Highly recommend this book. Not bad, a little too lengthy perhaps and a bit juvenile. Try Baby Blue by Lloyd Albritton and other writings as well I can't review this book because I never purchased it. There were a few punctuation, wording issues that were impossible to ignore but that is only careless editing. The plot was solid and interesting. I really enjoyed the book. Lots of twists and turns, due to in-experience of characters and wants of the Russians.

Clever twists to getting out of situations. Boris Riskin writes with the ease of teflon, words flow, no sticking, and out slides this delicious omelete of a mystery.

Characters, dialog, plot, combine like fine spices to make these eggs sizzle and melt on the palate of the imagination with lasting satisfaction. Beautiful women, seven Faberge eggs worth millions, car chases, spies, the KGB, the Russian Mafia, an antique dealer being blackmailed, a famous lifestyle guru, and shootings--these are the ingredients in this tasty mystery set in Sag Harbor, Brighton Beach and Moscow.

Retired middle-aged English teacher Jake Wanderman quotes Shakespeare as he tries to help delectable widow Cynthia Organ deal with her big problem. Cynthia is a neighbor of his good friend Morty, who gets them together to try and cheer up Jake after his wife leaves him.

Jake is trying to get his wife Rosalind back, but she refuses to talk about why she left, telling him, "You should know why. Jake takes on the project of trying to protect the eggs, and help with a sale. Rosalind is living and working with Toby Welch, a famous lifestyle maven, whose father, Cormac Blather, is an antique dealer with connections in Russia.

They are enlisted to help with this problem. The eggs change hands every few pages, and Jake's plans to deliver them to the proper hands keep being highjacked. Will they end up in the hands of the Russian mafia, sold to the highest bidder, or back in Russia where they belong? Will Rosalind return to Jake? This would make a perfect movie--full of fights, fast forays, and fierce, fearless good guys.

Not with the devastating amount of hurt I felt deep inside me. Mostly, I hung around the bar and drank a lot of Kettle One. In the past few years, Rosie had put in a lot of time doing charity work. It seemed Toby did quite a bit of the same thing herself.

The two of them had hit it off and become good friends. I called there a dozen times. She gave me one of her looks. Sherri had a variety of looks that she directed at people. Depending on where you stood on the social read monetary scale, her looks could go from simple disdain to disapproval to contempt, or all the way in the other direction, to admiration, or even, if she were regarding someone famous such as Toby Welch, adoration.

A Jake Wanderman Mystery Series

In my case, when Morty began going out with her and first introduced us, he was already on his way to being a successful surgeon and I was just a high school English teacher. So the first look I got from her was disdain. When she learned we were best friends, her look turned to disapproval. I was pretty sure she thought Rosalind had done a wise thing in leaving me.

She had blonde hair and eyes the color of dollar bills. She sucked in her carmine lips. Come to my house. Full of suspense Was a great book, full of suspense and mystery.
