Something very bad. Very, very, bad! This book had a great plot with a few surprises. Another Great Book! Word around town is that Roman, Katrina's new step-father, is apparently causing problems with other packs and not following all of the laws. Although she doesn't want to believe the rumors, Katrina starts to realize she may be wrong when she's kidnapped by Maddox. Throughout school, she has always thought Maddox was hot, but he's the Alpha of a rival pack so she has kept her distance. However being close to him now that she's his hostage is messing with her mind. Maddox has wanted Katrina from the moment he laid eyes on her.
She is the sole reason he has never taken a mate as his own. It doesn't matter about the politics of the pacts, he still wants her no matter how hard he tries to deny his feelings. During Katrina's time with Maddox, someone tries to hurt her. Maddox's protective instincts come out and he does what is necessary to keep her safe. Even if that means keeping her in his room.
Yeah, you guessed it. They stop fighting and start spending a lot of time together and fall even more for each other. But with someone after Katrina and confirmation that Roman is up to no good, it doesn't look promising for this couple.

No matter how Maddox feels, he has to pick his pack over his potential mate. But maybe, just maybe it'll all work out. I adored Maddox. He's funny, sweet, protective and sexy. Everything you would expect in an Alpha. Katrina is a strong character, but in the beginning of the book, she's immature with her reactions and name calling and it got on my nerves. Maddox makes up for it and towards the end, Katrina is a more likeable character. Overall good book. I am a fan of the author.

I have a bunch that are waiting for me to do so. I saw the description and felt the need to read it right away rather than putting it in a folder to read soon. I put books in the folder as not to forget or loss the books that interest me. They both had me invested in the outcome of the story. The story had some nice verbal flirtation and the secondary characters showed a little dimension that you started to like them too. The mystery of what is going on in her own pack was interesting and I wanted to know the why, how, and what they were going to do to correct it.
The male lead was the total package with good looks, and with the ability to know he thoughts and feelings, made him even sexier. He was caring but still not perfect as he needed the help of the female to let him in on what he was in the dark about. Overall I liked the story and have saved it in my favorites folder. That is the folder I go back to re-read good stories. I really liked Maddox and Katrina. She was sassy and had a take charge, and in your face personality. She was also very warm hearted and kind, which made the perfect balance.
Maddox was a true Alpha in every sense of the word. He was not going to allow his feelings for Katrina to cloud his judgement when it came to his pack, which was honorable. I really liked the book. First time I read a book by this author. Will definitely read another. I give this one a 4 star not because I didn't like it, but because I think that while it was a great story with new and original characters, I didn't love the Alpha of this story.
I thought he was a bit oblivious as to what was really going on in his territory and that he could have been a stronger character. I particularly didn't like that his mate was right before him and he still hesitated for reasons I found to be flimsy. Alphas take what is theirs. They don't dilly dally or worry about what the other alpha might think or do. Especially if their mate was obviously in danger or being mistreated by her step father, the other alpha. So while over all I like this story I still thought that it could have been a more effective and better story. Buy and read because it is a good story just needs a little more fine tuning to be a great one.
