said I was going to read all of his FT retellings I wanted to kick myself because I really had no idea how many there were.

My Dirty Parenting Confessions – Selfish Mother Blog

I love to chat, so comments get a lot of love. I have some rather sad news today. My TMT co-host Brittersweet has decided to step up to bigger things, so I am left with this feature on my own. I hope she still drops by for a visit now and then. Having her to call co-host, in comments and blog posts, was a warm fuzzy for me and I will miss that. Growing this feature was on the top of my to do list, so I am going to continue to sail on by myself!

So here we go And right now I am also tired because of reading all the review books I needed to wrap up before the end of the year, too. I did get my big Ensnared review I had been working on posted yesterday. I can tell you I am almost certain the first book I will dive into will be Ruin and Rising. I have been waiting forever to read it. One of my tweet peeps asked me for a fairytale retelling recommendation now that the Splintered trilogy has ended, and I chuckled because the only other book that touches that category that I have read is Wicked.

We then started talking about all of the other fairytale retellings Maguire has done, and readers mixed feelings about his body of work, so I have decided to challenge myself to reading ALL of his retellings this year and doing a big author spotlight and review at the end of this year. I am going to dig out my copy of Wicked to re-read and start as soon as possible. This conversation segued into reading challenges because someone is having a fairytale retelling challenge. However, if my Maguire readings fit the bill I might look into it.
