So it's actually a sort of companion novel to the "Eye of Divinity" or an extension of that first book. The characters are younger, but new abilities will be revealed as well as new elements of the Dark Watchmen and the Deep Shadow that will set the stage for future books. If I missed responding to anyone, it was unintentional and you might want to check your spam folder or send again.

Sometimes there can be quite a delay before I'm able to respond, but for now, at least, my goal is always to send a response. The audio version for "Knights: The Eye of Divinity" is in production. I'll post more information on this later. The Heart of Shadows" is now available on Amazon, and should be available in the other stores in the near future pending shipment. I received some good news today from Mark Coker of Smashwords. I would like to thank both Smashwords and Apple for this promotional opportunity. Here is a link to the book in the iBookstore: You can find more information concerning this promotion at the Smashwords blog, found here. I've extended the length of Knights: The Heart of Shadows a bit, but I'm hoping to have the book published by the end of this month, depending on how long the editing takes. The Heart of Shadows book 3 of the Knights Series. This takes into account any minor, unforeseen delays that might turn up.

So keep watch for an update sometime next month. I also have plans to publish a novella called "The Beast Below: No idea yet when the novella will be ready to publish. No new writing has been added to either part.

iTunes is the world's easiest way to organize and add to your digital media collection.

For those of you wanting new writing in the series, I will have news on "The War of Credesar" Book 2 of the Credesar Series in the near future. As the Credesar Series progresses, it shall be tied in more deeply with the Knights Series. It is not, however, a direct sequel to the Knights Series and either series could be read first without anything being spoiled.

I am having some minor adjustments made to the editing of "The Curse of Credesar" both parts for the sake of quality. These are very minor edits such as correcting a few typos, trimming down a few bloated paragraphs, and adding a few missing words and the story will remain completely unchanged. One more note that might be of interest to some of you.

I have another series in the works called "A Knight of Tharnin" which is set in our time. Book 1 of that series is nearly complete, and could possibly be published in late December or early January. So keep watch for that. The cover art for Knights: You can view it on this page. I am making steady progress on the book itself and it should be published by Christmas or shortly thereafter. August 30, I am pleased to announce that Knights: I should have some cover art to reveal in the near future.

It will also soon be available through other outlets as well. This is book 2 of the Knights Series. July 14, I was recently interviewed by a fellow writer, A. Read the interview here. July 7, There has been a slight delay in the release of Knights: The Hand of Tharnin. However, progress has resumed again and I'm anticipating that it will be up for sale within a week.

May 8, Yet another cover update. I have just received the finished cover art for the first volume of a new fantasy series of mine called A Knight of Tharnin that will span 2 books. The book itself should be available for purchase shortly after Knights 2 goes up for sale in the near future.

You can view the cover on this page. March 9, The excellent cover for Knights: The Hand of Tharnin is complete. March 6, Knights: However since this is the first book in the series I will assume that they mean to expand more in that area in the following books. Also w Knights is an all around solid book.

The good guys have their flaws and not all the bad guys are pure evil. The world Keller has built is quite in depth. The entirety of this novel takes place in Silverland and Dremlock Kingdom, but there are many more kingdoms that are mentioned. Again I would like to have found out more about them as well, but I am going to assume they will be explored more in future novels. There is also tons of action and intrigue in the story itself. It is a great starter series for middle grade teen readers who are interested in Fantasy because of this. Even though I think younger readers would be interested I think older readers would be drawn into the story as well.

It has many layers and the world has some great potential. I only had two main issues with the book. The first was some of the things that were hinted at, but never fully answered. I do understand that there will be more novels in the series. The second was that sometimes the main character seemed very weak willed. He would say he was going to be one way and then when the moment came to prove himself he would fold. I can see were this gives the main character the space to grow in future books. I also know that I said that the characters having flaws and not being flat was what helped to make the story interesting, but, I personally found it mildly agitating.

It is solid writing overall and looks like a good start to a series. The issues I had with the book are mainly my own view of how I feel a book should go and, as I said above, nothing that would keep me from recommending the book. I plan in fact to give this book as presents in the near future so that says something right there. Pretty much had nothing else to read Apr 30, Morgan Sheppard rated it really liked it Shelves: We meet Lannon, who has grown up on the outskirts of a village, without too much of anything.

His parents argue a lot, and it is unclear to begin with whether his father is actually ill, or just a drunk with excuses. However, when three Knights turn up, they agree to take Lannon with them, to be trained as a Squire. This is a fantasy story of old - with danger, quests, nobility, and all other such goodness supplied on demand.

Lannon is a bit of a wimpy character, but does grow throughout the book. He isn't the best at anything which makes a nice change , but has to learn instead. He isn't the bravest, and he definitely changes his mind and is easily persuaded. Still, he does have redeeming qualities too, and this is only the first book. I'm sure he will continue to grow as the books progress. If you like fantasy with a spot of danger, then I can definitely recommend this book.

