See a Problem?

Wonderfully inspiring post, Christy! Once back inside from sledging we were discussing snowflakes and how each one is unique, when we came up with the idea of creating a snowflake museum! For months our creations were up on the walls for all to see, and even to this day one remains. Imagination is a most amazing gift and it can take us anywhere…our lives would be so empty without it! A terrific post and timely reminder in our digital age of the importance of imagination! Annika, I love the idea of the snowflake museum! Great post, Christy!

I plan on getting them out in nature a lot this summer. Fingers crossed. Love this post, Christy!!!! Thank you for shedding light and bringing awareness to the importance of fostering imagination and creativity in the next generation of women! I found it interesting that you pointed out imagination and creativity are not the same. You know what… I have to agree with you. Imagination is something we visualise, try to see something that is not happening right in front of our eyes or has never happened before.

With creativity, I reckon you can interpret it as imagining to a different, deeper or higher level — where you think of different scenarios and apply these scenario to the real world to tell a story and doing as you so rightly put :. That is, to be carefree and have fun.

Dungeons & Dragons has a new class of converts.

I love that you really understood the post and its message. Thank you :. The older generation I am one too often try to give the results of experience rather than the experience itself. Perhaps we feel too vulnerable to share the experiences that resulted in our attitudes. Perhaps we should just tell the story and the effect upon ourselves, but not the idea that everyone should be effected the same way.

The latter would assume that everyone had the same building blocks of earlier formative experience and that the young cannot do better. Wonderful musings here, Graham!

Great post. Really inspiring post. For us, that means we must be brave enough to have an immediate impact. Being part of a team is a great way of developing the skills needed for leadership. This is why Atlassian commissioned research in partnership with the Australian Football League.

We wanted to explore the relationship between playing team sports and professional success. Being part of a debating team, theatre group or the Scouts also resets perceptions at a young age.

Women mentorships- Expanding your imagination of what you can accomplish

It creates a sense of belonging and a place to grow safely. Almost seven in 10 Australians played team sport between the ages of five and Many women miss out on the development of these skills because of lower participation in team sports and higher dropout rates. The cultural reasons behind why girls often quit team sport need addressing. Many women report a lack of confidence, opportunity and support as barriers to entry. These are early learnings about their place in the world that we must help girls and young women break. Missing out carries a high price.

The research shows those who play team sport are significantly more likely to reach managerial and other roles of responsibility. Continuing to play into adulthood increases this likelihood. However, interviews with Australian parents suggest girls are still less likely to play team sports than boys, even though they can see the benefits of getting them involved.

We both want to blaze a trail for our respective industries to follow and do our part to remove the barriers women still face on the way to achieving their dreams.