Aug 12, Tony Duxbury rated it really liked it. This is a lovely sword and sorcery story. Poor Lannon gets what he has always dreamed about, but the fabled Dremlock Kingdom isn't what he expected. He is recruited to be a knight because of a unique magical ability he possesses, one that he never knew he had.

Lannon is definitely not the right stuff. Basically cowardly and without confidence, he somehow gets caught up in adventures and horrors before he barely starts his knightly training. Something is definitely amiss in Dremlock Kingdom and L This is a lovely sword and sorcery story. Something is definitely amiss in Dremlock Kingdom and Lannon, with a bunch of other new recruits are suddenly plunged right into the middle of it.

Plenty of magic, villains, heroes, goblins and other horrors. I would recommend this to any sword and sorcery fan. Feb 07, auston carpenter rated it it was amazing. This book has lots of action Robert E. Keller does an outstanding job on description on anything. I can't wait to read the rest of the series. And just to let you know this book doesn't leave you on a cliff hanger for those who don't like cliff hangers.

The Characters are described good not great but the questions I have of the characters hopefully will be answered in the feature. But all in all I would recommend this series so far. Mar 29, Mary T rated it it was amazing.

So you want to be a knight Lannon lives in the middle of nowhere with parents that argue constantly. He has two books one about goblins and the other about knights. He is reading when three knights ride up and ask him to come with them to train to be a knight.

He is very excited to go with them as this has always been what he wanted. Sep 06, L. Ballard rated it liked it. The first half of this book was a bore, it's a shame because I bet people stop reading it. This would of gotten 4 stars if the first half was like the second half of the book or the cliche death didn't exist in the end.

The story itself is based around the protagonist Lannon, who discovers he possesses a rare gift known as the eye of divinity. The book itself starts off immersing the reader in the life of this unlikely knight and the ever growing threat spreading across the world they live in. When Lannon is first discovered, he is viewed as nothing special, until he proves his worth in a brilliantly subtle manner, and thus is taken to Dremlock to receive training with the other squires.

But his journey there ma The story itself is based around the protagonist Lannon, who discovers he possesses a rare gift known as the eye of divinity. But his journey there marks the start of escalating trouble, and there are those who fear his gift as a threat, and will take any measures necessary to see that Lannon cannot use his gift to thwart their plans. The book progresses at a steady pace, giving the reader insight into the past, religions, and the history of the world they live in, in a manner which inks the events of the past, to those which threaten to befall them now.

As expected, a wide array of characters are introduced and the squires in Dremock train in anything from weapons to magic, thus allowing the author unadulterated creativity to use these skills when facing an enemy, something which is done very well. By the end of the first book, things are really set into motion, as a reader, I am expecting the second book in the series to build upon the foundations created here and excel in both plot and character development as the series progresses.

The only way this book could have been improved upon, based my own personal preference, is I would have liked to have seen a little more character development and interaction from a social view point, allowing me to warm more to the characters. However with everything which occurs through the book, such an intervention would have probably detracted from the story and the tension being built. I am looking forward to seeing what happens in the next book and it is already added to my reading wishlist.

I picked this book up for free through Pixel of Ink. Not ever hearing of this author and not reading any reviews, I went into this book blind. I have to say this was quite interesting read for me. First, this book started off a little slow for me. With all the arguing in the beginning of the book between Lannon's parent's, I almost gave up on this book.

All I thought was, if this is the way the book is headed, I'm not going to like this. Finally the story picked up and started to get intersting. N I picked this book up for free through Pixel of Ink. This story did hold it's own in some parts. However, with the trolls and goblins, trees that came to life, and dark magic, it resembled Harry Potter all to much. Also, with the adventure that Lannon, Vorden, Timlin, Jarret and Aldreya, it resembled the return of the ring to Mordor. I did however enjoy this book.

I did get wrapped up in the quest to find the answer to the Goblin Puzzle. I became very upset with Vorden throughout this book. I have a feeling that this young man is going to find some BIG trouble for his friends. I am going to invest in the second book, Knights: The Hand of Tharnin. I also see that there is a third book, Knights: The Hearts of Shadows. I will have to read the second book before I jump and purchase both.

I'm hoping that in the second story, we will learn more of Lannon and his friends. I'm curious about Timlin and what has happen in his past. I also want to know about Cordus, Taris and the rest of the Tower Masters. There are some very intersting characters throughout this book that could be more developed. Jun 30, Azri Alipah rated it it was ok Shelves: A boy with a rare power, thrust into a world where he probably doesn't belong. He's joined by another boy who probably DOES belong, and one more who has no business being there.

Robert E. Keller Book List - FictionDB

As with many of Fantasy books, the lore included here was in-depth, though often it is thrown in the readers' face. The book itself has a 'Harry Potter with knights' feel overall, with the main character Lannon being brought to a castle to train with other squires his age, some of whom become his first true friends. He fac A boy with a rare power, thrust into a world where he probably doesn't belong. He faces the threat of evil goblins and dark knights, who are scheming behind the scenes throughout his first year in Dremlock, though most of the trouble Lannon faces ere caused by himself.

Despite the great story potential and good overall style of writing, I was very disappointed with the character development. While Lannon's self-pity and nervousness were realistic and understandable, he keeps this same attitude throughout the book, despite training as a knight, and experiences facing terrible creatures. It's the same with his companions, who were even more badly written, as they do not give any reason for me to care for them.

Without spoiling anything, I also feel that the ending was rushed, and it left me very unsatisfied. I would understand if the author wanted to save some plot points for the next book, but in that case, I'd argue that there should be a bit of closure in this book. To sum up, I think the first half of this book was a great introduction into the world of the Kingdom of Dremlock, but started to go downhill once it became obvious that these characters are not going to grow up. Based on the preview of the 2nd book included with this one, I won't be in a hurry to read about Lannon's next adventures.

Lannon Sunshield is a reclusive boy, living at the edge of nowhere, with unhappy parents, no prospects, and no ambitions. But when the three greatest Knights in the land stop by to visit, everything changes, and Lannon's rare gift for a forgotten form of magic earns him a place in the knightly training halls.

Just in time to save the kingdom from certain doom.

I like youth-in-training stories, and I wanted to like this one. The thing I like about them is the slow build. I like Color me frustrated. I like getting to see the hero putting in his time, paying his dues, and stumbling through a surprise adventure or two along the way. The adolescent boy in me can relate to that.

Lannon, however, had too much of the adventure and not enough of the dues-paying for my tastes. More importantly, the dramatic tension in this story only works because the trainees are too stupid to tell their superiors what's going on, so they end up running around, little more than untrained farm boys. They battle big bad monsters that would normally make a full Knight tremble. And then they win. They are in no way confronted by the consequences of their selfishness, and I find it very hard to like characters who get rewarded for being selfish and stupid. I just want to kick them all down a flight of stairs - not follow them into their next misadventure.

Whenever I read something that I really enjoy, I have a tendency to "zone out" of my surroundings. I was a little surprised at how easily that happened with this book. After reading some of the reviews, I knew that it would be a book that would fall within what I like to read, but even after reading the sample from Amazon, I did not think that I would take a liking to this book as much as I have. There is nothing that really stands out so much about this book If there was any one aspect of this book that I were to say bothered me, it was the abruptness with which this story ended.

It really left me feeling like it should have gone on a ways further to help set up the next installment of this series. It was like running a race, nearing the finish line and then hitting a brick wall as you crossed the line But that is nothing to take away from this book. All-in-all a great read. I can't wait to start on the next installment! Over all I did enjoy this story arch.

I did however have a very hard time getting into this novel. The story starts at a very awkward part of the story and leaves the ready floundering about trying to figure out what is going on and who everyone is. There was no introduction to the land or the characters, we are just thrown into it mid flight. After the second chapter I was more comfortable and able to follow the story much easier.

I started to enjoy lannons journey and love the characters that Over all I did enjoy this story arch. I started to enjoy lannons journey and love the characters that are introduced. I feel like this story would so much better with an introduction into the world and the races of the world.

With out that the reader has to really push through the first part of the story with immense effort, and some readers are not willing to go that far. Great base story though and I hope that maybe an introduction will be written in the future to soften the awkward dive into the story line. Aug 06, Richelle Goodrich rated it liked it. Lannon Sunshield is a young man with an extraordinary paranormal gift. Unfortunately, he lacks the necessary knowledge and confidence to use it. He possesses what Knights of Dremlock refer to as the Eye of Divinity , a power that could help him see the unvarnished truth and intent of other souls.

The Eye is a protection and a curse for the young squire, who hopes to eventually be a full-fledged knight. Lannon's tale is a creative one; however, it was slow in unraveling. I did enjoy this fantasy- Lannon Sunshield is a young man with an extraordinary paranormal gift. I did enjoy this fantasy-adventure and was especially impressed by the cleverness of the author in developing a range of brotherly knights—unique in colors, ranks, duties and talents—and a variety of unusual species in a race of gruesome goblins.

Their descriptions were painted clearly in words. The pace of the book seemed to drag, and the writing could use professional editing, but the story itself I found engaging, creative, and a vivid treat for the imagination. While not the best, I think this book is fairly well done. What could be done better -characters are one dimensional and their behavior is not consistent through out the book. It makes the characters feel sketched in rather than fully drawn. It makes Dremlock kingdom feel like its ran by squires while squires are asked to do all the real work. Jun 02, Kayla rated it liked it. Young boy from isolated village is The Chosen One with a Secret Power and has to go be trained and mishaps occur.

Overarching evil threatening to destroy the world. If you like these kind of stories you will likely enjoy this one as well. I thought the pacing was pretty good, but the dialogue was inconsistent, with phrasing that was often out of place for the setting and characters. The good news is the d as advertised This is a pretty standard fantasy story. The good news is the dialogue seemed much improved in the preview chapters of the second book included in my copy.

Hopefully that improvement will make the characters more unique and relatable, since in this book the characters felt somewhat flat and lifeless! All in all a fairly average book, but has some promise for the later novels in the series. Mar 16, Melody rated it really liked it. I really enjoyed this book for the most part.
